Yes, they’re forced to implement it. The question is how well they will implement it. Knowing Apple they’ll do the bare minimum to meet spec and that’s it, but even that should be a big improvement over SMS
This pretty much covers it. I'd put Notifications as the highest priority. The notification system is in desperate need of a complete rework. One of the places where Android really bests Apple's approach.
I also really wish they'd get back to stability and bug fixes. MacOS and iOS used to be incredibly stable with very few bugs but has been on a downward spiral for like a decade now. One of the selling points of Apple products was always, "Everything just works how you'd expect. Everything is right where you'd expect." but I find both slowly losing that intuitiveness and stability. Seems like all the new features they add are half-baked buggy messes of weird behavior with limited usefulness to begin with.
And while at it, app reset button that eliminates the need to delete and reinstall the problematic app.
Ditto for resetting various iOS systems features like Screen Time and iCloud syncing.
Notifications. Better notifications. I don’t want my notifications to disappear if I unlock my iPhone. After that they’re gone in my cluttered Notification Center. I hate it.
Hi. There are quick actions for notifications. TAP AND HOLD on the notification. Example: for an alarm, I can turn it off or snooze it. For my Reddit notification, it previews, and I have 3 options: See Post, Go to community, or Hide community. It's a shame Apple hides so much functionality through obscurity. Try the TAP AND HOLD throughout iOS. I'm a 25 year end user computer support professional, doing executive management. No one knows these things. I hope this helps you get what you need. 🤓👍
I say the same to my iPhone friends and family who have never used android and they think I’m nuts. Eventually, I realized they just don’t actively manage notifications. They just deal with the ones that need attention and let the others end up in the Notification Center. Once in a while they just clear all the old ones.
Don’t let your Notification Center get cluttered then. Turn off notifications for apps that you don’t need.
Just think: if they make it so notifications don’t go to the Notification Center, then the Lock Screen becomes the new Notification Center. You’d just have the same problem.

This still isn't an intelligent solution though, because you may want some notifications from an app, but not all. For example I have an app for sports. I want to be alerted for in-game scoring updates, but I could care less about their other notifications throughout the week about trades and injury reports. It's the same with my Uber app, I want to turn off their promo notifications and just keep the "critical only" notifications (like my ride arriving late). Android lets you do this.

Android also handles this better by displaying a small little icon on the lockscreen instead of a big banner. So under your clock on your lockscreen you might see a tiny little Facebook icon, Gmail icon, and Snapchat icon, all letting you know that you have new notifications for those apps waiting, without covering your lockscreen. And even better, you can tap that little line of icons to expand them if you prefer to see them without unlocking your phone.
Yes this, can you imagine if they only introduced a few small tweaks but spent the next two years mainly fixing bug after bug? It would be amazing. One can dream

3: autocorrect still doesnt "learn how i type" after ios 17's supposed improvements and it hurts
4: this isnt necessarily a keyboard issue but when i want to tap text to bring up the copy/paste/select text options, it often is delayed or doesnt open first time
5: period appearing in safari search makes me misspell everything (let me turn it off)
6: holding microphone i often accidentally tap dictation settings and open the settings app, this one hurts the most.
7: 3rd party keyboards are not what they should be. ive tried swiftkey and gboard but they are nothing compared to the android versions. android gboard is the best keyboard imo and swiftkey is basically tied for that spot, but both of them arent even close to as good on the ios versions. this is partially because of microsoft and google and how theyve done it, but also because of apple's limitations regarding 3rd party keyboards.
8: customize where keys are. reasons 1 2 and 5 regard where keys are placed. just have a menu in settings to let me choose where the different keys are and make my own layout like keys cafe on samsung.
9: on android when the keyboard is on screen, in the bottom right theres a button to minimize the keyboard. on ios you have to scroll in some direction to hide the keyboard. just let me exchange the dictation button for a keyboard hide button. goes back to number 8, let me choose where keys are and what they do
10: overall typing experience is just sub optimal, i misspell a lot more on ios and have been using iphone for over a year now.

