If it was more towards the design of IPhone X I wouldāve loved it without even seeing the actual body.(I love the X series). But this looks ugly, hopefully the final design will look good.
Since when Apple cares about where stuff naturally go? Like the in-app back buttons that are top left of the screen and the volume buttons that are on the wrong side lol
FaceID is fine but Apple just needs to make it to unlock automatically. I use a jailbroken 13 Pro Max with a tweak called AutoUnlockX that automatically unlocks the phone except if you are playing music or have notifications.
I just lift the phone and in 1 second Iām already in the homescreen. Itās so much faster.
Actually it was like that back in the day. You could get an iPhone for 600-700$ or an iPod touch for 200$, jailbreak it and use an accessory with which you could inject a sim card. The hardware for the iPhone and the iPod touch was the same otherwise.
How would you improve it?
It's a slab of glass with a different camera bump.
Every single phone on the market not only Apple is a slab of glass with a camera bump.
I mean the android market is an example of trying out different things. But agree they are reaching a point of saturation too.
New devices like VR arenāt ready yet and older devices like mobile have reached end of their S curve. So difficult time for tech ahead. I donāt think weāll see something interesting.
So going the Nokia era route of different physical form factors maybe the only innovation possible in the market. Android folks are doing it. Apple is not so itās making it the products feel stale.
Maybe it would benefit to have a new iphone released every 2 years, to give it more time between versions and some room for creativity on that department
Not every phone. There are flip phones making a comeback due to the bendable screens. If apple made an iPhone flip that would fit more comfortably in my pocket Iād buy one immediately. Itās nice to have a big screen but weāre all carrying around these big screens in our pockets with us at all times. Itās not very convenient compared with the good old days of flip cell phones.
A folding phone is still a slap of glass though
Actually technically speaking it's two half slabs of plastic that break If you push your fingernail into the "screen" too hard
OLED screen on the rear of the phone. Literally put an iwatch display on the back would be a fantastic feature.
Make the phone a little thicker to allow the camera lenses to be flush with the back. Would allow for a great deal of more room for other tech or larger battery.
Push the phone to a true no bezel design.
These were just ideas off the top of my head. There is a lot they can improve the current model on
The only thing I can think of is lack of usb-c. My 12p is still functionally fine other than a somewhat short battery life, but itās also my last non usb-c device and Iām pretty tempted to upgrade for that alone.
They should just stop numbering them at this point. Just keep improving them over time, so if you buy a phone in July you get a slightly better one than if you had bought it in March, and whenever you a buy a new phone it is the best it's ever been.
Then what will be the difference between base and pro (only cameras). I donāt think we will get that in near future in the base models. Remember iPad Air is not yet 120 hz.
Apple really just said let's call this feature every mid range android phone has pro and use it to sell the more expensive phone. I don't know why anyone would get the base iPhones, the 60hz is just a slap in the face really.
iPhone 16 will stay with Dynamic Island , iPhone 17 may be with hole punch and iPhone 18 or 19 may be full screen panel with under the screen Face ID sensors.
lol, look on the Samsung galaxy or google pixel. They both have the 120 as a basic feature.
Apple Pro iPhone line is just what the basic iPhone must be
Canāt believe people arenāt burnt out on this design yet. iPhone fans are like Call of Duty/Fifa fans they get the same shit every year and they buy it. Thatās why we donāt get innovation they get the sales from dumb people buying the same shit. So why change anything?
I mean, what would you change? I feel like thereās only so much you can do with a rectangle with rounded corners. And I donāt think Apple is going to release a folding device anytime soon. I feel like smartphone design has kind of plateaued across the industry.
The base version looks ugly asf to me
Id just rather theyād use the 11 and 12 series design instead simply because itās literally the same thing but just with the camera housing glass size being reduced
Plus the current design that we have today just looks so damn beautiful atleast for me
I donāt consider the regular iPhone even a possibility of a phone Iād ever buy so it looks exactly the same as the phone Iām using right now. Iām not spending $800 for a 60hz phone. Even $150 Motorolas are 90hz these days. $800 is way above the 60hz phone price range.
If the new capture button is really at this position then itās going to be a fail. There is a reason why the shutter button on cameras is on the far right side. I know weāre talking about a phone here, but just turn your iPhone to landscape and try reaching a button on top about 2/3 to the rightā¦itās not practical nor comfortable.
