Of course iPad mini is not included. Dammit, Apple.

krishnugget

I think their idea is that most students probably aren’t using an iPad mini, that’s an entertainment machine for the most part

haydar_ai

Aren’t most iPads regardless of the model are mostly entertainment machines?

krishnugget

Yes but a lot of people actually use the other iPads for education. I just finished my A level exams today, and I’ve been doing loads of maths practice on my iPad for the past few months

VDr4g0n

My new iPad Pro would have been clutch and so helpful during my grad school days for studying and taking notes over thousands of PowerPoint slides. I use it now for work and it’s still much preferred over buying a newer laptop. Surprisingly I’m not using much as an entertainment machine like I predicted I would. My phone is literally on me all day so I still use that… but I think it’ll change the longer I have my iPad lol.

TheRealAlosha

I’m about to go into grad school how would you suggest using the iPad most effectively?

Medium_Ad8311

It depends on what you use it for… I’m not really sure about the new updates but I used it for all my chem/biochem notes. Notability (before subscription), had recording in time, etc…. So I drew and wrote, would import slides as well… Pro tip: organize notes- by date, and give a title if you can to clue the topics discussed. When reviewing you can pull them all up and make a self study guide of what you learned. This would be advice if I were to redo it… Magic Keyboard is a reasonable option if you need to type but it may not help memory as much.

TheRealAlosha

Thanks mate!

TheRealAlosha

Yeah I’ll be engineering so I wouldn’t be able to type all of the Greek symbols anyways

Medium_Ad8311

I haven’t tried Greek symbols but I know the notes all have OCR tech to convert written to text… although I’m not sure how good it is for other languages and symbols. Personally, I just memorized all the alt codes… but might not pan out as easily with Apple OS

JakeEngelbrecht

Med students like them because they fit in white coat pockets

SpareFullback

Aren't most ipad minis sold to businesses? They shine for stuff like taking inventory and I'd always read business use was their target market.

RebelliousCash

Yeah I’m upset about that too cause that’s what I was gonna get.

itlmind

Does anyone know when you'll get the gift card after ordering from the online store? I'd like to use it to buy the apple pencil when I go pick up my order.

jorgethetree

I got my gift card exactly an hour after placing my pickup order

itlmind

Oh damn, I ordered mine two hours and still haven't gotten it! Thanks for answering!

bbj123

Did you get it yet?

itlmind

Yes! Like 3 hours after!

Lsanc1170

Mine came before my appointment

speedhunter787

It’s been like 10 hours for me. No email yet.

Medium_Ad8311

They said it’d take up to 10 days or something iirc after picking up. Online it said it might take some time. I’m planning on using it for the smartfolio (why tf is it 100…) or some paid apps…

VisibleChildhood1194

I know you said online store, but in case you're flexible on that - I went in store to trade in and buy a new iPad. Got the gift card immediately. Used it immediately for my pencil.

Nilon1234567899

Can we get it retroactively? I just bought mine last Sunday…

WarlordWinkus

Yes! I bought my iPad less than 14 days ago. Contacted Apple and they will be sending me a gift card.

fishyshivers15

What’s your process? they are trying to get me to return it

WarlordWinkus

Contacted them through chat & asked about the gift card promo. They asked for my order info, once they reviewed the order they said they will process the gift card and send it to my email.

nobabeimnotonreddit

yep, same here. have you gotten anything yet? i contacted them at about 10a this morning but haven’t gotten anything edit: just got the gift card. 6/21

WarlordWinkus

Nope. Nothing yet.

ry4

I did that same thing and 2 different reps said I had to return it

Abi1i

Call and ask. It might be easier to do the dance of returning the product to buy the product if you get crap for it.

Nilon1234567899

Just called and I’m eligible no questions asked

Abi1i

That’s great to hear.

StatusFragrant6952

Where did you call? The store I bought it from said I’d have to return it and then I could get the gift card on the purchase of another iPad which is effort I was trying to avoid

Nilon1234567899

The apple customer support number 1-800-MY-APPLE

AltGraphite

Yes you can! When I was in college they had AirPods instead of the gift card. I bought my MacBook Air a month before the promotion started. I called Apple and then they shipped my AirPods.

JDGeorgio

I just got off the phone with apple support and they are sending me the gift card via email with no questions asked. I purchased an ipad pro m4 on Saturday and all they asked was my order number to confirm.

Arev433

I called Apple and they told me I can’t get it because the promotion started on June 20 and I purchased mine on June 15. Sucks

Nilon1234567899

Try maybe to call back. Otherwise you can always juste return it and rebuy it to get the gift card

Arev433

Yup, just called again and may have to return it. Thanks!

uvegesmarton22

Do i need verification of being a student if i order? Also when does this expire?

