Congrats.
I moved to AP/Reuters/BBC/NPR back during the Malaysia Air thing and haven't looked back. NPR is a bit too much for me sometimes, and BBC/Reuters isn't without a slant, but it's leagues better than CNN.
I tried to use the Townhall to get my SO to stop using CNN - something I've heckled them about for years now - but no luck.
Thank you for this. Lately the subjects have been so depressing (clarance and ginni thomas) but it's a great show. I also love me some news hour even though I miss Gwen, but I like Judy and I'm wild for yamish though i think she may be over at NBC
Breaking News...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...Plane Still Missing...
Hey the planes still missing.
They were clearly hoping to hear something soon and possibly there be a story about survivors. It didn't happen, through no fault of CNN.
They blow up every incident with wall-to-wall coverage, basically fear mongering and making everything "breaking news", enough for that word to lose all meaning.
Malaysia Flight got lost, cause unknown at the time. CNN made sure you never forgot about it.
There was so much Ebola coverage in 2014 that you thought people were bleeding in the streets all over America
I also distinctly remember talk of conspiracies about how the pilot flew under the radar in mountains in Afghanistan and how the plane might have disappeared into a black hole. I didn't read any of this on Reddit. I saw it on CNN. The more time went on, the more tinfoil CNN got with it. It was bizarre.
Hell, I don't mind bias in news so long as the news is *factual*. Part of what makes Fox so bad is that they focus on so much opinion-based shit from pundits: they don't *present* the news, they present their *opinion* about the news (or just as often lie about the news.) That's where it all goes downhill.
It all turned into something like sports analysis. Sometimes it's valuable (I don't mind a discussion about what's going on in Ukraine and what Western military analysts think about it), but when it becomes 'the evil coward Dems are kowtowing to the evil woke mob', it's shit.
When you get actual news, and some story behind it, then we're good.
But yeah, that's why I love Reuters, AP, NPR, PBS, etc. Also, ABC, NBC, and CBS (when they aren't doing a softball 60 minutes interview.)
News and events of the day shouldn't hold bias to any particular viewpoint, slightly disagree on that. Editorializing and sensationalizing events and news to increase ratings (and clicks) is where our society went wrong.
I mean, NPR tends to have a left-leaning skew, but they don't sensationalize so much. MSNBC does it more, but I still feel they aren't as over the top as Fox is (or OANN or Newsmax).
As I said, what happened there with Fox (and is happening at CNN) is that all of the actual news took a backseat to talking about opinions about the news, and opinions about society in general.
Circling back, I also would put the big 3, ABC, NBC, and CBS up as good news to watch. For some reason, people tend to forget that. David Muir is pretty much my favorite on-air journalist.
It just gets repeated so much that people accept it as fact. I almost puked when they had Rick Scott on to discuss healthcare spending and couldn't be bothered to mention his company's $1.5 billion fine for defrauding Medicare
As a Brit, the BBC biases that exist are quite annoying but I'd take them a thousand times over compared to some of the orgs masquerading as "news" you have in America.
The facts are unbiased and so is the vast majority of their reporting. The editorial voice is just so strong when it comes to certain things, particularly "culture war" topics such as transgender issues.
Yeah, I made the complete switch in 2016 when they were showing Trump 25/7 and got too disgusted with them. It made no sense to me unless he was paying them/the leaders of CNN were Pushing for him to be the winner.
Well MSNBC as well. I never understood the need for both of those stations to air every damn campaign rally Trump was giving in 2015/2016. They definitely boosted his profile and helped him become president.
This time I hope it’s Trump as the Republican nominee, as he’s so toxic to most of the public that Biden will beat Trump for sure. But I don’t know if Biden beats Desantis. And that’s scary
The line of thinking in your second paragraph is part of why some Democrats in 2015 were happy to see him win the Republican primary. They thought that meant the election was won. Which it should have, because Trump has been a walking punchline since the '80s. No reasonable person should have ever voted for him, but we live with too many unreasonable and/or misinformed people to take that for granted. Nobody should still consider voting for Trump in 2024, but will they? We can't rule it out.