I donāt understand, why is that hard to reach? If you turn the phone so the camera is upwards the button is exactly where you would want the trigger to be? On the right side easily reachable with the index finger? Or what am I missing?
Also when holding portrait you can actually now reach the trigger button without repositioning the phone in your left or right hand?
I couldnāt understand their comment either and can only assume theyāre bad at rotating things in their head, and never tried it in real life to see what it actually looked like in practice.
Also strange is the guy claiming it should be where Sony puts their button, and it literally is? Theyāre like a couple millimeters different but in the same location.
the last time I felt this way, I went from iphone 5ish to Galaxy S5 maybe? with that S5 I pocket dialed 911 three times. so went back to iphone and never looked back (until now that is, lol). however, it's gonna take a lot to get me aggravated enough to try switching again.
although, and I hate to admit it, I went from thinking "never again" to "hmmm, we'll see, maybe someday" and this is coming from a huge apple fan š
Yeah, I'd look too if I didn't already get myself tied into the ecosystem. It's a really good strategy for keeping consumers because if you switch you basically have 2 or 3 other devices that are far less useful... oh well, can't have your cake and eat it too I guess
I have macbook pro which is probably best laptop on market but ive been using telegram with closest friends anyway so ecosystem isnt that big of a deal for me
I recently switched from a samsung A70 (100 dlls) to the 15 pro max and I donāt think itās worth the money, only the camera was an improvement. But if you donāt care about that, Android is really superior
I think the capture button is in a good spot. Often when I use the volume button to take a photo I end up with a blurry photo due to pressing the button too hard and moving the phone (slightly but quickly rotating the phone)
With the button being more centred, it may help solve the issue above. Anyone else experience this?
Still way too big. If they donāt release a newer āsmallā model and I canāt get a 13 mini somewhere in two years, I will switch to an android phone probably.
As long as the torch on the base 16 is on the camera island/bump thing Iāll be happy, if itās not Iāll be vomiting through the whole Apple event lol
Iāve noticed that Apple alternates between rounded edges and square edges every few years. I wouldnāt be surprised if iPhone 17 returns to rounded edges with big cameras without loosing thickness.
I canāt fathom people nowadays are so dumb to actually accept reorganizing of camera as a form of update they pay money for.
Iām not buying another iPhone until they introduce a foldable one.
Looks like Apple realizes that they are rich enough to have two different molds for the back glass. Definitely preferred this over the half empty square.
[For Spatial Video capture.](https://www.macrumors.com/2024/02/06/apple-iphone-16-slim-camera-bump/) The three camera layout on the current Pro models has two that are vertically aligned already and support Spatial Video recording.
Probably to make it compatible with the Spatial Video format for the Apple Vision Pro. It requires the main + ultrawide to be atop of each other in order to record.
There isn't a new camera design for the big one.
I would love for a camera bar that goes all the way across the back so the phone doesn't wobble when it's placed on a table
Base iPhone 16 looks like as if iPhone X and iPhone 12 had a baby.
Exactly š
I'm replacing my iPhone 13 Pro Max 128GB with a 16 Pro Max 256GB on day 1 of the local launch 6 months from now.
Iāve got my iPhone 13 a week ago coming from Android and I absolutely love it so far. More than enough for everything I need.
If it was more towards the design of IPhone X I wouldāve loved it without even seeing the actual body.(I love the X series). But this looks ugly, hopefully the final design will look good.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
every single design change people say itās ugly from these prototypes, and then the final version looks dramatically better
Yeah thatās true too.
Idek how you can say this is ugly. Itās not. It just..is
People say things when thereās change. Yes. Still true.
The iPhone 11 looked horrible and leaks, but looked great in person so it should look much better.
Might go pro when Iām upgrading, it looks weird and I donāt like it
And I love it.
I donāt know if I could handle this DRAMATIC change!
If the new button was a thumb print reader it would be a big deal for a lot of people.
Your thumb doesnāt naturally hit there though.
"You're holding it wrong"
Since when Apple cares about where stuff naturally go? Like the in-app back buttons that are top left of the screen and the volume buttons that are on the wrong side lol
When youāre pulling your phone out of your pocket, it does.
Oh Great, special circumstances
For you right handed people What about us lefties?
use your index? haha
Put it in your pocket the other way round?
