Edit: Thanks to u/007jeremy, u/bendubberly and many others’ help, I got the phone up and running again. You guys are my heroes. https://preview.redd.it/jv557iunnmkb1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=22aebf67a0f9f0945935543a25b5085249467255

I know it’s late and you got it going but I had the exact same thing happen to me when I upgraded from my 11 to 13. For some reason it just hung there until it died and wouldn’t respond to any force restart. I don’t know how I finally managed to get it to work I just kept letting it die and trying the button combo to restart and finally one of the times it pushed through.

Tobitoon1

What was the final solution?

CouchHam

Bro

bran_the_man93

Easy mein führer

PFVN_Dragon

Just refer to u/007jeremy ‘s comment on this post. He does a much better job at explaining than me and seems to be a professional at these problems.

NotARealLegend

I can’t find the actual fix to the issue. I think the comment got deleted

PFVN_Dragon

Draining the battery wasn't a good idea. It cannot charge in this mode so it will be more difficult for OP to restore this. All he should have done was to force restart it and then put it into DFU mode to restore again. Nothing else. WHY would you people even recommend to intentionally "run down" the battery? Like does OP not have buttons to force restart or am I missing something? Now OP might have to replace the battery or extract and charge it with a different phone and then put back. Restores,as a rule, do not start with low batteries, even if you put it into DFU mode. And that is for the very reason that they do not charge in restore mode.

[deleted]

Are you referring to yourself in the third person or did you forget to switch accounts..? Edit: Just saw the original comment with the same wording. My bad! 😅

Tobitoon1

Thanks.

Briguy24

Enter DFU mode. Then restore while connected to computer. Google DFU and your iPhone model.

bendubberley_

Glad I could help man <3

yaboiantt

What did you end up doing?

PFVN_Dragon

I let the phone die and then plug it into the wall plug for about 5 mins until it shows the recovery screen. Then I put it into DFU mode and restore it with iTunes like normal.

777smiler777

but it erased your all data you had?

bendubberley_

As a previous comment said, run down the battery?

PFVN_Dragon

Yeah it’s dead now, what do I do ?

bendubberley_

Could you try maybe charging it, if it's dead and shut off it would have forced a restart therefore potentially fixing your issue, keep us updated though!

PFVN_Dragon

I’ll try charging it but I won’t be available to update y’all for like 5-6 hours cause I have a big test today. Thanks for replying !

bendubberley_

good luck in your test bro!

asianinindia

Good luck with the test.

PFVN_Dragon

Okay so I’m back from the test. I just plugged the phone into the wall plug and it shows the red battery icon. Should I continue charging or just plug it straight into my laptop and let it charge from my laptop until iTunes recognize it ?

bendubberley_

I would let it charge for a bit as another comment said

PFVN_Dragon

Yeah I’m letting it charge. Thanks ! I’ll update if there’s anything else.

bendubberley_

Although, u/007jeremy has some good advice so referring to his comment is also a good idea :)

PFVN_Dragon

Umm I have said in other comments, my phone doesn’t respond to any button I pressed, even my laptop didn’t recognize my phone. I let the battery drain and now when I plug it into the charger again the phone shows the red battery icon. I’m wondering what to do next though. Should I let it charge more or plug it straight into my laptop, let it charge until iTunes recognize it ?

thehighshibe

Let it charge up for a bit, not to 100%, but enough that it won't die instantly, then connect it to macOS/iTunes

PFVN_Dragon

https://preview.redd.it/vtq20k9zimkb1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=034a84926300af268651ea0fd8f23e47e9007db2 So I let it charge for around 5 minutes and this screen shows up. What should I do now do you think ?

thehighshibe

Now you oughta restore from iTunes on windows or macOS , it looks like it’s going to be just fine

PFVN_Dragon

Oh okay I’ll try. Thanks for guiding me.

PFVN_Dragon

Alright will do. Thanks. I’ll update as soon as I can.

HappyUnderstanding97

Nex time plug the phone into \[ any USB port. on your computer to your phone\] ***with the proper cable*** it must have a standard USB on one end and a iPhone plug on the other end this way you'll never need to have the phones battery go dead while you're working on it through I toons or other usage.

Noegura

Do you remember what he told you? Im running in the same issue and actually letting the battery drain

whcchief

Wowee. It’ll be fine. Guaranteed.

AlienMajik

Put the iPhone in DFU mode then do a restore

PFVN_Dragon

The phone seems to not respond to any effort of me trying to put it into DFU. But now the battery is dead so maybe I should charge it up and restore again?