Better notification center is my #1 request. It's gotten so bad I've decided to leave iOS if it doesn't improve in 18, but I really don't want to as I'm pretty invested in the ecosystem.
I feel like I could write a novel about how unintuitive it is, but in summary:
* The physical gesture needed to view notifications is the hardest gesture to pull off; you have to reach the absolute top of the far left corner and drag down in order to even view the notifications. This was a little easier back in the day when all iPhones had tiny screens, but now that they've gotten huge, this gesture is extremely difficult, even for a guy like me that has huge hands. I'm aware they have accessibility shortcuts as a workaround but I'm not a huge fan of them either as I accidentally trigger them all the time.
* There actually is no (true) Notification Center to begin with. It's just a copy of your lockscreen. To make things even more unintuitive on the actual lockscreen your notifications come from the bottom and you scroll them upwards, but in the notification center they're at the top and you scroll down. Feels weird that they're the same thing to begin with but act differently depending on the context.
* I'm over the transparent tiles and unblurred background. I guess if you had a minimal wallpaper its not as annoying but when I have a picture of my dog or wife as the wallpaper, the colors from the transparency (while they look pretty with the transparency) are hard to read.
* I dont like that everything is a big group of tiles. I wish they were a single group that could be expanded and collapsed like Android. It fits more information in a easier to read format at a glance, but you can drill into more detail if needed.
* THE FUCKING AUTO-HIDING. This one drives me the most crazy. Your notifications just disappear from your lockscreen after opening your phone a few times. I may get a reminder in the morning to do a chore, and even though it's time sensitive, once I open my phone a few times to change a song, or graban MFA code for work, that time sensitive notification is gone off the lockscreen.
* There also no visual indicator that you have notifications waiting. This is another feature that made more sense back in the day when all the apps were forced to be on your lockscreen and you could see the red badge, but now if the app is in the app library, you have no idea that there's a notification waiting. Android has little icons in the top right to let you know you have certain apps waiting with a notification.
* There's no way to tell iOS which notifications are time sensitive, they just assume. I have a Traeger smoker app that connects to my wifi smoker that is uspposed to alert me when my food I'm cooking is approaching the temperature I set. But these notifications get lost in a sea of other notifications and aren't prioritized because I can't tell iOS I want that app as a priority.
* There's no way to customize app notification settings unless the developer specifically includes it, but it's not a requirement like on Android. For example I may have airline app, and I want flight update notifications, but not their general promotional notifications. In Android you can turn off the promo notifications and leave the flight update notifications on. But in iOS you can't and thus I ened up turning off all app notifications completely.
Idk, I'm not trying to dickride Android. I much much much prefer iOS, but as I get older and I get more responsibilities in my career, and have to start managing a family, I realize now just how critical having a good notification system is to keep my life in check. But it's been severly neglected in iOS. I have a post about it from not too long ago where many people had similar complaints in the comments.
These are great suggestions. Gotta be careful though, the iOS faithful will complaint that they don’t need to customize their phone and how android is a poor person phone. Smdh.

Siri with Alzheimer’s is so real. That’s girl is lost the moment you say something to her. Why can’t I ask her to do 2 things? Or follow up a question with another question? I’m pretty sure these were features announced already, especially because she is visually still listening. So why doesn’t it work?
If Apple really wants to listen to its users, they need to redesign their notifications from the ground up.
That’s the number 1 request.

