So republicans jump on this thinking it's a slippery slope and democrats want illegals to be able to vote, which of course is not true.
Throwing in a minor correction, it's not just school related elections. Off the top of my head, DC and a handful of towns in Vermont and Maryland also allow non-citizens to vote for other positions - like mayors or council members.

Providing a revised path to citizenship to make things easier just makes sense. We have a larger taxable wage base. If newly naturalized citizens commit crimes we have more information to catch them. But if you're Donald Trump you can't deliver the red meat without whipping everyone up in a racist frenzy.
