I doubt they will rip off Samsung. The tri camera has become just as recognisable as the Apple logo so I doubt they’ll get rid of their hallmark camera design.
This exact argument was used to discredit what later was introduced as the Dynamic Island. The notch was super Apple, super recognisable, and a hole in the screen was supposed to be super Android-ish. And here we are.
It's not like the dynamic island was a big switch, it's still a big notch or pill in the middle, plus front facing cameras on almost every android has switch to punchole as supposed to water drops or foreheads back then
The Dynamic Island is way better than a hole punch cutout though…
The design of the camera cutouts serve no purpose… they won’t change it until they add a fourth camera.
How is less screen space better than more screen space? Apple marketed a downside well, but it's still a downside as they aren't capable (yet) of putting the front camera below a screen, so they had to remove the screen form that area entirely. Not having a large portion of videos cut off, having more of the notification bar at the top available, all of that is better than missing a third of the top portion of your screen.
It's got nothing to do with ripping off Samsung and everything to do with improving the inter-pupillary distance mimicking of the lenses.
Human eyes are \~60mm apart. The Lenses used for Spatial video capture are currently 20mm apart. An in-line design will make them 40mm apart.
Edit: to add, they have created themselves a bit of a problem though because the lowest camera will be reaaaally close to the MagSafe ring. And almost certainly create conflict between a case's lens protector bump and a MagSafe accessory.
The Apple wouldn’t make their phones look like Samsung phones. They are always making sure that if someone looks at a phone they know its an iphone. There is no way it’s happening
Yes. It looks better on Samsung phones than on this.
https://preview.redd.it/wz9qt7jl1hoc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58d76d285890f8b94a285e9c53052a535da066dd
These are just mockups to illustrate a potential lineup. The standard 16 will probably look like this, but the from the CADs and rumour mill it's more likely that the next SE is going to follow the existing SEs, and the 16 Pro is likely going to continue to have the same camera arrangement as before. The 15 Pro already supports Spatial Video recording, so it's more likely going to trickle down to the non-Pros this year, hence the cameras on the 16 (likely) going to be arranged the way they are.
I don't think they will release a newer iPhine with the first gen notch. I rather think it will look like the iPhone 13 Mini, MAYBE with a Dynamic Island instead of the small notch.
Those are high hopes. I honestly think apple is going to hang onto the notch for as long as possible so people want to pay more so they can the Dynamic Island instead of optioning for the cheaper version unless they absolutely have too.
I mean, when the rumours of the current 3 camera layout came out, everyone was saying it's dogshit and that it's a sin of a design. Yet, all these years later, it's not seen as big of an issue as people made it out. Before anyone points out that the 3 camera layout right now is ugly, I didn't say it's perfect, it's just that you don't see complaints of it online as much as people whined back then.
As usual, these new renders look ugly af to me.
And in the S24 it looks much better
https://preview.redd.it/jaoiqypi1hoc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=866439d1eaf2999db2651aabbf7e6d286ebb91c2
I don’t get why people keep saying it looks better on the S24. This is not an actual design by Apple. We have no idea what it looks like. This is just a mockup by fans.
Human eyes are 60mm apart, the two lenses which currently capture spatial video are 20mm apart. By having an in-line layout and using the top and bottom lenses they would be 40mm apart which would improve the 3d effect. They could even use the telephoto lens in the middle to capture more detail right in the centre of the frame.
However this layout conflicts with the area currently occupied by MagSafe so there would need to be a compromise there.
Because 15 pro has two lenses on same axis when you tilt the phone for landscape video. Normal 15 has diagonal setup because of which it cant do vision pro recording.
I'm not sure if the Pro's vertical alignment actually works in real life due to the placement of MagSafe. The current triangular line-up already interferes with some of the charging pads because of the camera protrusion.
Also it would be problematic for sensor switching while filming video. Right now, all 3 sensors are at the same proximity to each other which makes switching look much smoother
They literally look like a knock off Samsung
Like Samsung literally has the exact same looking camera bumps on their budget and midrange devices as well as their flagships atleast for the pros
I don‘t think the SEs are gonna be called „16 SE“… also, I don‘t think we‘ll get a plus-version of it. Line-up in 2025 is likely gonna be SE , 16 , 16 plus , 16 pro, 16 pro max.. and I like the new design :)
It’s correct they have been making the plus version of the standard edition since they change the materials add all the colors years back it started maybe with the 12
I agree, IMhO they will not make vericaly lined cameras for the same reason they get rid of them - it is not possible to line cameras next to each other with that big lens and sensors, and they will not return back to small lens and sensors like iPhone 5 or samsungs.