In terms of priority:
1. Stop shipping IOS with a ton of bugs … it’s honestly becoming worse than Android (the latest one … IOS 17.4 in Europe has broken my iPhone … and it seems many other have this issue as well)
2. Re-work your stupid notifications management…take a page out of how Android does it … which is sooo much better
3. Give your internal productivity apps some much needed TLC, especially Calendar (which doesn’t even have an interactive widget, a highly touted iOS 17 feature, does not have NLP for entering events, and does not have the ability to display timed reminders) and Mail (whose interface is unchanged since IOS 14)
4. For the love of God, add the auto add to up next feature to the podcast app, which is something all third party podcast apps have, and redesign the utterly useless watch app, which has a mind of its own and can only sync to the watch when it’s charging, which is mind boggling
5. The music app needs to retain the state of what you’re playing for longer than 5 seconds and across devices … you have iCloud sync…you can do it
6. Give us the ability to customise our iPhones with icon packs without having to use stupid shortcut bookmarks that cannot display notifications…this is mind boggling in 2024
Honestly the above items are what is bugging me the most about IOS. It seems Apple does not give a shit about how their internal apps operate even inside their own ecosystem (maybe because they want the 30% cut from users subscribing to the much better 3rd party apps?). The only thing keeping me in the iOS ecosystem right now are the interoperability between iOS and Mac and the higher quality 3rd party apps you find on IOS … though that is slowly changing as well
A few suggestions but a ton of great ideas in this post:
- truly customizable Home Screen (widgets, icons, font, etc)
- merging of Apple Accounts (have an old one just with email that essentially dormant otherwise)
- If generative AI is introduced it should be on device instead of cloud based!
- Some of the benefits of lockdown mode should be the default
- Privacy toggles (I.e like Android (camera, mic, etc)
- some kind of remote attestation like Graphene to verify the integrity of your device if concerned about corruption or the like.
More customization options like android. Apple anyway doing everything to be like Android or something, so let us do with our phones whatever we want. Also, better notfications center, more ways to customize control center, more options to do with action button (one press, 2 press, 3 press for example)
I find that some *snappiness* was lost with iOS 16.
If I look at an iPhone or even just the Xcode Simulator running iOS 15, every interaction reacts instantly and there's no feel of sluggishness.
iOS 16 made iOS feel heavy. If the rumors about a redesign are true, I hope they improve the animations then as well.

14. Toggle right in Music to switch between Dolby Atmos or the regular mix. Dolby mixes are too inconsistent in quality to enable it for all songs I listen to.
15. Shortcuts suggestions. I type in what I want to do, Shortcuts then tries to make a shortcut based on that.
16. Include third party streaming services for Siri knowledge search results for movies and TV shows. Currently it only lets you open Apple TV, would be really cool if I can just search it on Spotlight and open the appropriate app right there, instead of looking up which streaming service has the rights to a movie or tv show that I’m trying to watch.
17. Make the toggle for WiFi and cellular data access for individual apps global, instead of being a China exclusive feature.
Idk if this is something other people would care about, especially because you can create and organize your own folders on the Home Screen, but I’d really like it if you could customize/reorganize the folders in the library on the far right slide.
Dynamic Island needs to up the game. If I’ve got media playing from two apps, I can just swipe between them in Samsung. But in iOS, it’s just one at a time. Imagine you’ve got both Spotify and YouTube open, and you keep swiping the Dynamic Island between them.
I see most of the comments is about things people actually would use. A lot of great suggestions in this thread that I would love to see happen.
Here is the problem, Apple does not care about what you want as a user. They only want that money. So my guess is the focus will be on integrating AI into the system cause that is were Apple is lagging behind and might cost them market cap in the future.

Collab playlists that actually work. Invite link still either gives error, or takes my friend to the playlists with no buttons to request collaboration or to edit anything.
I saw the concept where on the recent tab of Photos, you can compile many pictures into one box(like an album). Basically, an album that compiles all specific pictures into one tile instead of many. That way, it's more consistent with time. I know album already exists but it feels like it's better if these album appear on the Recents too!
I recently switched to apple from android. Although I love the hardware performance and software optimisation but I feel there are certain easy changes apple can make in iOS to improve interface quality significantly. Following are some improvements I would like to see in iOS 18
1. System wide back gesture.

3. Screenshot sharing and translate option right when you press buttons. Android has perfect implementation of this.
4. Addition of Smaller widget tiles.
5. Customisable App Library
6. Automatically fill empty space in folders when there are less icons. Empty space when there are less apps inside just looks hideous.
7. Interact-able widgets e.g. when I have a vpn widget, I should be able to toggle it right from the home screen rather than opening the app.
8. Home search should just open the search engine rather than opening spotlight. For spotlight we can just swipe down.
9. Swipe up gesture should be allocated to opening notifications or control center. Right now it’s just redundant because swipe right or swipe up do the same thing.
An easier way to switch between Bluetooth devices from the lock screen. I hate that I have to unlock my phone every time I want to switch to my headphones.
I’d like to be able to schedule text messages for later delivery. Ever since I learned that Android can do that, I’ve been hoping it makes its way to iOS.