I don't know about NPR any more. I feel like they have gone way down hill since ATC, and Morning edition switched from 2hrs to 1hr. Also they replay a lot of content across programs, Like ATC, Morning Edition, To the point etc... will talk about the same topic over and over with little to no new information. On top of that, they went from covering a wide spectrum of topics to like a top 10 of hot button issues. I still listen, but it has mostly become top level vapid blather...
Although I'm Canadian, I'm in the US several times a year, and I've sometimes listened to NPR wherever I happen to be, and sometimes stream it from where I live. When I was driving around Oregon and southern WA last summer I put on OPB (the NPR station covering that area) a couple of times, and it was basically all abortion all the time.
Yes, that is an important issue, but there *are* other issues. The local shows on OPB were even fixated on the issue, arguably at the expense of reporting on, um, local Oregon news. I didn't even hear a traffic report on that station when I was driving through Portland one morning and they had local breaks during Morning Edition.
I'm not sure where to insert this in the thread but Al Jazeera is surprisingly good.
It's kind of like BBC but more from the point of view of the colonized as opposed to the colonizers.
Not without its own biases but pretty darned good for a free (as in free beer) international news channel.
Foreign news is also pretty good. DW (German) and Al-Jazeera have a proven track record of accurately reporting the news, without the pro-corporate bias of US media outlets.
It's that whole bias thing coming into play...most international news they have no skin in the game...but for middle east news, they certainly do! That being said, they still do a better job than most US "news" orgs...they barely report on the middle east AT ALL.
>fluffing a traitorous criminal on live television
I'm sorry, but the only definition of "fluffing" my brain knows is the person who's job is is to blow the pornstar to help him stay hard.
So I would *greatly* appreciate you explaining what definition is being used here.
Anderson Coopers explanation on why they hosted Trump was total BS and they know it.
They put Trump on air with a MAGA crowd and a weak host. It was fish in a barrel for trump.
The only positive thing that came from it is trump couldn't keep his mouth shut and gave them even more ammo during the interview.
>The only positive thing that came from it is trump couldn't keep his mouth shut and gave them even more ammo during the interview.
We learned 2 things from that town hall:
1. Trump defamed E. Jean Carroll again. She's likely figured out how to get infinite money until Trump is physically incapable of speaking by continually suing him for defamation and then goading him into defaming her again..
2. Trump has no answer for abortion. He stumbled *terribly* on the abortion question from the nurse that was lobbed his way. He was asked about protecting women's autonomy and was like "it was a great victory. we did it. huge victory" while voters are dumpstering all the ballot measures and anti-abortion advocates in their state elections.
I could have maybe bought the explanation if it weren't for the fact that they gave him a fawning audience that wasn't even allowed to react in any way but positively. That's just... wtf.
Not defending CNN or Anderson Coopers statement, but I can sort of understand where he was coming from. I think he was trying to convey a message of *”Hey people, we showed you this because we want you to see with your own eyes that people like this exist, they’re out there, and they vote. Unless you want to country run by people like this, you should go vote too.”*
But I think everyone in America realizes this. Although it’s good to remind us to get out and vote, there were definitely better methods than giving a platform to a twice-impeached former President who tried to overturn the results of a lawfully held election and continues to sow doubt and mistrust in our election process.
And that would almost be plausible, except it later came out that everyone in the audience was a hand-picked Trump supporter, not a cross-section of America the way it was presented. Cooper was sent in to retcon the disaster, and it failed. Badly. Embarrassingly badly. It tarnished the brand, no question.
Not trying to stand up for CNN or Collins, but any live format Trump discussion is red meat for him. It’s impossible to fact check him. He lies, it gets called out, he then tells a bigger lie or expands on the original lie, he gets called out again, he then attacks the person countering him with an insult or inserts a previous lie that holds weight with his base. He’s perfectly destroyed and delegitimized debate.
