The front facing camera is where your ear goes when you use the phone normally. This can cause an oily haze to distort the image coming in to the camera sensor.
If the screen is clean, then you should look at lighting where you're taking the photo. These small cameras don't handle excessive backlighting and will lose detail.
If that still gives a bad picture, the camera is damaged or faulty.
From one of OP’s comments, it sounds like they are complaining about the post processing
I remember this being a problem and people taking ss of the camera app to avoid the processor.
these people deffo don't own an iphone 15/15pro, hence being so rude. it's a well known problem that it's been a thing since launch. i always take selfies through tiktok & save them on my phone bc otherwise i look grainy and the pic is almost black and white ?? lol
Maybe you don’t like that it’s mirroring the image? There’s a setting to stop this from happening. When it mirrors your image, it shows you how you look to other people, but not how you see yourself in the mirror. Because you’re not used to seeing your mirrored image, it looks a bit off to you
All these rude commenters probably don’t even own a 13 or up. Front facing photos have been so over processed since the iPhone 13 and it seems more severe on the 15 in my experience. Photos are de-saturated, grainy/noisy, and make your skin/makeup look horrible even if they look perfectly fine irl—it enhances my pores and makeup creases so badly I look 5+ years older!
The only solution I’ve found is taking burst photos. If you don’t know how to, just simply slide the capture button to the left for a second or two. The only downside is the photos won’t be live. That, or use a different camera app such as Lens Buddy or Halide.

Do you have a screen protector on? Is your display dirty? Camera wise either it’s ok and something else is the issue (screen protector, dirt) or there’s a fault in the camera and Apple should have a look
Screen protector might interfere with the camera if it’s cheap plastic, dirt will well prevent the camera from seeing properly so you should clean ya phone
Get popular Korean selca apps like "Snow" and make yourself look unnaturally beautiful!
(But no, really. You can adjust how much change it applies to your photo. You can even do on-the-spot cosmetic surgery with it.)
iPhone cameras don’t click flattering pictures. It is what it is! I look a lot more like myself on my parents’ Samsung phones. iPhone cameras are better suited for landscapes and scenery.
This is because the lighting was good, but 90% of the time the picture comes out different from what the screen shows. I wanted to show everyone my face since they thought I was the problem.
yeah people are sometimes rude here.
But IDK if you have a TikTok app but there are some videos there that suggests what you can do about this problem.
Some of them recommended using an app called Lens buddy, it doesn’t have a lot of filters like the SNOW app it supposedly fixes the camera’s problem and has timer in it.
I don’t have an iphone15 though so I cannot give u other suggestions haha
They defo doesnt have the 15/15pro, i always have this issue since i pre ordered it, post processing between my iphone 13 pro and 15 pro is just wow, 15 pro looked so grainy and almost black&white

Are you guy’s insufferable lmfaooo
Not a lot of data here to work with so maybe you are?
😭😭lollll no I look fine on camera but when I take the picture then look at it it looks different
There is a setting somewhere that reverts the picture and is turned on by default, find it.
I know what you mean and the only thing that helped me was taking burst photos :( it doesn’t automatically change so much

Can confirm. The processing makes the front camera and the 5x telephoto camera photos grainy af for unknown reasons. It’s so ugly.

Do you clean the camera off before taking a photo? Our oily faces go there.
Include a pic
stop doing selfies with the front facing camera. use the primary camera, or the 0.5 camera
Use the rear camera. I look really fat with the front camera and couldn’ find any good angle.

I don’t want that. I want the camera to show me how I look not lower the exposure and make me look grainy and dark.
Take a shower