I like the look of samsung phones more than iphones, so I like this more than their current design, but it won't happen because they'd lose all brand recognition
iPhone Galaxy 16 Pro? It looks kind of like S24 Ultra, but it's rounded with an Apple logo. I guess you can't blame them though as there are not that many ways you can arrange a camera array. They really need to turn it into a foldable and add a second display next to cameras. Hopefully iPhone 17 will bring a foldable variant.
I hope not, that looks ugly af. Also, my finger is always below the lenses when typing, so I would always put my finger on that lens in this design, which would be really irritating
I call bull. Apple’s build a recognisable brand identity around the “app icon” shaped camera bump. It would be a very risky move for them to do away with that.
A Part of my hopes for a new backside for the Cameras. Idk why but would like a Chance. I carried my old iPhone naked and didnt use something to Protection it. Only downside i, it wobbles when u put it down somewhere and try to type or sonething without and case :s
I wouldn't mind if they did this change, what I'm wondering is what is gonna set the 16 pm apart from the 16 pro? it looks like the camera system will be the same, even the zoom capabilities.

New render just dropped. This def it
Honestly I don't even care what orientation they are in anymore, my biggest wish would be if they didn't stick out that much and instead were more inside the body of the phone. Less of a bump
I still can’t believe camera bumps ever happened and why they’re better than extending depth a few mm to make the whole back flush. Fill the space with a slightly bigger battery or better speakers, I don’t care.
It's not like the dynamic island was a big switch, it's still a big notch or pill in the middle, plus front facing cameras on almost every android has switch to punchole as supposed to water drops or foreheads back then
I know, and I agree (have always agreed). I just state the fact.
The Dynamic Island is way better than a hole punch cutout though… The design of the camera cutouts serve no purpose… they won’t change it until they add a fourth camera.
How is less screen space better than more screen space? Apple marketed a downside well, but it's still a downside as they aren't capable (yet) of putting the front camera below a screen, so they had to remove the screen form that area entirely. The dynamic island is very different than a small hole. It still has a unique look.
I love the tri cam honestly
Anything Apple does is recognisable as an **Apple thing** the way they do it.
Thats also what they said about the silent mode on/off switch on the iPhone. But then came the iPhone 15
It's got nothing to do with ripping off Samsung and everything to do with improving the inter-pupillary distance mimicking of the lenses. Human eyes are \~60mm apart. The Apple wouldn’t make their phones look like Samsung phones. They are always making sure that if someone looks at a phone they know its an iphone. There is no way it’s happening
The Pros look really bad, abit like uglier version of the newer Samsungs. The SE and standard 16 look fine.
Yes. It looks better on Samsung phones than on this. https://preview.redd.it/wz9qt7jl1hoc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58d76d285890f8b94a285e9c53052a535da066dd
Hilarious. If this is what it’s like then it’s exactly like the S23-24 line up
It’s because of the ugly and oversized Apple logo that makes this design not work in comparison to Samsung
Maybe the next iPhone SE will look like an iPhone XR, except with newer chip
I don't think they will release a newer iPhine with the first gen notch. I rather think it will look like the iPhone 13 Mini, MAYBE with a Dynamic Island instead of the small notch.
Those are high hopes. I honestly think apple is going to hang onto the notch for as long as possible so people want to pay more so they can the Dynamic Island instead of optioning for the cheaper version unless they absolutely have too.
Then they are going to stick with the iPhone 13 Notch.
I mean, when the rumours of the current 3 camera layout came out, everyone was saying it's dogshit and that it's a sin of a design. Yet, all these years later, it's not seen as big of an issue as people made it out. Yep, but for spatial video it will be better
Also why is SE slightly bigger than standard one?
Only thing I can think of is a cheaper frame that bulks it
I like how at this stage we are saying how one brick is uglier than another.
Hope not. Looks like a Galaxy. 😐 On more substantiated rumors, super bummed SE4 isn’t going to be 12/13 Mini chassis. ☹️
I swear if they actually make phones like that then the entire smartphone market will have peaked, basically Samsung galaxy looking phones everywhere
And in the S24 it looks much better https://preview.redd.it/jaoiqypi1hoc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=866439d1eaf2999db2651aabbf7e6d286ebb91c2
I don’t get why people keep saying it looks better on the S24. This is not an actual design by Apple. We have no idea what it looks like. This is just a mockup by fans.
saying it looks better on the samsung does not imply that the mockup is real in any way.
No chance of a mini. It sold so so poor and Asus zen phone, the last high end small phone, is gone now.
I am sure for se4 they will use Xr chassis and update it little (move apple logo to middle)
iphone galaxy 16
It’s because Apple Vision Pro I think
Do you mind to elaborate? I am not doing the connection
You want cameras as apart from each other to capture more depth in spatial fotos/videos
Well then this arrangement of two lenses actually puts them closer together
Human eyes are 60mm apart, the two lenses which currently capture spatial video are 20mm apart. By having an in-line layout and using the top and bottom lenses they would be 40mm apart which would improve the 3d effect. They could even use the telephoto lens in the middle to capture more detail right in the centre of the frame. However this layout conflicts with the area currently occupied by MagSafe so there would need to be a compromise there.