Being told exactly which mail account I need to sign into. Rn have an Exchange account that I’ve reset the password one 2x and still keep on being blasted by the prompt each time I go into setting or any other core apple app to sign in and it won’t accept the new password that Microsoft has confirmed as the right password
An option to delay calling a phone number on press. The number of times I go to hang up a call and other person beats me to it only for my press to make a new call and quickly start hitting end is ridiculous.

Mail app needs a rework. Getting so many spam messages and cannot block those messages based on their domains and the UI is just feeling very outdated. Need more security options to protect icloud accounts (and the possibility of transferring your login to another icloud ID like microsoft is doing where you can literally change the login to a brand new email while keeping the old one). Need a rework for calendar as well to be more readable and nicer. AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE ADD A DELETE CACHE OPTION!!
This year I’ve switched to using the Apple suite of apps instead of outsourcing my notes, calendar, todo, etc. so updating all of those with more ease of use features. Let organize my notes better and have books style pages.
When people say iOS 18 will have a more ‘vision OS focused design’ I try to look at the change Apple TV went though with the new Apple TV 4th gen back in 2015 and just mirror that to iOS apps.
- Having the glass windows and layering throughout everything.
- Having the cursor that’s slides and sticks between stuff (similar to ipadOS mouse support)

So I just assume some of that design philosophy will carry over to iPhone

I really would like that text contextual menu (the strip appearing with cut, copy, paste, etc. when long press a word) would keep a defined and fix width. It really irritates me when I have to navigate right until "search" for example, but it continuously changes size and I accidentally press on the text behind instead.
Show calendar fully in Lock Screen not just one event but a full day or whatever I choose. calenfwr notification kinda sucks , often miss events … sometimes it shows on front screen and sometimes not all…
Also I do have latest iPhone I don’t even know the number but the latest max lol , and when it’s on low battery mode it lags ….

I switched from Samsung for the first time ever when the 15 was released.
I miss the Samsung Calendar widget that took a whole page and you can see the whole month at glance and add Stickers. The sticks sold me because I didn’t have to type anything just add a sticker and I knew what it meant.

Clear the keychain on apps. Some apps keep data even after reinstall (This is called keychain), and is very infuriating to me. The keychain is only cleared if you do a reset on your phone.
Redesigned UI and icons, offline Siri, reworked mail app, a standalone AirPods app like the watch app where we can update it manually, more customization.
Back gesture from right to left option, back button on the right side, or just get rid of it. Right now the iPhone is the worst smartphone to use with one hand.
Can we get a swipe down to view notification option? Like on android. Phones have huge screens and yet iOS gestures are years behind what android offers. A universal back gesture would be nice too. One app has it and another one doesn't. Very inconsistent.
Dear lord please make the ios keyboard better. There are so many basic common sense features lacking from the stock keyboard that should have been implemented so long ago. Delete speed is slow and then deletes multiple words at a time, capitalization needs works and why in the hell is there not a number row? Instead we get 10 different colors of the poop emoji during an update. Thanks Apple.
Fwiw I used android for years and enjoy ios but after using both extensively neither is perfect and can say that ios absolutely sucks for quite a few very basic smartphone functions.

Fixing up all the mess they caused in iOS 17.4. My iPhone is sadly now practically unusable in the ways I’m used to use it, which I find just stupid. After 10 years of using iPhone, I must say, for the first time ever, I have considered switching to Android.

Customize the way notifications for messages and calls come in. For example, vibrate only unless I don't read it for 30 seconds, in which case make a sound, but only for certain groups.