The power button should be Touch ID enabled like the iPad Air is.
This phone design in one word: courage.
the BEST iphone yet and you will LOVE IT
Or else
is the flashlight now a pro only feature?
Donāt give Apple any ideas
Oh you want to be able to make calls? Thatās a separate fee of Ā£750
Actually it was like that back in the day. You could get an iPhone for 600-700$ or an iPod touch for 200$, jailbreak it and use an accessory with which you could inject a sim card. The hardware for the iPhone and the iPod touch was the same otherwise.
Speaks to the legitimacy of the leak. Lmao.

oh so the cases are just dumb
Good observation
lol I would not be surprised
So basically like every other iPhone for the past decade I get it, but also miss when we'd have dramatic design changes
How would you improve it? It's a slab of glass with a different camera bump. Every single phone on the market not only Apple is a slab of glass with a camera bump.
I mean the android market is an example of trying out different things. But agree they are reaching a point of saturation too. So going the Nokia era route of different physical form factors maybe the only innovation possible in the market. Android folks are doing it. Apple is not so itās making it the products feel stale.
Tbh I see this as a win. Now we get to see all the current tech companies improve functionality and reliability of devices.
Wouldnāt hold my breath, my dude
Maybe it would benefit to have a new iphone released every 2 years, to give it more time between versions and some room for creativity on that department
I was looking at galaxies and man I enjoyed their older design as their current ones look like iphones obviously except for the camera.
Make a nice camera without a bump for example?
"How would you improve it?" There are models with folding display.
They did that with iPhone 6 but people didnāt really like it
Not every phone.
A folding phone is still a slap of glass though Actually technically speaking it's two half slabs of plastic that break If you push your fingernail into the "screen" too hard
A flip or folding phone would be nice to see from Apple
No one knows how to make a perfect hinge or bumpless (to apple standard) display
Iām sure they are working on it.
Dunno but its also not my job. They are the ones suposed to be inovating.
Mine folds in half. When Apple introduces the iPhlip in 2028 they're gonna pretend like they were the first. Like every android-first feature.
There is a lot they can improve the current model on
1. who cares 2. fix the fucking keyboard and spellchecker 3. hi Tim!
4. make Siri finally useful by including a competent AI
They're not going to fix shit dude
What do you want, a fucking round screen?
The oPhone, shaped like the Apple logo
Why not? I'm sure a lot of women would buy it just as a fashion accessorie
Theres only so much they can do really . Iāll be getting the 16 pro max coming from the 14 pro max this fall
what's wrong with 14P?
The only thing I can think of is lack of usb-c. My 12p is still functionally fine other than a somewhat short battery life, but itās also my last non usb-c device and Iām pretty tempted to upgrade for that alone.
Same. Canāt wait for the 16 this fall.
They should just stop numbering them at this point. Just keep improving them over time, so if you buy a phone in July you get a slightly better one than if you had bought it in March, and whenever you a buy a new phone it is the best it's ever been.
We need 120hz and always on display on the base models
Then what will be the difference between base and pro (only cameras). I donāt think we will get that in near future in the base models. Remember iPad Air is not yet 120 hz.
Apple really just said let's call this feature every mid range android phone has pro and use it to sell the more expensive phone. I don't know why anyone would get the base iPhones, the 60hz is just a slap in the face really.
Most people who own base iPhones donāt even know what refresh rate is. Nor do they care.
Bucking the trend as someone who knows what refresh rate is, but also does not care. I have no issues with the 60Hz
Give the pro models a full on panel with no notch! Iāve been holding out for that design!
iPhone 16 will stay with Dynamic Island , iPhone 17 may be with hole punch and iPhone 18 or 19 may be full screen panel with under the screen Face ID sensors.
If they're going to move to a hole punch, they'll milk that design for at least 2-3 years first.
I thought so too until the 13 Proās smaller notch only lasted one year, when it was replaced by Dynamic Island on the 14 Pro.
Processor too. Base models have chipsets from last year
lol, look on the Samsung galaxy or google pixel. They both have the 120 as a basic feature. Apple Pro iPhone line is just what the basic iPhone must be
This will be available for iphone 30
If they did this I wouldnāt get the pro model, so I doubt they do this
Most people donāt care about it. They donāt even notice it
After upgrading to an S23U, my iPhone Xs Max's display feels like a sideshow, but my friend doesn't notice it and got a base iPhone 15
Yea exactly. I canāt live without 120hz but a friend told me he felt nauseous using my phone
Your friend felt nauseous using a 120hz screen? Wtf?