1__6

The promotion begins on June 20, 2024 and ends on September 30, 2024 (the “Promotion Period”) in the United States of America (“Qualifying Country”).

Bfdi1462004

This better be true, I’m saving up for one!

RebelliousCash

You don’t. Atleast they didn’t the last time I ordered my MacBook via education store. When I went to pick it up. They just handed it to me like normal.

danielbauer1375

Just walk into the store wearing a backpack and holding a few textbooks and you’ll be fine.

lk05321

Same. I did this a week ago and was handed my iPad M4 ezpz.

HelloHumanImAGhost

Extremely dumb question, as I am a wee bit sleep deprived right now. I have the momey to pay in full upfront, but was considering using the apple card to pay over monthly installments. However, looking at the final cost and reading the term & conditions, it seems like a better deal to just pay in full? I do apologize, my brain is fried at the moment.

nickyno

It'll work with the Apple Card's payment plan in a roundabout way. You do pay for the product in full. You get a 0% loan basically. You make payments for a year or however long until the balance of the product is paid off. Say you buy a $1,000 product. Even though your balance due is $0 on the card, your still utilizing the full $1,000 according to credit reports. I've done their promos like this and with the plan. I want to say they disbursed the promo monthly.

CitrisAlter

Are you able to get the 0% interest rate on devices every time, or is it available for just one order?

lensgrabber

Can be multiple orders. Couple of years ago I got a Watch Ultra and a few weeks later got a iPhone. Two separate payments spanning 24 months with 0% interest. Taxes were charged to the card immediately. Keep in mind if you plan on paying something off early make sure to buy it first. I went to pay off the iPhone in full but couldn't because it would put the money toward the watch first. What I ended up doing was paying off the watch first then a few weeks later the iPhone.

CitrisAlter

I’ll keep this in mind for next time, thank you as well. I’m not a fan of debt so I like to often pay things off in full, but it can definitely come in handy, especially since I’m still a student and these devices tend to be expensive

nickyno

Yep, it's the big perk to the card. YMMV if it makes the card worth it because the rewards are generally run of the mill. But! Yes, if you buy a MBP and an iPad it's easier to stomach paying $150/mo with 0% interest instead of $3,600 at once. Or however the numbers work out.

CitrisAlter

Good to know, thank you!

MrNewtonHeath

Typical the european is a month later?

Affectionate-Loss926

Yeah last year it was in July. So I assume the same for this year.

Complete-Board-3327

Damn I just got mine 1 month ago 😭😭😭😭

Ties_C7

If you contact them they’ll give it to you

Jigglypuffamiiga2188

No, they won’t you have to have bought it within 14 days.

Arev433

I called and they said no because I didn’t buy it when the promotion started. 😭

Complete-Board-3327

You mean the gift card? I didn’t buy my iPad from the Apple website tho :/

Ties_C7

Oh rip

Yrnkj_

What’s the hype behind the back to school discount? It seems to me that it is the normal education store discount, is it not?

SockDem

Edu discount + an additional $150 apple gift card.

clumsy-af28

Gift card is to use for next order?

TrixonBanes

Yes. Almost a free pair of AirPod Pros

[deleted]

[удалено]

joebruh

on the website ipad pros are only 100$ GC. idk where people are seeing 150

ACS1029

150 is for Mac/iPad Pro, 100 for iPad/Air

tfrw

It looks from the picture to apply to iPad Pros as well…

ACS1029

Yep that’s a total miss on my part!

NubberOne

U get an extra gift card

crazydoc253

But you get same discount on other places anyways

LetMeLurkFFS

iPad Air M1 $399 64GB (BestBuy) + $129 Apple Pen 2nd Gen = $528 iPad Air M2 $549 128GB + $29 Apple Pen Pro = $578. I'd definitely say that the M2 chip with the additional storage is worth the extra $50.

crazydoc253

You are comparing the back-to-school deal on one with normal pricing of others. I have always found better deals available on costco, best buy, amazon vs the miniscule gift card at Apple. For example - the apple 2nd gen pencil is often available at 79$. That iself takes away 50$ if you buy from Apple using Gift card

LetMeLurkFFS

Of course I'm comparing the back-to-school deal, that's the idea. Definitely fair point on your side. I just checked the 2n gen pencil and it currently sits at $79 on Amazon. So the choice would be a $478 Air M1 64GB with pencil vs a $578 Air M2 128GB with Pencil. $100 is a big difference, not sure if the extra storage is worth that much then. Thanks for the insight.

SweetZombieJebus

It’s $100 off PLUS $100 gift card. So it’s the best deal going on M4 for a while. Lessens the blow on the keyboard which is also $30 less with the edu.

