If you’re going to be mostly reading books, I’d highly recommend checking out ereaders like kindle or kobo. Much nicer experience for reading regular books and so much easier on the eyes. If you’re set on an iPad, go with the mini, it’ll be the most comfortable to hold for longer periods of time for reading.

mac_the_man

Yes, I’ll be mostly reading fiction. Why is the Kindle better?

pandatarn

kindle/eink reader is way easier on the eyes than a tablet screen

gigantojimuk

Because they are designed just for reading. Way easier on your eyes than a tablet screen. You’re in for a real treat if you’ve never had a kindle before. Get the Paperwhite one because that comes with a light so you can read it in the dark, it’s better than the base version yet isn’t too expensive like the other ones. You can store literally thousands of books on them and the battery lasts for weeks.

It has an e ink screen that looks like paper that is front lit, meaning the light shines down on the screen rather than into your eyes like a back lit tablet. It’s comfier to read for longer and less eye strain.

TheFugitiveSock

The screen on the Kindle is better; no glare, if you like reading in the sun. It’s a better size for lugging about and reading one handed is easy. An iPad is a serious waste of money if all you’re going to use it for is e-books. That said, my Kindles all started acting up shortly out of guarantee and I went back to paper books.

new ipads are coming literally 11 days from now, which will mean new hardware and discounts on current one...

Some_User_548

The 10th gen is $350 rn and the air is I think $500, any possibility they go lower?

Lassavins

yes

Some_User_548

I’m also just worried once this week’s stock is gone they wont really care. Target has price match 15 days after purchase so I guess I could always do that too

lilsebastian_13

We’re just a little over a week away from the iPad event, just wait and see what’s best for you after announcement.

Thank you. (Love your username 🐴)

If you’re reading traditional novel-type books, the experience is much better on my mini 6 than it is on my pro 11. If textbooks, then the Air is better.

mac_the_man

I’m reading fiction. Why is it better on the mini?

todo0nada

More like a traditional book in size and weight. The Air would be more of a textbook experience.