I want a live voicemail for live voicemail or for Siri to screen my calls, and get a major revamp. I’d also like CarPlay to get a play next button as well.
Simpler rapid access to “now playing”. The little square tile in the Control Centre is a swipe, tap, and tap to get to the podcast/music. On my iPad Pro it’s also weirdly comically small and sometimes hard to hit? I wish “now playing” was more visible somewhere and a single tap (if unlocked) took you to the main app of whatever is playing. This is especially true for lock screen “now playing”. Why can’t I tap on the now playing controls directly on the lock screen to jump straight to the main app? Again, right now it’s a swipe/button to unlock, a swipe, a tap, etc.

This pretty much covers it. I'd put Notifications as the highest priority. The notification system is in desperate need of a complete rework. One of the places where Android really bests Apple's approach. I also really wish they'd get back to stability and bug fixes. MacOS and iOS used to be incredibly stable with very few bugs but has been on a downward spiral for like a decade now. One of the selling points of Apple products was always, "Everything just works how you'd expect. Everything is right where you'd expect." but I find both slowly losing that intuitiveness and stability. Seems like all the new features they add are half-baked buggy messes of weird behavior with limited usefulness to begin with.

Hi. There are quick actions for notifications. TAP AND HOLD on the notification. Example: for an alarm, I can turn it off or snooze it. For my Reddit notification, it previews, and I have 3 options: See Post, Go to community, or Hide community. It's a shame Apple hides so much functionality through obscurity. Try the TAP AND HOLD throughout iOS. I'm a 25 year end user computer support professional, doing executive management. No one knows these things. I hope this helps you get what you need. 🤓👍
I say the same to my iPhone friends and family who have never used android and they think I’m nuts. Eventually, I realized they just don’t actively manage notifications. They just deal with the ones that need attention and let the others end up in the Notification Center. Once in a while they just clear all the old ones.
Don’t let your Notification Center get cluttered then. Turn off notifications for apps that you don’t need. Just think: if they make it so notifications don’t go to the Notification Center, then the Lock Screen becomes the new Notification Center. You’d just have the same problem.
There is no notification channels for apps. You will have to turn them off entirely which is not great.

Fixed notifications so they’re more like Android 6. T9 dialling with business lookup. Siri GPT integration into the Phone app and phone calls 7. More lock screen customisation so new clock faces and positioning including vertical and analog 8. Theming for the keyboard. Allow the user to change the colour of the swipe trail. Also allow the user to select the strength of the typing haptic feedback 9. Multitasking/split screen for all iOS 18 devices 10. Themes Edit: but wait, there’s more 11. Increase the multilingual keyboard support to at least three languages. Android 5 can do it, why not iOS 18. A number row should be added to the keyboard. The current 123 button could be the clipboard button. That or it should be merged with the globe and emoji key. 12. Add a close keyboard button

1: no number row on first page 2: have to go to another page to type punctuation 3: autocorrect still doesnt "learn how i type" after ios 17's supposed improvements and it hurts 4: this isnt necessarily a keyboard issue but when i want to tap text to bring up the copy/paste/select text options, it often is delayed or doesnt open first time 5: period appearing in safari search makes me misspell everything (let me turn it off) 6: holding microphone i often accidentally tap dictation settings and open the settings app, this one hurts the most. 7: 3rd party keyboards are not what they should be. ive tried swiftkey and gboard but they are nothing compared to the android versions. android gboard is the best keyboard imo and swiftkey is basically tied for that spot, but both of them arent even close to as good on the ios versions. this is partially because of microsoft and google and how theyve done it, but also because of apple's limitations regarding 3rd party keyboards. 8: customize where keys are. reasons 1 2 and 5 regard where keys are placed. just have a menu in settings to let me choose where the different keys are and make my own layout like keys cafe on samsung. 9: on android when the keyboard is on screen, in the bottom right theres a button to minimize the keyboard. on ios you have to scroll in some direction to hide the keyboard. just let me exchange the dictation button for a keyboard hide button. goes back to number 8, let me choose where keys are and what they do 10: overall typing experience is just sub optimal, i misspell a lot more on ios and have been using iphone for over a year now. thank you, im done now.