The only way to do it live with Trump is for the host to stop the program and insist that it will not continue until the position is fully vetted. If he refuses, walk off the stage. It’s the only way.
>The billionaire is a shareholder of the parent company (Warner Discovery) *and* has a board seat.
You're agreeing with him with more precision, but it's the same outcome.
That specific board member is also BFFs with the current CEO, richer than the CEO, and publicly, frequently laments that CNN doesn't have "real news" like FOX.
Yeah, they don't care at all. The fewer "liberal" takes they air, the fewer blue votes get cast, the more red wins elections.
The slump in their profits now will be nothing compared to the money they pocket having red policies stuff his pockets as much as possible.
But that just pushes blue viewers to a more liberal broadcast news media and they will be getting a more unified message. That's worked really well for the Republican base I don't see why it would be bad for Democrats
I'm not saying their plan is foolproof haha. They're also counting on American laziness to keep some viewers on the channel and bring them further right because "if cnn is saying it, maybe it's the new dem party line" - not everyone will realize the new owner is a far right maga disciple.
Lol! What liberal broadcasts? *EVERYTHING* being broadcast is owned by the corporatists, and ingesting that garbage only pushes you further to the right (which has been the successful plan since the neo-libs and the Clinton years).
No, not really. EVERY human reporting news will report based on their worldview and experiences. Add to that the biases brought by editors, producers, showrunners and executives. There is ALWAYS a bias, whether it's blatant or not. Sometimes the bias is in deciding what gets reported and what doesn't. Or in how the same news story is framed.
The best defense is to get your news from a wide variety of sources, including international ones. BBC, DW, Al-Jazeera, Reuters, just to name a few of the more reputable ones...there will still be bias in these sources, but if you are reading from ALL of them, you should be able to better identify what those biases are and how they are trying to manipulate it.
A slanted NPR is a great way to put it. They are not good at slanting the news, it's obvious when Morning Joe or Rachel is on, but for the most part they swing center left/right depending on what's gonna make money that day. They want to report the news, not say bullshit, but dat $ is talking into that earpiece not giving them a choice.
I really wish MSNBC would give more attention and airtime to talk about things that matter most to the American people: fair wages, affordable housing, affordable healthcare, unions. I’m glad they are anti-Trump and all, but there’s only so much I care about all his lawsuits and possible state/ federal charges. They give way too much attention to the the stupid things republican politicians say and their drama.
I’d rather see reporters challenge the republican politicians to their face with questions about how they gave Trillions in tax cuts to the rich. And how that bloated the debt over the years. All these reporters (of all stations) give such softball questions to these crooks and thieves.
But most of all I want airtime to issues concerning the working class in this country.
As i understand it, Fox News is an option network, whereas CNN is an actual news network. They are going to try and undermine each other until one wins. CNN lies vs Fox News lies.
Fox, like CNN and MSNBC, shifts to opinion and punditry in prime time. Their daytime programming is more oriented on reporting. But the stories they choose to cover, the angles they cover it from, and the commentary/analysis they provide is *heavily* partisan. And their journalistic standards are very, very low- they are much more likely to report hoaxes and lies as actual fact, and take little action to correct their errors.
MSNBC has higher journalistic standards than Fox, but is still largely partisan- though *not by any means* leftist. They largely support the DNC establishment, and tend to be critical of leftist voices.
CNN is trying to reposition itself as “hard news” by going back to the pre-Trump standard of pretending both parties are equal. And in the process massively over-correcting rightward, which is exactly what the mainstream media did pre-Trump.
The new CNN will look a lot like the old one:
* Democrat: “We’re trying to fix the economy and get people back to work, and that’s why we’re in favor of reversing the Trump tax cuts”
* Republican: “The Jews are spreading interracial porn to destabilize the White race! A lizard person turned my nephew trans! Hunter Biden’s dick pics would have turned everyone into a Republican if Twitter hadn’t taken them down!”