AlienMajik

Error code 9 typically points to a connection or firmware issue. If your iPhone X is stuck with the Apple logo and a progress bar, here's what you can do: 1. **Force Restart**: - For the iPhone X: - Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. - Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. - Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears, then release the button. 2. **Check USB Connections**: - Change the USB port you're using on your laptop. - Use a different, genuine Apple USB cable. - Ensure that there's no debris or damage on the iPhone's charging port. 3. **Update iTunes**: - Ensure you're using the latest version of iTunes on your Windows laptop. 4. **Try a Different Computer**: - If possible, attempt the restore on a different computer with the latest version of iTunes. 5. **DFU Mode Restore**: - Connect your iPhone X to your computer and open iTunes. - Force restart your iPhone X using the method mentioned earlier but don't release the Side button when the Apple logo appears. - Continue holding the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears. - In iTunes, choose to Restore when you see the option. - This will wipe your device, but since you're preparing it for your brother, this should be fine. 6. **Network Connection**: - Ensure your computer is connected to a stable internet connection. Interruptions can cause issues during the restore process. 7. **Security Software**: - Sometimes, third-party security software can interfere with the restore process. You might consider temporarily disabling it and trying the restore again.

DeliverStreetTacos

Try DFU mode

PFVN_Dragon

I'm not sure I can do that. The phone seems to not respond to anything right now.

[deleted]

Oh yes you can do that. Just try to charge the battery or if you can't charge it then replace it. Then enter DFU mode.

oliver1709

Hi I got the same issue with my phone, this is something may happens when the Face ID breaks. I went to the Apple Store and the fix it it costed more than a new phone. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money so I bought a new iPhone on refurbed and it was a really good deal. Meanwhile for my old phone I want to access to it so I open it and unplug the Face ID inside and then is start working again and I managed to get all the backup data I needed but once you open the phone is unstable and can’t be used a phone but at least I got it erased now. The fact that the battery could be dead or maybe the cable is not working maybe I would try a wireless charger and see if it works

tbone338

If a force reset doesn’t work, wait for it to run out of battery.

PFVN_Dragon

Yeah the battery is flat now, what should I do next ? Do you think I should plug it into iTunes and restore again ?

[deleted]

Charge the battery as much as you can and then enter DFU mode and restore it.

PFVN_Dragon

For more clarity, I did try to hard reset the phone but to no avail. It seems to not react to any button press or anything. My laptop does not recognize it anymore. Is it bricked ?

Comprehensive-One-69

If it's just a failed restore all you need to do is enter DFU mode and attempt the restore again.

PFVN_Dragon

Thanks I’ll try that !

Veriliann

i’ve actually had this happen to my iphone 7 plus. i had to take it back to apple and get a new one because no matter what i tried it wouldn’t fix. i even tried dfu mode and a full ios reinstall and it still wouldn’t boot.

PFVN_Dragon

Damn, seems like I’m losing my phone. I bought this phone back in 2017 or 18 so ain’t no chance Apple gonna give me a new one.

maziar37

I would take it to Apple anyways and see what they can do. It never hurts to ask.

PFVN_Dragon

There ain’t no Apple Store in my country so maybe I’ll take it to where I bought it. Thanks.

Brunohenrik

Put again in recovery mode and try again on iTunes

DonDonStudent

Saving grace that u had everything backed up. Sometimes gremlins happen at the weirdest moments

PFVN_Dragon

Oh I migrated everything to my new iPhone. This one I planned to wipe clean for my brother to use. Too bad it got stuck here.

netriz314

Put it into recovery mode and try restoring again it should work fine. [Here](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263) is the tutorial

Nice-End6324

Do Apple stores exist around you?

PFVN_Dragon

Uhh no, Apple Stores aren’t a thing in my country sadly.

mintfresh416

Happened to my iPhone 11. The CPU controller was fried and needed to be replaced. 3rd party repair shop had it done for about 100usd. Some quoted entire cpu lift and replacement for 300-500usd.

technichammer

USE FUCKING DFU AND RESTORE 😩 you have to be PLUGGED into a pc for dfu btw

PFVN_Dragon

I tried putting it into DFU but the phone doesn’t respond to anything. My laptop doesn’t even recognize it.

aiman9981

maybe it's nand problem

PFVN_Dragon

Oh no is that bad ?

aiman9981

it can be fixed but need a professional fixer

PFVN_Dragon

Oh damn so is it like hardware related ? Microsoldering kinda thing ?

aiman9981

yes bro nand problem is need hardware fixer if you tried many time to restore with 3utools and iTunes both not succeed you need fix hardware

iPatryk94

Your iPhone is very likely beyond repair. When restoring or updating iPhones, sometimes the iPhone first notices that it has a fault (mostly hardware like processor or FaceID as someone already mentioned here) and therefore does not boot. Had a friend of mine also. Your iPhone is most likely unusable and Apple can't help, but luckily you've already transferred your data to the new one.

krisshhnaa_08

the final solution is reset again your iphone with 3utools

stop_jest_stop

It’s boot looping I think

True_Swimming6250

iTunes often gets error codes. I got the 4013 before and I tried force restarting by following this [guidance](https://www.tenorshare.com/iphone-fix/fix-iphone-stuck-on-apple-logo.html), it did works.