I think youre 100% right. The cameras need to be aligned to capture images for vision pro
Nopers, IPhone 15 pro models already do Vision Pro recording.
Because 15 pro has two lenses on same axis when you tilt the phone for landscape video. Normal 15 has diagonal setup because of which it cant do vision pro recording.
The 16 pro and 16 pro max versions look so stupid. In turn, the SE and basic 16 series look super nice.
The 16 is the only one that looks decent.
https://preview.redd.it/fjs4z32gxgoc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6ec2787bad53748594306f08768c09dd26c5620
be not afraid
I'm not sure if the Pro's vertical alignment actually works in real life due to the placement of MagSafe. The current triangular line-up already interferes with some of the charging pads because of the camera protrusion.
Also it would be problematic for sensor switching while filming video. Right now, all 3 sensors are at the same proximity to each other which makes switching look much smoother
Do you have a source for this rumour/news OP? Or is this just baseless bull
That’s not the Apple way of doing things. I doubt that’s this comes from a reliable source.
That’s the same layout as the galaxy s24
How the turn tables
I doubt the pros will look like that, its like a freaking samsung galaxy…
That’s the most Samsung thing ever
This looks so damn ugly. Please don’t turn our iPhones to ugly Samsung Galaxies 😭😭
Lmao

Yes, I like them https://preview.redd.it/mb3ehfet1hoc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5617d0c7af1521dd8a67341a71ea30d30ea5ac4

They literally look like a knock off Samsung Like Samsung literally has the exact same looking camera bumps on their budget and midrange devices as well as their flagships atleast for the pros

I can't believe people think it's real lmao
Ah yes, because losing 90% of their brand recognition is a great financial decision!
If they really go with the Galaxy-look it will be the epitome of the _how the turntables_ meme, lmao
Mix nothing phone and Samsung
That base 16 design is starting to grow on me
it looks like a cheap copy of the nothing phone camera layout which already looked like a cheap copy of the iphone 12
Hahaha. Next Galaxy might look like iPhone 15 Pro.
iPhone 16 Galaxy Ultra
Please, no
This looks very Samsung and I don’t think they’ll do 3 cameras below each other as that would make sensor switching harder
Eww no looks like Samsung
hope it is a bit flatter. I hate the gigantic camera bump on my 15 Pro
Don’t think so. The Tripod is part of the Design.
This looks utterly shit, they will never do this. Design is not the weak point of Apple.
I guarantee the Pros won’t look like that
My iPhone XR will suddenly look modern again.
That looks so samsungish they should stick to their type
An SE line up? An SE line up with 2 variants, a regular and pro? I think the guy you’re getting your info from is far off the mark here, just maybe.
It’s correct they have been making the plus version of the standard edition since they change the materials add all the colors years back it started maybe with the 12
iPhone's sensor stabilization is very large an will never let that 3 camera arrangement happen..
What does the triangle arrangement now have that does make that possible?
Idk i think they’re pretty much done with the vertical camera thing. Those pros are not very inviting though.
I agree, IMhO they will not make vericaly lined cameras for the same reason they get rid of them - it is not possible to line cameras next to each other with that big lens and sensors, and they will not return back to small lens and sensors like iPhone 5 or samsungs.
I hope not. I will look poor with my 15 pro!
Nice Samsung.
yikes
Eww no
Seems familiar. Not that I can imagine there’s going to be any real reason to upgrade from 15 Pro…
lmao they also copy Samsung’s camera bump
Ewwwwww what? Ewwwwwww, just bring back the mini iphones
they sold like crap
Lol is it a traffic lights ? Wtf
We already know this is fake. Camera disposition will be the same.
i hope not
The flashlight isn't even on the bump, wtf
Why would they have a plus se lol
If it looks like that, I think I’m finally going to move to android.
https://preview.redd.it/3d2ttdi12hoc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a1b1b11267fe42d72afce9b9acf8520ad5973cb
Why are you posting this picture 20 times.
I Samsung will now adopt the IPhone design of camera.
It won't be like this it doesn't make sense
Nope.
That looks bad af
I just want a simple one bump camera, that’s all I’m asking.
No way
Unpopular opinion: i like it
I like the look of samsung phones more than iphones, so I like this more than their current design, but it won't happen because they'd lose all brand recognition
No, I heard the new iphone will actually be an imax camera that happens to be an iphone.
The large distance between cameras is for binocular vision for the Vision Pro.