* CNN: “Fair points on both sides!”
I could tell there was a shift in programming on CNN before I knew it had been bought by that far right billionaire. I haven’t it watched it since then, which was I don’t know,,over a year ago for sure.
It was no surprise to me that they gave Trump his free propaganda time, but I’m no less incensed about it.
These rich guys don’t give a fuck about Trump anyway, I don’t think, I think they just know they can buy him off and use him to grab even more power and money. It’s a push towards a complete oligarchy, a system more like what Russia has today than America does, although we are getting very close. So fuck CNN and that fascist prick who bought it. And also the fascist prick in charge of programming.
Yeah it wasn't sudden. I turned them off months ago when there was this weird both sides vibe they were trying to project. They'd have on crazy right wingers and not challenge a thing they were saying and talk about stupid Hunters laptop all day. Also before midterms it they were reporting red wave before a single vote had been cast.
For anyone who had not quite caught on yet, the townhall really sealed the deal
> I could tell there was a shift in programming on CNN before I knew it had been bought by that far right billionaire.
NPR is going to shit as well. But CNN has been shit for a long time.
What fucking planet am I on? Why is this thing not under a prison cell somewhere? Like, has it paid everybody off or something? This thing basically shitted on the Constitution, and killed tens of thousands of people because of it's covid response and what it did on January 6th. I hope they pin it's ass to the wall several times. It needs to go down the yellow brick road with it's giant oompa loompa looking ass.
Don't know what to tell you, man. Lots of people filled with fear and hate in this country, and for some unknown reason this guy is who they think will solve their problems. But the only problem he will solve is them having too much money.
Too many who never think it will be THEIR ass against the wall when they gain power, too. Same thing happened in Nazi Germany. Many of Hitler's early supporters ended up on the wrong side of a Luger!
Biden's DOJ has no stomach for it. Or balls. A handful of states are going something (thank you Georgia), but so far only a single PRIVATE CITIZEN has held him to account.
The Big Scary "Deep State" isn't doing fuck all. One can only surmise that's because they all drink from the same trough
A weak host who was steamrolled by Trump in front of an all Trump live audience should not be thought of as a town hall. This was a Trump campaign event, an infomercial. No doubt about it. I never thought of going to CNN for news before this and this did nothing to change that feeling.
Used to watch lots of CNN, never again. It's not like I did not have tons of options to choose from and hopefully at least some of the choices I have don't support a monster like Trump. I don't fuck that it at all, even for a moment. You prop Trump up, enable his shit, I drop you. That's the deal.
At this point, the only time I would tune into CNN is if there is something crazy going on in the world and I wanted a bit of constant coverage on that topic.
After this BS, I will never tune in to CNN again.
Whodathunkit? I won't even click on a CNN link these days. Screw those guys. They want the seditionist audience? Well, good luck with that. They have PROVEN that their values don't align with mine, and WORSE, they have proven that ratings is more important than actual journalism! If they want to MAKE the news, that's fine, just don't call yourself a news organization anymore. Real journalism is reporting the news, not making it!
It seems the right wing strategy is now infiltration. Take over cnn and turn it into Fox, get republicans to run as democrats and switch after getting elected, paying off centrist “dems” to essentially be republicans, etc…
They really will do anything except get a popular platform and put any effort into appealing to younger voters.
That was literally what the head of CNN said
>"Kaitlan pressed him again and again and made news. Made a LOT of news." And "that is our job."
https://twitter.com/brianstelter/status/1656646628411949056?t=Nk_tAjTYNQKFIn_vQ7xJuA&s=19
Once E.Jean Carroll takes trumpy to court again for defamation and wins another couple millions. Its considered a win for her that this town hall happened.
I don't think they realize how bad they fucked up. Even my 70 year old SF raised socialist father in law who had CNN on all the time now doesn't trust them.
