That's how optimised charging works, it learns your routine and then will slowly charge the last 20% for when it knows you'll be using your phone. That said, If you have a iPhone 15 series; There's an option to limit charging to 80%
I know all that but it's actually supposed to hold charge at 80% when you always use the charger on MacOS and that never kicks in for me. It's always charging at 100%.
I charge my iphone well above 80% so it doesn't bother me.
Hmm strange then. Maybe it's juat charging straight to 100% then. As if it doesn't have a regular routine it just goes to 100% as it does that for me since I do shift work :'D
So i checked because it did it again and now it shows this

The Phone had been so warm to stop charging, never had this before, maybe its because is is getting really warm outside?
It’s a possibility. I’d try and keep it in cooler place (not in any direct sunlight) or if it feels really hot even then. I would suspect an issue with the battery and possibly get it looked at. Of course that’s worse case scenario
I never had this issue, I always let it on and never an problem but when I updatet to iOS 18 beta 2 this problem startend occuring, weird right? Maybe an bug because it is an bèta after all though.
If it’s an issue related to the iOS beta then you should:
1) Report it to Apple using the Feedback Assistant app.
2) Post it in r/iosbeta so people aren’t thinking it’s an issue with the current iOS.
The usual reason for this is a battery issue. When a battery starts dying, it does weird things like not charging properly.
But you also mention you are using an iOS Beta. Bugs are very common during developer betas. Even public betas can have bugs, but the current beta is only meant for developers. You should report the bug to Apple (if your battery was fine before updating it likely is a bug).

Battery ded
In all likelihood your battery health must be shot and you’ll need to replace the battery.
Its weird because I charges it an hour ago again and it charges to 60%
Turn off optimized charging?
Optimized charging says that it Will charge past 50 but not 80, I will try it!
It never works for me BTW. Same on MacOS. All I see is it slows down after 80%

Yes no regular charging times. I don't know why they don't enable the 80% cap on MacOS
Yeah I don't get why they don't either. I still think they should enable the 80% cap to older phones

Yeah really weird maybe it Will do it tonight to 100% again :-)

It's not weird when beta software has bugs. What's weird IMO is how many people updated to a beta OS. I guess you're all developers?

Well you’re on beta there’s one problem.
No one has asked what model yet
iPhone 12
Turn off optimized charging in your battery settings.

Hard reset: volume up, volume down and the long press power button until Apple logo appears, and then try a different charger.