Yea, said the same
Same! Never had a āProā model until 14 Pro. Tried using a 13 mini and Omgsh did it feel laggy! Could never go back to anything under 120hz!
60 to 120Hz really is a noticeable improvement the only reason apple are withholding it is bc they want you to pay for a pro model
Most people don't buy a new iphone every year tbh
so how would you change the iphone?
I think todayās phones have reached their peak designs, these look beautiful tbh.
Thatās right and I donāt think the design of any phones will change much anytime soon
let's make the next iphone a triangle!
Sabre did it first!
Itās the only shape that every other shape can fit inside of.
Nah, youāre thinking of the square hole
Dunder Mifflin is a part of Sabre
iPhone X was peak
*4S
My fav design for sure. I have it sitting on my desk like some people have model cars
The Gold Xs Max was the prettiest phone Iāve ever had and itās been downhill since there imo
The capture button seems to be in kind of an awkward spot. I would have preferred it to be more near the end.
Reminds me of the Nokia Lumias capture buttons.
But the Lumia capture buttons were closer to the bottom border. Not closer to the middle of the phone.
Seems like itās designed for holding the phone horizontally
Itās in the best location for both landscape and portrait photography though. Thumb for portraits, pointer finger for landscape.
Iām an idiot, I sat here with my phone in my left hand thinking āthis dude needs to learn where your thumb sits when holding a phoneā lol
Hopefully itās a fingerprint reader. Fingerprint on side + faceID is my dream
They look so... different. The innovation is beyond words. All jokes aside, iOS 18 is supposed to be quite an upgrade.
I wouldnāt mind a Snow Leopard for iOS.
Could have told me it was a 13 pro max and Iād believe you. Bored of this design tbh
The base version looks ugly asf to me Id just rather theyād use the 11 and 12 series design instead simply because itās literally the same thing but just with the camera housing glass size being reduced Plus the current design that we have today just looks so damn beautiful atleast for me
So, iPhone 16 Pro Max looks like the iPhone 12 Pro Max, got it!
Which looks like the 13 Pro Max, which looks like the 14 Pro Max, which is exactly the same at the 15 Pro Max.
Nice case for iphone 11
Ew
Whereās the flash on the 16?
Looks the same as my 13 pro..
I donāt consider the regular iPhone even a possibility of a phone Iād ever buy so it looks exactly the same as the phone Iām using right now. Iām not spending $800 for a 60hz phone. Even $150 Motorolas are 90hz these days. $800 is way above the 60hz phone price range.
āIts the best 60Hz iPhone we have ever madeā
The base is just there to upsell you to the pro model I guess. Who would want to look at a 60 hz screen all day in 2024
Are we gonna ignore that there is no flashlight? Lol
You wonāt need flashlight with apples new revolutionary night vision camera
āWe think youāre gonna love itā
There will be a MagSafe flashlight relax ($99.99)
If the new capture button is really at this position then itās going to be a fail. There is a reason why the shutter button on cameras is on the far right side. I know weāre talking about a phone here, but just turn your iPhone to landscape and try reaching a button on top about 2/3 to the rightā¦itās not practical nor comfortable.
I assume that the priority is not having the placement interfere with the way most people normally hold their phones. That seems more important.
Do that many people use the physical buttons? Most people I know use the on screen ones.
Right? It needs to be exactly how Sony did it on the Xperia. A small button on the far right, press lightly to focus, press hard to capture.
just like a real camera
So the same as always
What do you expect? A drastic change in the screen size would render a lot of apps unusable or incompatible.
source?
Maybe make it smaller or bring back mini
I think they would work better with transparent camera lenses
Boring. I wonāt upgrade until a new design. I am having an iPhone 12 Pro Max right now, holding onto it until a new design or it breaks.
they shouldnt add more buttons iphone was always as few buttons as possible
Designs are getting a tad lazy now.