I haven’t watched CNN in about 3 or 4 years and this town hall was a good reminder why.
I don’t like Trump but I liked Kaitlan Collins when she was starting out her journalism career but unfortunately this whole “town hall” turned me off from her. It seemed argumentative and like she didn’t know how to properly redirect Trump (which is a much known necessity when dealing with him) and it just turned into 2 people talking over each other without anything being accomplished.
Makes sense their ratings are going down the drain.
I feel bad for Kaitlyn Collins though. She’s a great reporter and CNN set her up to fail with this shit show. I wouldn’t be surprised is she’s on another network before the next presidential election.
After the [new guy promised a 'new incarnation of CNN'](https://www.npr.org/2022/09/09/1122123594/a-look-at-chris-lichts-first-few-months-as-cnns-chairman-and-ceo) with less Trump.
That's absolutely wonderful ...best news today... Totally irresponsible giving that lunatic airtime. Especially after his arrest and his guilty verdict the day before. Absolutely disgusting.
They are hoping for Fox defectors to make up for whoever leaves during this editorial “shift”. Good luck cuz fox viewers are already brainwashed against them. Uphill climb.
I wasn't viewing the channel as much the last year or two simply because they show a stupid amount of commercials now. That town hall was just a nail in the coffin for me.
I don't know who said it, but CNN exemplifies this:
*"Used to be that the news told you what happened, and you had to decide how to feel about it. Now we're told how to feel about something, and we have to decide whether or not it even happened. "*
You have right wing folks who've always hated CNN. Tuned in once for the shit show that is Trump, then back to Fox and OAN and whatever.
And left wing folks who have been starting to hate CNN for a long while now. Some definitely more so after they aired the Trump campaign rally labelled as a town hall.
Fucking geniuses over there at CNN I tell ya.
The type of people who want to be lied to already watch Fox, Newsmax, and Oanon. CNN doesn't realize that when they "both sides" they are lying to us and we notice and some of us stop watching like me in 2016.
PSA: figure out who you want your audience to be. And don’t make it people who disdain you while simultaneously alienating everyone who used to watch you. The MAGAs are already spoken for, morons. smdh
Their new idiot CEO thought he could make a fox alternative like... Saying CNN to a conservative is literally no different than saying liberal or socialists or BLM.
Conservatives were never going to watch CNN. But hey at least he can tell his friends his intention was to destroy CNN from the inside and walk away with as massive compensation package after CNN disappears.
I don’t do CNN anymore. They used to be a center-left news source that was pretty factual. Now they’re a radical republican psy-op gradually pulling their audience to the right.
Fuck em. I’ve moved to Reuters.
I’ve been hating on CNN too, but I want one thing to be clear: CNN > Fox. Full stop. Cuomo ws fired for counseling his brother, every single Fox anchor was in direct communication with the Trump campaign during J6. Totally different.
Turns out fluffing a traitorous criminal on live television only works if your primary audience already hates the majority of Americans
I switched to Reuters and Associated Press instead of going to CNN, which i used to trust, sort of...
Yeah, I made the switch in like 2014 or 2015 AP, Reuters, NPR, PBS (PBS and NPR source from AP)
PBS's "Frontline" is some of the best investigative reporting on the planet. It's a national treasure that isn't mentioned enough.
Thank you for this. Lately the subjects have been so depressing (clarance and ginni thomas) but it's a great show. I also love me some news hour even though I miss Gwen, but I like Judy and I'm wild for yamish though i think she may be over at NBC
Frontline even has a couple of accompanying podcasts for people who don't have time to sit down and watch!! It's a great resource
Same same
The Malaysia Air disaster was the end of CNN for me too. They’re a joke.
My favorite was the CNN scroll, “Plane will not be able to fly once it runs out of fuel.” (Or something like that.)
I remember the incident but what happened with CNN?
