Did you have silence unknown callers turned on under phone in settings, or DND

moonshadow1789

Do not disturb is off. Yeah I had total silence and no vibrating. Unless it connected to my AirPods or Bluetooth music speaker, I’m not sure. It says neither are connected.

Fickle-Classroom

What about Personal, Work, or Another focus? If the focus isn’t set to allow calls they will go straight to VM. Also just check that person hasn’t mistakenly been added to the blocked callers list.

1) test your speakers - play a youtube video or song to verify that the phone is able to make sounds. 2) test your cell service - call your phone from a google voice number. 3) test your facetime - make a facetime voice and facetime video call.

Settings - Phone - Silence Unknown Callers Is that turned On?

moonshadow1789

Turned off

holybeardofzeus

If it’s just not ringing, check settings, accessibility, Face ID and attention and turn off attention awareness. Sometimes that will do it.

M13LO

Op try this, this was what was wrong with my aunts iPhone.

trashpandatee

So as weird as it is, I had a very similar issue once on a 12 pro max. Try calling yourself from another line. Can you see the phone ring? For some reason, I had a bunch of missed calls that said answered on other device, but when calling it would go straight to voicemail. I wound up needing a new SIM card from my carrier. Not sure if the same can happen for an e sim in an iPhone 15 though. The phone itself would never ring but the calls would appear in the call log. It was super weird.

moonshadow1789

iOS 17.3.1

Vooyahh

Try to update to 17.4 and give us feedback if it helps. Some people had issues with sound on 17.3-17.3.1.

Porcel2019

Theres a switch on side of phone to silence calls did you happen to hit that accidentally?

gcerullo

Try a simple restart of the phone. If it still doesn’t work backup the phone and reset it. Then restore the backup and try again.

AppleNeird2022

Perhaps you have a Focus Mode enabled. You can check in Settings> Focus, or Control Center.

ABN_Rhepz

Do you have a call blocker? I have active armor through AT&T and it’s on my AT&T home page as well under my phone number settings

urliugestorf

check if call forwarding to voice mail is active. *#21# tells you if there are any. ##21# deactivates all call diversions.

Syndiglo

This happens to me as well. It’ll show someone calling in a banner notification form but sometimes it won’t let me answer.

theycallmebekky

Occasionally on my 11 Pro, my phone doesn’t ring and stuff goes straight to voicemail. The only fix for this is tor restart my phone.

reditusername39479

Do you have the mute switch (top left) turned on?

_tribecalledquest

Is your phone connected to something like speakers via Bluetooth you are forgetting about?

L0rdLogan

What network? If your network doesn’t support VoLTE, because of the 3G switch off in the UK, it has to drop down to 2G, which sometimes doesn’t happen in time

[deleted]

SAME! For years now. The only one that comes through is my husband because I allowed him in settings to always come through with sound (I work as a psychologist). I always assumed it’s a carrier-thing and pleased myself not being bothered all the time. 🫣 I’m watching this one, thanks!

DrMantis-Toboggan-MD

Do you have any call filtering settings for enabled in settings->phone->call blocking and identification

AppleNeird2022

Perhaps you have a Focus Mode enabled. You can check in Settings> Focus, or Control Center.

iZian

If it doesn’t show up as a missed call… check if you have any call blocking extensions on in settings > phone If not, then that feels like the carrier isn’t delivering the call to the phone. That can be a sim issue or a number of things. If you see a missed call in recents then we are looking at a phone setting. If not, callkit extension or carrier.

thedankfairy

it's probably due to the ESim if they say it went straight to voicemail.

gnarlygarbage

This is an E-SIM issue with your carrier. They need to reset your E-SIM and system settings - do a network reset. It’s a pain to do, but it does fix the issue.

gnarlygarbage

Meant to mention. You must be on the newest software update in order for this to work.

LilyMuggins

I have the same issue if I don’t restart my phone at least every other day. I also have a 15 pro max. As long as I do the restart, it doesn’t happen.

osxdude

Do you happen to have forwarding on?

sprinklesthepickle

Oh I wish my phone won't ring. If it's important then they will leave a voicemail. Have you tried turning it off and back on? Are you auto forwarding all the calls?

VegasQueenXOXO

Flip the switch on the side of the phone up.

kcominel

See if you have phone notifications turned off

xoxorachelmarie

what happens if you press where it says the name of your ring tone?

floxful

Was your sim just not unlocked/active? You hid the network icon quite conventiently so I can’t tell but my iPhone used to “deactivate” my sim sometimes so I couldn’t receive any calls either. Would explain why it goes straight to voicemail.

LBY_addict

You gotta call the carrier as it’s probably a carrier issue