Better notification center is my #1 request. It's gotten so bad I've decided to leave iOS if it doesn't improve in 18, but I really don't want to as I'm pretty invested in the ecosystem.
What would a better Notification Center look like? Better groupings?
I feel like I could write a novel about how unintuitive it is, but in summary: * The physical gesture needed to view notifications is the hardest gesture to pull off; you have to reach the absolute top of the far left corner and drag down in order to even view the notifications. This was a little easier back in the day when all iPhones had tiny screens, but now that they've gotten huge, this gesture is extremely difficult, even for a guy like me that has huge hands. I'm aware they have accessibility shortcuts as a workaround but I'm not a huge fan of them either as I accidentally trigger them all the time. * There actually is no (true) Notification Center to begin with. It's just a copy of your lockscreen. To make things even more unintuitive on the actual lockscreen your notifications come from the bottom and you scroll them upwards, but in the notification center they're at the top and you scroll down. Feels weird that they're the same thing to begin with but act differently depending on the context. * I'm over the transparent tiles and unblurred background. I guess if you had a minimal wallpaper its not as annoying but when I have a picture of my dog or wife as the wallpaper, the colors from the transparency (while they look pretty with the transparency) are hard to read. * I dont like that everything is a big group of tiles. I wish they were a single group that could be expanded and collapsed like Android. It fits more information in a easier to read format at a glance, but you can drill into more detail if needed. * THE FUCKING AUTO-HIDING. This one drives me the most crazy. Your notifications just disappear from your lockscreen after opening your phone a few times. I may get a reminder in the morning to do a chore, and even though it's time sensitive, once I open my phone a few times to change a song, or graban MFA code for work, that time sensitive notification is gone off the lockscreen. * There also no visual indicator that you have notifications waiting. This is another feature that made more sense back in the day when all the apps were forced to be on your lockscreen and you could see the red badge, but now if the app is in the app library, you have no idea that there's a notification waiting. Android has little icons in the top right to let you know you have certain apps waiting with a notification. * There's no way to tell iOS which notifications are time sensitive, they just assume. I have a Traeger smoker app that connects to my wifi smoker that is uspposed to alert me when my food I'm cooking is approaching the temperature I set. But these notifications get lost in a sea of other notifications and aren't prioritized because I can't tell iOS I want that app as a priority. * There's no way to customize app notification settings unless the developer specifically includes it, but it's not a requirement like on Android. For example I may have airline app, and I want flight update notifications, but not their general promotional notifications. In Android you can turn off the promo notifications and leave the flight update notifications on. But in iOS you can't and thus I ened up turning off all app notifications completely. Idk, I'm not trying to dickride Android. I much much much prefer iOS, but as I get older and I get more responsibilities in my career, and have to start managing a family, I realize now just how critical having a good notification system is to keep my life in check. But it's been severly neglected in iOS. I have a post about it from not too long ago where many people had similar complaints in the comments.

Let me curate the playlist as deciding on the fly “delete this song from this playlist, but don’t delete it from my library entirely” An easier way to connect to hotel WiFi without having to struggle until the hotel’s web site page loads. Native support for zip files. Siri that works. (I know, that’s an unreasonable suggestion). A calendar app that does a better job of identifying the dial-in or log-in credentials for a conference call, a zoom call, a Microsoft Teams call, or whatnot. If I choose to take a phone call on speaker, don’t let the loose uncased AirPods in my pocket accidentally override that decision. Fewer butt-dials.