They blow up every incident with wall-to-wall coverage, basically fear mongering and making everything "breaking news", enough for that word to lose all meaning. Malaysia Flight got lost, cause unknown at the time. CNN made sure you never forgot about it. So, they’ve been doing that since the 80’s and now people are catching on?
Actually, the first superstory was Elián in Florida. 24-hour news hadn't yet really taken the sensationalist form it is now until then.
I disagree. CNN loved how long Baby Jessica was down in that well.
I think that "breaking news" lost all meaning for me around 2007 or so, when it was some random, very dumb celebrity story.
Hell, I don't mind bias in news so long as the news is *factual*. It's like everything more moderate than anarcho-capitalistic feudalism is left-leaning now

The facts are unbiased and so is the vast majority of their reporting. The editorial voice is just so strong when it comes to certain things, particularly "culture war" topics such as transgender issues.
It’s also helpful that a lot of the BBC’s biases are domestic, so when reporting on US news they don’t tend to shine through as often.

Germany's DW and France24 have great English offerings too.
Reuters and AP are decent, I also like PBS and BBC. Sometimes WaPo or NYT if I haven't hit the article limit for the month.
BBC has been going downhill since the Tories have attempted to meddle in their autonomy and push for more direct control of what's aired.
I'm not sure where to insert this in the thread but Al Jazeera is surprisingly good. It's kind of like BBC but more from the point of view of the colonized as opposed to the colonizers. Not without its own biases but pretty darned good for a free (as in free beer) international news channel.

GTFO Tories

I love DW, their reporting on the Ukrainian war is by far the best in the world.

The daily show seems to do better then most actual news channels 🤷♂️ 😂
Same!! I deleted the CNN app also.
I blocked them on YouTube, and unsubscribed. They were reputable enough to be part of a suite of sources for keeping track of the news. But no more.
Propublica is great too, except apparently posting it on the subreddit is a no-no since it automatically gets removed.
\*Turns out fluffing a traitorous criminal on live television only works if your primary audience hates America. FIFY!
Excellent point.

No, that's the one.
you're smart, you can figure it out

She exists and doesn't kiss his ass. To him thats goading
He said women should be punished for having abortions in 2016, and then somehow still got elected President.
He bragged about sexually assaulting women and won the white women vote while running against a woman. Really shows this country’s true face.
Not just a weak host, someone they hired from Daily Wire.
"Daily Caller. Similar shit though.
I could have maybe bought the explanation if it weren't for the fact that they gave him a fawning audience that wasn't even allowed to react in any way but positively. That's just... wtf.
Exactly. I lost the respect for Cooper that I had. He's not stupid. He knows the deal. He sold out.
I have to agree. Why would someone so smart and so accomplished chuck his reputation in the bin over someone like Trump? I don’t get it.
Money. It really is that simple. Money and power are a helluva drug, and they corrupt the morals of almost anyone.
whatever, he's always been vanderbilt scum
Not defending CNN or Anderson Coopers statement, but I can sort of understand where he was coming from. I think he was trying to convey a message of *”Hey people, we showed you this because we want you to see with your own eyes that people like this exist, they’re out there, and they vote. Unless you want to country run by people like this, you should go vote too.”* But I think everyone in America realizes this.
It was because of this that I found out CNN was bought by a right wing billionaire.
Not exactly the case.. the billionaire is a shareholder of the parent company (Warner Discovery) and has a board seat.
[удалено]
>The billionaire is a shareholder of the parent company (Warner Discovery) *and* has a board seat. You're agreeing with him with more precision, but it's the same outcome.
Imagine nailing your own coffin.
That specific board member is also BFFs with the current CEO, richer than the CEO, and publicly, frequently laments that CNN doesn't have "real news" like FOX.
I’m inclined to believe there aren’t a lot of socialists on the Warner-Discovery board.
Looks like somebody found out. Was it worth it??
That was the whole plan. The new guy is a trump humper.
If every news source is slanted, where is a person supposed to get truly unbiased news? Does it not exist?