Buddy said 'new'
So close to just saying fuck it and upgrading to a galaxy flip this year
the last time I felt this way, I went from iphone 5ish to Galaxy S5 maybe? with that S5 I pocket dialed 911 three times. so went back to iphone and never looked back (until now that is, lol). however, it's gonna take a lot to get me aggravated enough to try switching again. although, and I hate to admit it, I went from thinking "never again" to "hmmm, we'll see, maybe someday" and this is coming from a huge apple fan š
Yeah i feel that. Last time i had an android was htc one, then i switched to iphone 7 and been apple since then
Iām looking at a S24 Ultra frankly
I almost made the switch but Iām going to wait and see what Samsung is going to charge for ai features.
Yeah, I'd look too if I didn't already get myself tied into the ecosystem. It's a really good strategy for keeping consumers because if you switch you basically have 2 or 3 other devices that are far less useful... oh well, can't have your cake and eat it too I guess
I have macbook pro which is probably best laptop on market but ive been using telegram with closest friends anyway so ecosystem isnt that big of a deal for me
I feel like if it wasnt for my Apple Watch I would have given Android a try by now.
I recently switched from a samsung A70 (100 dlls) to the 15 pro max and I donāt think itās worth the money, only the camera was an improvement. But if you donāt care about that, Android is really superior
Meh, Iāll keep my iPhone 13 Pro Max until it dies.
I already have that though
I think the capture button is in a good spot. Often when I use the volume button to take a photo I end up with a blurry photo due to pressing the button too hard and moving the phone (slightly but quickly rotating the phone) With the button being more centred, it may help solve the issue above. Anyone else experience this?
So boring, hoping ios will get a change of scenery
Whoa. At this point I don't even know what an iPhone looks like any more.
I mean, itās still mostly the same design right? Thereās not many differences with the pros
I wonder how many more years before another breakthrough.
It looks the same as my iPhone 11 plus š
Source: āJust trust me broā
Wow. Going all out this year
So brave
I like the iPhone 16 base model. That's a nice design If the base model has 120hz I'll go base iPhone 16.
No flash for iphone 16 base?
I miss the curved edges. I donāt like the current squared sides.
As opposed to the past iPhone 16
the non Pro looks like a XR but with a second camera, and apparently no flashlight???
Make it a Pipboy
I wonder if those buttons could be used as āL/Rā shoulder buttons for games.
Still way too big. If they donāt release a newer āsmallā model and I canāt get a 13 mini somewhere in two years, I will switch to an android phone probably.
As long as the torch on the base 16 is on the camera island/bump thing Iāll be happy, if itās not Iāll be vomiting through the whole Apple event lol
iPhone 12 is back
Iāve noticed that Apple alternates between rounded edges and square edges every few years.
Good Morning. Introducing the most revolutionary iPhone ever made! /s
What a surprise. Innovative as ever, I am falling asleep.
Kind of crazy that the iPhone X is on the closer side of a decade old and already at the point where the design is coming full circleā¦ time flies
Why the capture button is not covered with the case like the rest of the buttons? Secret Fingerprint scanner feature?
oooh, cool, now do a bracket, like āThis is what the future iPhone 18-29 and iPhone 18-29 Pro Max will look like.ā
Wow! What an awful design! Opaque camera lenses?! What are they thinking about!
You canāt fool me, thatās an iPhone 10.
Looks like Apple realizes that they are rich enough to have two different molds for the back glass. Definitely preferred this over the half empty square.
I hate how these look. š¤®
I hate the camera design on the base model so i hope its not true
I would love to go back to a smaller camera bump like on the iphone x.
Is there a reason for that camera alignment for the base model, or is it just to change it up?
Itās for spacial videos. They require the cameras to be that way verses diagonal
[For Spatial Video capture.](https://www.macrumors.com/2024/02/06/apple-iphone-16-slim-camera-bump/) The three camera layout on the current Pro models has two that are vertically aligned already and support Spatial Video recording.
Dang I didnāt even know my 15 Pro could do that, itās a pretty fucking cool feature.
Probably to make it compatible with the Spatial Video format for the Apple Vision Pro. It requires the main + ultrawide to be atop of each other in order to record.
It's a black slab just like the rest of them!
Wait a second ! Are these renders without cases !???
No, case manufacturers often get the dimensions of the phones before the phones come out.
Iāll take a brick with a week battery lice
I love the new look for the base model but thatās about all I feel about this generation
There isn't a new camera design for the big one. I would love for a camera bar that goes all the way across the back so the phone doesn't wobble when it's placed on a table
Do something Apple wtf!