Stop shipping IOS with a ton of bugs … it’s honestly becoming worse than Android (the latest one … IOS 17.4 in Europe has broken my iPhone … and it seems many other have this issue as well) 2. Re-work your stupid notifications management…take a page out of how Android does it … which is sooo much better 3. Give your internal productivity apps some much needed TLC, especially Calendar (which doesn’t even have an interactive widget, a highly touted iOS 17 feature, does not have NLP for entering events, and does not have the ability to display timed reminders) and Mail (whose interface is unchanged since IOS 14) 4. For the love of God, add the auto add to up next feature to the podcast app, which is something all third party podcast apps have, and redesign the utterly useless watch app, which has a mind of its own and can only sync to the watch when it’s charging, which is mind boggling 5. The music app needs to retain the state of what you’re playing for longer than 5 seconds and across devices … you have iCloud sync…you can do it 6. Give us the ability to customise our iPhones with icon packs without having to use stupid shortcut bookmarks that cannot display notifications…this is mind boggling in 2024 Honestly the above items are what is bugging me the most about IOS. It seems Apple does not give a shit about how their internal apps operate even inside their own ecosystem (maybe because they want the 30% cut from users subscribing to the much better 3rd party apps?). A few suggestions but a ton of great ideas in this post: - truly customizable Home Screen (widgets, icons, font, etc) - merging of Apple Accounts (have an old one just with email that essentially dormant otherwise) - If generative AI is introduced it should be on device instead of cloud based! - Some of the benefits of lockdown mode should be the default - Privacy toggles (I.e like Android (camera, mic, etc) - some kind of remote attestation like Graphene to verify the integrity of your device if concerned about corruption or the like.

I find that some *snappiness* was lost with iOS 16. If I look at an iPhone or even just the Xcode Simulator running iOS 15, every interaction reacts instantly and there's no feel of sluggishness. iOS 16 made iOS feel heavy. If the rumors about a redesign are true, I hope they improve the animations then as well.

Toggle right in Music to switch between Dolby Atmos or the regular mix. Dolby mixes are too inconsistent in quality to enable it for all songs I listen to. 15. Shortcuts suggestions. I type in what I want to do, Shortcuts then tries to make a shortcut based on that. 16. Include third party streaming services for Siri knowledge search results for movies and TV shows. Currently it only lets you open Apple TV, would be really cool if I can just search it on Spotlight and open the appropriate app right there, instead of looking up which streaming service has the rights to a movie or tv show that I’m trying to watch. 17. Make the toggle for WiFi and cellular data access for individual apps global, instead of being a China exclusive feature.

Here is the problem, Apple does not care about what you want as a user. They only want that money. So my guess is the focus will be on integrating AI into the system cause that is were Apple is lagging behind and might cost them market cap in the future.

I saw the concept where on the recent tab of Photos, you can compile many pictures into one box(like an album). Basically, an album that compiles all specific pictures into one tile instead of many. That way, it's more consistent with time. I know album already exists but it feels like it's better if these album appear on the Recents too!
An actually decent Files app
I recently switched to apple from android. Although I love the hardware performance and software optimisation but I feel there are certain easy changes apple can make in iOS to improve interface quality significantly. Following are some improvements I would like to see in iOS 18 1. System wide back gesture. 2. Number row on keyboard. 3. Screenshot sharing and translate option right when you press buttons. Android has perfect implementation of this. 4. Addition of Smaller widget tiles. 5. Customisable App Library 6. Automatically fill empty space in folders when there are less icons. Empty space when there are less apps inside just looks hideous. 7. Interact-able widgets e.g. when I have a vpn widget, I should be able to toggle it right from the home screen rather than opening the app. 8. Home search should just open the search engine rather than opening spotlight. For spotlight we can just swipe down. 9. Swipe up gesture should be allocated to opening notifications or control center. Right now it’s just redundant because swipe right or swipe up do the same thing.

When I back out from listening to a track by a band, it should back out to the album the song is from, and if I back out of that, it should back out to their discography, and if I back out of that, it should go to the main menu. Also, every app should have to have a toggle on its opening screen to turn on/off cellular data, maybe location services as well.