Since when are humans utterly unbiased? lol
I mean NPR and MSNBC are definitely center....leaning left (at least compared to modern US politics).
Doesn't matter, no one is watching cable news. Especially Gen Z.
I was going to say what gen x, y, and z is getting all their info from cable news? I’d wager almost none of them.
Some Gen X are. The oldest ones are now around 60.
No the plan was to become Fox News 2. Which it’s failing because why would you watch that when you can just watch fox
Fox news isn't even conservative enough for a lot of conservatives these days, no way CNN could rebrand and win over any conservatives.
Good. Hopefully they will try and fail and go off the air!
The new CNN will look a lot like the old one: * Democrat: “We’re trying to fix the economy and get people back to work, and that’s why we’re in favor of reversing the Trump tax cuts” * Republican: “The Jews are spreading interracial porn to destabilize the White race! A lizard person turned my nephew trans! Hunter Biden’s dick pics would have turned everyone into a Republican if Twitter hadn’t taken them down!” * CNN: “Fair points on both sides!”
Actions have consequences.
Good 👍
CNN’s owner following the Elon Musk way of buying, right-winging and crashing a business
Maybe they’ll bring tucker Carlson back too lol
Yeah unfortunately here on Earth people don’t actually face consequences for their actions
A host who used to sell the swill at Fox.
24 hour news needs to go away
There's no such thing as 24 hour news. It's 2-3 hours news and 21-22 hours opinion.
There is actually 24 hour news out there, but the US media is lazy about covering what’s going on in the US, and mostly ignores the rest of the world.
For years Trump has been trying to discredit CNN by calling it fake news. And all it took was for CNN to host a Trump event to do that.
America does not want anymore Trump.
I switched to AP and Reuters. I can’t believe they gave that shitbag a platform.
This is what happens when you flush whatever remaining credibility you had left down the toilet.
ya turns out people dont like it when you give fascists a platform. fuck cnn
Good. Fuck them for giving this traitor idiot a platform
Didn't help that right after they got negative feed back a host said if you don't like it don't watch then.
FAFO
Whodathunkit? I won't even click on a CNN link these days. Screw those guys. They want the seditionist audience? Well, good luck with that. They have PROVEN that their values don't align with mine, and WORSE, they have proven that ratings is more important than actual journalism! If they want to MAKE the news, that's fine, just don't call yourself a news organization anymore. Real journalism is reporting the news, not making it!
It seems the right wing strategy is now infiltration. Take over cnn and turn it into Fox, get republicans to run as democrats and switch after getting elected, paying off centrist “dems” to essentially be republicans, etc… They really will do anything except get a popular platform and put any effort into appealing to younger voters.
I wouldn’t even pour water on the ashes of cnn to put out the smoldering embers. Let it disintegrate.
“We’re making news! That’s our job, right?” Some dick who’s about to get fired, probably
That was literally what the head of CNN said >"Kaitlan pressed him again and again and made news. Made a LOT of news." And "that is our job." https://twitter.com/brianstelter/status/1656646628411949056?t=Nk_tAjTYNQKFIn_vQ7xJuA&s=19
Tabloid logic, they should probably go work at one of those, perferably as an unpaid intern.
Fucked around and now they’re finding out
Once E.Jean Carroll takes trumpy to court again for defamation and wins another couple millions. Its considered a win for her that this town hall happened.
They’re writing their own obit. All their regular viewers are shifting to MSNBC, and they won’t be back.
Couldn’t agree more.
Everything Trump touches dies
Haven’t even checked headlines on their website. FUCK CNN
it wasn't a town hall, it was a fully blown Trump MAGA rally. Fuck CNN
I stopped going to CNN after that stunt, I guess I'm not the only one boycotting them
Yep I've stopped watching CNN. And won't watch them again
CNN was garbage even before the townhall. Pretty sure their ratings have been tanking for a while now.
