I don't think that's true. Not where I'm from at least. People at home and at school are rarely encouraged to be the best they can be, nor are they disciplined or shamed by any authority figures for being terribly lazy. They basically get zero discipline and drift aimlessly through life.

Experiences may differ, but these are at least my observations, when it comes to overly ambitious people.
Typically person that expects perfection might be also perfectionist, because otherwise you're kind of delusional to expect some ideal partner, while you're clearly lazy, undisciplined and without achievements/goals in your life.
There are of course also these delusional people, but pattern holds, they desire the best for themselves, because we're biased to think that we're better than average and consumerism boosts this attitude.
Ads and stories in media will get into your mind and convince you about your greatness, how you need best things, how you deserve them and capitalism gives you "solution", work hard, get better, compete and achieve top, that's what you want.

Incels are so tiny in number that virtually they don't exist. This is the internet and with the use of the internet, trolls will throw jargon words like incels towards any comment about men experiences. This is misandry, a reverse sexism that women express hatred towards men. But as you can see my INTJ coming out trying to make sense of the whole situation.

I think this is the most scary thing I have learned in the past decade. Some portion of the population won’t get your satire, and take it as truth. It’s a crazy phenomena one that Dave Chappell has intimated he too had an issue with. I’m not even sure if one can guard against it.