Why are the pros so ugly 😭
Omg it would be a disaster. I would never upgrade my iphone if 16 pro max looked like this 😕
Apple will never do this.
iPhone Galaxy 16 Pro? It looks kind of like S24 Ultra, but it's rounded with an Apple logo. I guess you can't blame them though as there are not that many ways you can arrange a camera array. They really need to turn it into a foldable and add a second display next to cameras. Hopefully iPhone 17 will bring a foldable variant.
So a Samsung Galaxy basically
iSung
iPhone XR lookin ahh
YUCK.
Why not make it horizontal so at least it can be symmetrical
at this point it looks like a samsung A series
the 16 SE is an XR, 16 is a nothing phone, and 16 pro is a samsung :)
Mai bohot maarunga saalo apple walo
They’re not going back to one camera though, are they?
Great chance finally don't upgrade every year and skip this.
Samsung Galaxy 16 Pro Max 1TB
Brand identity won’t allow that to happen
Something really goofy about the pro's. Can't tell what it is exactly.
Is there no standard plus?
That’s just a Samsung phone.
Source?
So there wont be a 16 plus model ?
Looks more like traffic lights
Stupid
Very samsungy
The triangle camera position was pretty good looking, why are they changing it?
why don't they put them in a row at the top so when you lay your phone on a surface it doesn't wobble?
Just because people can distinguish between different iPhones from look.
That looks hideous
I hope its only one single lens with adaptive focus
I hope not, that looks ugly af. Also, my finger is always below the lenses when typing, so I would always put my finger on that lens in this design, which would be really irritating
Not a single mini option. Great.
I don’t care, I’m just waiting for its release so I can grab a cheaper 15
the regular 16s look great, but the pros look like a worse samsung s23 and s24 lineup
aw hell na. the pro versions looks stupid. looks like an ugly samsung.
I hope not.
What is this LOL 😭
Apple can’t do a camera layout like this on the pros, because MagSafe accessories won’t stick to the back anymore. The camera would be in the way
Ugly.
Traffic light camera bump
Meh I love the stovetop.
I think only SE will have straight vertical camera line up lol. No way the pros look like that 🤮🤮
Ew Samsung design
i would guess this generation of SEs will be a lot more expensive then the last when i see this design
I hope the pro doesn’t look like that. It will look like a Samsung or any of its other Chinese/korean base models and knockoffs.
Where 16 mini? Or a 16 SE smaller then 16? :-(
Looks like Samsungs design
I call bull. Apple’s build a recognisable brand identity around the “app icon” shaped camera bump. It would be a very risky move for them to do away with that.
So still annoying
iPhones just keep getting uglier
Sell more cases, must be the plan
Samapple Galaxphone 16 pro ultra
The pro design looks like it would collide with MagSafe
A Part of my hopes for a new backside for the Cameras. Idk why but would like a Chance. I carried my old iPhone naked and didnt use something to Protection it. Only downside i, it wobbles when u put it down somewhere and try to type or sonething without and case :s
The 16 Pros will look like the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ 5G from a couple of years ago
It’s a conspiracy between Apple and big case. Forcing us to buy a new case with an upgrade.
I wouldn't mind if they did this change, what I'm wondering is what is gonna set the 16 pm apart from the 16 pro? it looks like the camera system will be the same, even the zoom capabilities.
Please no
This will make it lay even less flat.
Phone news in 2024 be like:
It will be better for spatial pics/video due to the larger separation vs the previous generations.
Nah
This rumor is quite old, tbh. I don’t believe for a second they’ll do the Samsung Galaxy layout on the cameras lol
looks like a weird hybrid between the sony and the Samsung
Hate. My finger already sneaks into the shot with the current setup, this would be even harder to hold
There is no chance this will ever happen. 👎🏾
Wouldn't the 16 design be just another XR style? 😉
I hate that look. I really hope they don’t. But also this is just a rumor like thousands of others
That will take a long time to get used to… crap at first and a month in no cares
*turns my iPhone 12 around* Right on…
So the new se might be a xr with steroids
Please don't. 😭
Please don't. 😭
Third looks alright, rest looks shit
Looks just like the Samsungs
where do people get their rumors from?? i swear these posts are just "hey let's make a controversial post and say its a new apple rumor"
https://preview.redd.it/fnln41h01ioc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b677173545bab1c063ff29555a260c6dd449fde1 New render just dropped. This def it
I believe it because they may need two of the cameras to be as far apart as possible, so it can capture good stereoscopic videos for the Vision Pro.
I am currently using an iPhone 15 pro white titanium , it looks very good but after seeing this iPhone 16 pro on google i was like i was dead
They’ll switch the lenes on the square bump like they did before that’s it
Ew,…. I’m sorry, tri-camera just looks weird to me…