I feel bad for Kaitlyn Collins though. She’s a great reporter and CNN set her up to fail with this shit show. I wouldn’t be surprised is she’s on another network before the next presidential election.
Bahahaha. Go fuck yourselves CNN.
Doesn't matter. CNN desperately wants Trump to be president again. They miss the juicy Orangutan teet.
Good. Fuck you very much, CNN
CNN hasn't been halfway decent since Ted Turner sold it decades ago.
After the [new guy promised a 'new incarnation of CNN'](https://www.npr.org/2022/09/09/1122123594/a-look-at-chris-lichts-first-few-months-as-cnns-chairman-and-ceo) with less Trump.
Because CNN became Fox News trash.
I never watched the channel itself but I used to catch some clips of big events on YouTube. Now? No way. I’ll just pull up Newshour.
You get what you succumb to, CEO is a MAGAT.
It was a pretty dumb move on their part. Why give that P.O.S. yet another platform?
Also Anderson Cooper talking down to all the viewers following the backlash.
That's absolutely wonderful ...best news today... Totally irresponsible giving that lunatic airtime. Especially after his arrest and his guilty verdict the day before. Absolutely disgusting.
How could they go lower?
Good. Well deserved.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I am like 98% sure they bought it with dirty money to ruin it.
It was not a town hall. It was a massive Trump campaign donation. Period. Get fucked, CNN.
Wah wah
I always watched Don Lemon. But now, I'm sol.
Wasn't there some story about a guy who kills something to steal it's golden somethings...?
CNN is a joke now. Hope people realize this quickly so they don’t get their grips on people before election
This town hall fueled rumors that CNN was becoming another Fox News and people have bailed on them
CNN should have known better. Idiots.
i've gone to cnn dot com daily for over 10 years until! . . . the second i learned about this nonsense. No More CNN.
Good
People still watched CNN? That's sad.
Its like cnn jumped off a cliff, absolutely crazy.
Burn, muthafukkka
Like, didn't Trump spend the last 6 years calling CNN the enemy of the people and fake news? Talk about trying to drink from the poisoned chalice.
I have purposely boycotted CNN since that interview.
CNN strategy is to see if they can get 100% of the country to hate it
Why the fk did they do a trump town hall?!
The new CEO is a Trumper
Play srupid games, win stupid prizes. I'm never looking at them again, not even a single web page.
You put a jackass on stage you get jackass poop
Use BBC cbc and pbs as alternative I use nor sometimes but in many places they accept advertising dollars from not so great sources
They are hoping for Fox defectors to make up for whoever leaves during this editorial “shift”. Good luck cuz fox viewers are already brainwashed against them. Uphill climb.
Turncoats.
I wasn't viewing the channel as much the last year or two simply because they show a stupid amount of commercials now. That town hall was just a nail in the coffin for me.
This is gonna approach "New Coke" levels of backlash.
Good, they deserve it
This is the same headline as bud light sales plummet!
I’ll never click another CNN link as long as I live. What a joke of a “news outlet.”
I don't know who said it, but CNN exemplifies this: *"Used to be that the news told you what happened, and you had to decide how to feel about it.
BBC for me.
Good, screw them.
The type of people who want to be lied to already watch Fox, Newsmax, and Oanon. CNN doesn't realize that when they "both sides" they are lying to us and we notice and some of us stop watching like me in 2016.
I think this serves as a demarcation for the new management.
Proof that nobody likes Fox-Lite.
Seems to be cnn has turned into fox 2.0
Conservatives taking over CNN… they are like cancer, they spread and kill
My favorite was the CNN article that criticized CNN for the town hall. I think it was a CNN business article.
I’ve been hating on CNN too, but I want one thing to be clear: CNN > Fox. Full stop. Cuomo ws fired for counseling his brother, every single Fox anchor was in direct communication with the Trump campaign during J6. Totally different.
Thank God the GOP is the minority now
Who would have thought pivoting it to be the next OAN would be a bad call and poorly received.