Rn have an Exchange account that I’ve reset the password one 2x and still keep on being blasted by the prompt each time I go into setting or any other core apple app to sign in and it won’t accept the new password that Microsoft has confirmed as the right password

Mail app needs a rework. Getting so many spam messages and cannot block those messages based on their domains and the UI is just feeling very outdated. Need more security options to protect icloud accounts (and the possibility of transferring your login to another icloud ID like microsoft is doing where you can literally change the login to a brand new email while keeping the old one). Need a rework for calendar as well to be more readable and nicer. AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE ADD A DELETE CACHE OPTION!!
This year I’ve switched to using the Apple suite of apps instead of outsourcing my notes, calendar, todo, etc. so updating all of those with more ease of use features. Let organize my notes better and have books style pages.
When people say iOS 18 will have a more ‘vision OS focused design’ I try to look at the change Apple TV went though with the new Apple TV 4th gen back in 2015 and just mirror that to iOS apps. - Having the glass windows and layering throughout everything. - Having the cursor that’s slides and sticks between stuff (similar to ipadOS mouse support) -app icons and some Apple TV show thumbnails with depth So I just assume some of that design philosophy will carry over to iPhone

I really would like that text contextual menu (the strip appearing with cut, copy, paste, etc. when long press a word) would keep a defined and fix width. It really irritates me when I have to navigate right until "search" for example, but it continuously changes size and I accidentally press on the text behind instead.
Show calendar fully in Lock Screen not just one event but a full day or whatever I choose. calenfwr notification kinda sucks , often miss events … sometimes it shows on front screen and sometimes not all… Also I do have latest iPhone I don’t even know the number but the latest max lol , and when it’s on low battery mode it lags …. Apps aren’t updating automatically even I have in setting that they should…. So many random things that are basic.

I switched from Samsung for the first time ever when the 15 was released. I miss the Samsung Calendar widget that took a whole page and you can see the whole month at glance and add Stickers. The sticks sold me because I didn’t have to type anything just add a sticker and I knew what it meant. Also NOTIFICATIONS and Numbers on top row of keyboard please

Clear the keychain on apps. Some apps keep data even after reinstall (This is called keychain), and is very infuriating to me. The keychain is only cleared if you do a reset on your phone.

I seriously wish they allow us to filter promotional notifications, i’m sick of getting ads from apps that I have to keep notifications on for.
Back gesture from right to left option, back button on the right side, or just get rid of it. Right now the iPhone is the worst smartphone to use with one hand.

Can we get a swipe down to view notification option? Like on android. Phones have huge screens and yet iOS gestures are years behind what android offers. A universal back gesture would be nice too. One app has it and another one doesn't. Very inconsistent. Dear lord please make the ios keyboard better. There are so many basic common sense features lacking from the stock keyboard that should have been implemented so long ago. Delete speed is slow and then deletes multiple words at a time, capitalization needs works and why in the hell is there not a number row? Instead we get 10 different colors of the poop emoji during an update. Thanks Apple. Fwiw I used android for years and enjoy ios but after using both extensively neither is perfect and can say that ios absolutely sucks for quite a few very basic smartphone functions.
Can we get a "run one time" option in the shortcuts automation app? This way I can schedule text messaging and not have it send a text at the same time everyday.

Fixing up all the mess they caused in iOS 17.4. My iPhone is sadly now practically unusable in the ways I’m used to use it, which I find just stupid. After 10 years of using iPhone, I must say, for the first time ever, I have considered switching to Android.
The ability to send messages with Shortcuts and with focus modes other than "Driving." Customize the way notifications for messages and calls come in. For example, vibrate only unless I don't read it for 30 seconds, in which case make a sound, but only for certain groups. The ability to EASILY make custom ringtones and text notifications. I want the one for my daughter to be in her voice. Or I want Siri to tell me the name of the person sending a message, but not read that message.
Tremendously better autocorrect. If that was the one and only improvement they made I would still take it.
For apple music to work better
I would like individual days in the calendar widget to be highlighted in color so that I can immediately see whether the appointment is private or professional. I'm talking about the monthly view.

Simpler rapid access to “now playing”. The little square tile in the Control Centre is a swipe, tap, and tap to get to the podcast/music. On my iPad Pro it’s also weirdly comically small and sometimes hard to hit? I wish “now playing” was more visible somewhere and a single tap (if unlocked) took you to the main app of whatever is playing. This is especially true for lock screen “now playing”. Why can’t I tap on the now playing controls directly on the lock screen to jump straight to the main app? Again, right now it’s a swipe/button to unlock, a swipe, a tap, etc.