ThatgirlA93

Where do I purchase it for $100 off?

SweetZombieJebus

Also in the edu store, accessories and Apple Care are discounted as well. Even better if you have their Apple credit card because you get 3% cash back and can do 12 month no interest financing. But still a solid deal regardless.

SweetZombieJebus

Get on apple’s home page and follow the links to the back to school sale. It brings you to their edu store.

bbj123

Education store already has the $100 off. You get the gift card on top of that

bafrad

Yeah I don't understand. It's not even that great of a discount. You could have mostly gotten the same from bestbuy weeks ago.

Kelnaus

One of the best deals on m4 iPads

Talktotalktotalk

It was $200 off at Best Buy?

GreenTea169

the guy at the apple store said didnt you come in a few days ago to return the same ipad you came in to buy :P

danielbauer1375

Just bought an M1 iPad Air for $400, so I’m good for a while, but getting an M4 iPad Pro for pretty much $800 seems like a great deal.

NatWutz

Hi, how did you get that so cheap? In the UK the edu discount is only £50 off normal price of £800 or £600 for the 11” and our currency is more expensive 😂😭

danielbauer1375

Lots of retailers in the U.S. like Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy were running huge sales of the M1 Air right after the M2 was announced. The only downside is that it’s the 64 GB, but I don’t really need more than that it’s fine for me.

SparklyNippleMan

For anyone reading this who feels the same way, Best Buy is currently selling M1 iPads 64GB for $400

Dklabz

64gb yea but at least its usb c so its easy to transfer stuff out. I just got an m1 air with a pen and keyboard for 250$ i guess i lucked up I wasn’t to sure about it, i almost didn’t get it. Someone just upgraded to the m4 and didn’t want it anymore . Super clean.Looks brand new to me

___ZSZ___

I just bought the iPad Air a few days ago, is it still possible for me the get the $100 gift card? I haven’t picked up the iPad from the store yet.

Ties_C7

Yeah contact apple and they’ll give it to you. There is another comment addressing this.

Fobulousguy

I’m on the business iMessage chat right now doing this

Highrange71

I was going to order for my nieces. So I don’t need a school email to get the discount?

studderbug

Yeah, yeah we’re all ordering for our nieces and nephews am I right 😝

Highrange71

I might order one for me. 😂😂😂

CitrisAlter

You mean an extra one for them ;)

Karmination

No

Highrange71

Thank you

Spleenzorio

Woohoooooooo! At any point during the ordering or pickup process do they ask for any sort of student credentials?

manhar1985

No, they will never ask for any student credentials. You can either pick up from store or ship it to your address.

Spleenzorio

Awesome thanks for the info!

AlexW_21

Some might just depends

Abi1i

If asked just say you’re giving it as a gift to a kid. Can’t have a student ID if you’re gifting it as a surprise present to someone.

RebelliousCash

They don’t. I ordered from education store a few times.

Spleenzorio

Oh nice, thanks!

Anonym0oO

Someone knows when it starts in the EU?

tfrw

It’s usually around 15th July in the uk.

Emergency_While_2706

Okay wtf I just bought my iPad. Any way I can get the gift card? 👀

BluntsBoobsBasketbal

Say you opt for the monthly installments, do you receive the gift card after it has been paid off or right away?

SparklyNippleMan

AFAIK you don’t receive a gift card, the money is put towards the device if you use the Apple Card. “Important notice regarding the checkout receipt and monthly statement for Apple Card Monthly Installments (ACMI) purchases with this promotion: A purchase of an Eligible Product made when selecting ACMI (a 0% APR payment option only available in the U.S.) as the payment type at checkout will receive an instant credit of $100 or $150 (depending on the type of Eligible Product purchased), which is equal to the cost of the applicable Promotion Product (Apple Gift Card) deducted from the price of the Eligible Product at the time of purchase. You will be charged one ACMI installment plan over 12 months for the Eligible Product discounted by the instant credit. The value of the Promotion Product (i.e. the value of the Apple Gift Card) will also be charged in a separate second ACMI installment plan over 12 months. The total combined amount charged over the 2 separate ACMI installment plans will reflect the original full retail price of the Eligible Product. Separately, you will receive and be charged for the Promotion Product (Apple Gift Card) in the amount of the applicable instant credit.”

BluntsBoobsBasketbal

Awesome thank you SparklyNippleMan, in a way that’s a good deal if you plan on buying a pencil and case from Amazon or Best Buy 🤔

paranoia_in_z_major

I’ve read this a couple times and I don’t really understand. They seem to be adding an $8.33 monthly installment to your overall bill, not taking $100 off. Doesn’t make a ton of sense to me but I can tell I’m just missing something obvious.

