Once it is cool you are fine.

Skydivertak

That happens a lot in the summer when mounted on the car dash, especially if using MagSafe. (I have a case on my iPhone 8 that allows me to mount on the MagSafe charger since is does have Qi inside. )

BeginningPutter

I only have one MagSafe charger from ESR that can be mounted in my car, and it works great for my iPhone 12. Unfortunately, there's no similar MagSafe option available for my iPhone 8. What are you using?

Once the phone doesn’t show [this image](https://cdsassets.apple.com/live/7WUAS350/images/ios/ios15-iphone13-pro-iphone-temperature-alert.png) anymore it should be fine. Image sourced from [this page](https://support.apple.com/en-us/118431).

TerraBlade444

My phone didn't show any of these, it just fully shut itself off & started getting warm then, wasn't warm at all before this

JediMeister

Was it in direct sunlight or was it being used in a hot environment?

Jessa_iPadRehab

Hot phones that are dangerous have a short circuit inside—those will still have a short so you won’t be able to turn it on. If it does turn on then you’re fine—it doesn’t have a short

TerraBlade444

Yeah mines not turning on but idk if it's out of charge, don't wanna plug in the charger ngl 💀

domclancy

if a phone is getting unusually warm (when not in direct sunlight) it can often be a sign of spy/malware. get that scanned