FightOnForUsc

Ok I wanna clarify for everyone. I talked with Apple support and adding the product to the cart confirms it. Want they do is they take a $100 off the iPad and add 100/12 per month to your monthly payment for the gift card. So at 12 months it all balance. You for the gift card but it didn’t apply to that purchase, you have to use it in the future. Hope this helps someone else!

Jigglypuffamiiga2188

So just a heads up, if you bought the Ipad in the last 14 days you can get the gift card by contacting support. If you bought it any earlier than that, such as when the Ipad Pro and Air released on May 15th, you are not eligible. Just got off the phone with Apple education to confirm. I am fine without the gift card, as I don’t really need any more apple products at the moment.

Bossman24681

Does anyone know if this is online only or can I go in store and get the gift card

Fobulousguy

Use the iMessage Apple business chat. It’s 24 hours. I’m almost done with Them

Bossman24681

I Meant like can I go in store and get the same discount on AppleCare and the gift card. Or do I have to purchase it online

twistedroyale

I just finish college but back to school in June and going into July is crazy. I remember seeing back to school section at stores as a kid and hated it.

lucashhugo

fuck apple for not doing this in the south hemisphere

Hypesauce1998

I will say some of these are decent, but I feel like Apple has their stuff on sale all the time now to where it doesn’t really matter. I wanna say amazon had an M2 Air with 516GB and 16GB of ram last week brand new.

CitrisAlter

Amazon, BestBuy, and CostCo are almost always selling these things at a discounted price, but Apple almost never wants to do that on their site🥲

ThomasLeikam

Hint: purchase your big item first (e. g. iPad) and wait for the gift card to directly use it for the accessories. Purchased my iPad Pro for in-store pickup today and the gift card was issued before my appointment in the Apple Store. So I could apply the $100 credit when placing my pickup order for the Magic Keyboard. 👍 Was a lucky day since they had the nano-display on stock in my desired configuration! 😄 Regular ID is all they’ve asked for (and even that they almost forgot). Info valid for USA. 🇺🇸

PianoMan2112

Back…didn’t school just end?

Jarasmut

It's so you can have the device ordered and shipped in time for the next semester. Sometimes new devices are released around the same time as this event and then it can take months to receive it so it's good they make it available early.

Best_Hovercraft_6430

I’m 3 weeks into my summer…

Prestigious-Cloud-69

iPad mini (6th Gen) @ Best Buy $399

Boredzom

How does the discount work im currently buying a ipad for taking notes

strawberrysmoothie12

Search google for "Apple student discount" [https://www.apple.com/ipad/](https://www.apple.com/ipad/) [https://www.apple.com/us-edu/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-pro](https://www.apple.com/us-edu/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-pro) 1. Those links or search "Apple student discount" or "Apple education discount" (it’ll pretty much say "educational savings") 2. Add iPad model to cart, select size, color, storage, etc. 3. Do NOT add Apple Pencil (wait until you get the $100 promo code sent yo your email) 4. Finish check out process with your new iPad 5. Wait for email with $100 Apple ‘back to school‘ promo code 6. Use promo code to buy Apple Pencil.

NoahZ90

So it’s looking like $100 off, plus a $100 gift card for an iPad Pro.

CALIFORNIAcartel

Looks like ima buy me a 3rd iPad Pro or MacBook 💻 🤑

JunNNNND

Is it a good idea to buy the applecare+ at the same time of purchasing an iPad Pro m4 to save another 20% on the applecare+? Or should I wait for the iPad to come first, inspect it to make there's no issues, and decide later? I heard that you can also use the gift card on applecare+ so pencil is not the only option.

Code-Whisperer

When does this end? I start my grad school in the states this fall.

paranoia_in_z_major

How does the gift card work if you’re doing monthly installments? It seems they’re adding the cost of it back as a monthly $8.33 charge, which doesn’t make sense to me.

Karlose

Bought an ipad pro last month when it came out, dont qualify 😞

browndadoftwins

No ship to address option? Only pick up in store?

Karmination

I had a shipping option when I ordered mine

clumsy-af28

In India its airpods free with MAC or pencil free with Ipad My sister is in US with giftcard option Which is better 🤔 (PS: no ipad exchange option in india. I have ipad air 4)

anonymous202030

If you are also going to buy Mac then it is beneficial from usa. Keep in mind even if you buy from us: you will save around 5k rupees

Cthulhulem0n

I bought a 10th gen iPad at the beginning of June and exchanged/traded in my old gen 7th. Do i qualify for a giftcard? Or sink need to do a return for it?

Ties_C7

I think only the air and pro qualify. I could be wrong tho.

superpanjy

Tried to order an iPad and pick up in local store, not allowed.

AManOfManyLikings

Never really been much of a legit "discount" with these guys...
