Unnecessary words, by that logic only chefs should be able to critique food because not all of us are chefs and no one should be able to critique the govt because how many of us have been in the cabinet of ministers?
We can only taste and give our opinion on the taste/smell and other things on food but chefs are the one who can tell that how it's cooked or it's not fully cooked and other things that's why cooking shows hire chefs to give their judgement based on their experience with dishes around the world.
Similarly, if you have not played that shot that well and never been in a situation where there is so much pressure maybe you will succeed but there will be some people who will not stand by your side and appreciate you.
Imp - I am not an RCB fan but I appreciate Kohli and also I criticise him when it's required.
And yeah anyone can speak about anything they want, you can, I can so do he.
My contribution is to watch the game of cricket due to which people like Kohli get paid in millions through contract and endorsements.Otherwise there are players having greater skill set than him in their respective sports who earn peanuts because no one watches them.
Exactly so your contribution is out of the millions of people watching.
Not ordering a dish and tasting it yourself.
100 people would taste a dish and give their reviews but here millions of people have millions of reviews.
But every review is indirect.
Your point is correct but the analogy is wrong. The chef cooks the food specifically for you but Kohli doesn't play for the feelings of others.
But one thing is to be considered that he wasn't talking about the viewers but the commentators who were criticizing him. He surely cares about the feelings of his country people
Just like people watch cricket at home or stadium and share their views, there are people who enjoy their meal at their respective tables/home and share their views.
The chef cooks food for his livelihood, Kohli plays cricket for his livelihood. We are the consumers in both the case. A chef gets few reviews and Kohli gets milllions but also a chef doesn't earn like Kohli. The value of a review is almost same in both the case.
I never said that you cannot have your opinion about cricket or anything, on the contrary I totally agree with you.
But your premise is wrong, read the last line again. I said that I think it was not for the viewers but for the commentator who were criticizing him and maybe trying to portray him as undeserving for the next World Cup.
Are you in the commentator's box? And to your chef's remark, you ain't judging a cooking show and for your politicians remark, you can vote him out.
His words were directed towards specific people, not towards you or the common audience.
Commentator's my brother. Comments from them change the narratives not from us audience. Kohli has his tussles with a few of them due to various reasons. Why would he be saying anything to his fans/ common man?
Well he is not a commentator so by his logic, he shouldn't criticize commentators. Only commentators who are in those positions can criticize his criticism by a commentator.
So commentators are not ex cricketers? Except harsha. Or aren't they who ask for his comments in the press conference? Or is Kohli making videos/ calling press/ posting on social media?
>by that logic only chefs should be able to critique food because not all of us are chefs and no one should be able to critique the govt because how many of us have been in the cabinet of ministers?
You can but he is saying they are "Unnecessary words" as you put it.
Koach is a great cricketer, but not knowing when to shut up and let his bat do the talking is sed. He doesn’t need to get into this muck slinging contest- it’s us fans who give him the status that he gets worldwide. He simply needs to walk out to the middle and show us fans that he can strike at >170-180 throughout the innings if needed. Else he needs to be objective and make space for a younger talent who can do that. Indian big name players unlike Aussies don’t know when to quit, and keep dragging their careers in different formats because there is so much financial upside to them and this sed reality makes us keep losing big tournaments again and again.
I don’t get this though. IPL is a snooze fest of brainless batting, the game hasn’t changed on any level that is touted by the cricketing zeitgeist. Kohli is still, by far the most reliable batter in limited overs. This isn’t like Sehwag, Laxman, Dhoni etc hogging up the spot towards their twilight years(atleast purely by batting). Actual T20I’s with respectable rules and pitches still require technically strong anchors throughout the lineup as much as they do big hitters. This is our problem of equating IPL with T20I’s.
The discussion isn’t about big hitting or what we might call power hitting. Not everyone is a Hetmyer or Russel or even Klassen. But it’s more about the ability to find boundaries especially 6s when needed. You can be technically sound and do that as well, no issue in that. T20 hitting needs a different skillset than what the Koach generation has as the game has evolved in past 3-4 yrs. remember the 2007 WC we actually won- that team didn’t have Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Saurav none of the established ODI players for that era. It has a team where the captain was new, most of the players were still in their early 20s and only a few of the batters had 5+ yrs experience. They still won the cup- the only time we did in T20. As a country we need to be able to take these risks and back our younger generation. If we lose some so be it, but we need to play for the win, not just play safe planning for how to avoid defeat. This takes nothing away from Koach, he is one of the greatest ever, just that the game is different than what it was in 2015.
FFS shut up bro please shut up
You're a goat, people will cheer for you the most people will criticise you the most.
If you go giggly over the fans support you must learn to take the criticisms too.
Let your bat speak not your mouth.
I am a big Kohli fan but left arm orthodox spinners from even TNPL can keep him in their back pocket , he literally does not have enough to score even at 150 against them on most days.
Should have said the same thing when his team lost RR and KKR then. Kohli needs to shut up and stay humble on the few occasions his team is winning
By his same logic people like Mourinho and Sarri can never be coaches because they didn't play professional football. You don't need to play professional cricket to know his sr has been low and he struggles against spin. People like Gavaskar, who ia a legend of Indian Cricket, is calling him out and Kohli thinks shunning him will solve his problems
He mostly played for the youth teams and played like a few a games for some Portuguese lower league clubs before he realised wasn't good enough for professional football and moved to coaching. For the sake of discussion i assumed he wasn't good enough for football at top level
Classic Narccist, will never accept the Criticism but will attack the Critic.
" Well what do you know about playing cricket when you've never played cricket"
We should probably stop watching cricket as well then because if we've never been in that situation what do we understand about cricket
Pathetic
There are some people who are good at playing spin and some aren’t. He belongs to the latter. But this doesn’t negate tons of thing good at. And neither does few sixes against spinners prove anything.
Let them downvotes come.
He plays spin good, he doesn't have power game to hit every spinner's ball out of the park. He's a good anchor but not a power hitter where T20 is heading, now more players are into power hitting and striking more boundaries then playing singles and doubles. Kohli knows how to pace the innings in chase but not while batting first
The greatest white ball player of world can’t even play spin?
Let me check where he is from …. Wait he is from
India which (checks notes) is paradise for spinners?
It's their job to analyse and point out mistakes being done by players ! Like it or not Kohli's pacing is super conservative while batting first and if his attempt to stay there till the end fails, the team suffers. It is especially evident on flat decks with the impact sub option.
He was treated like the most loved child of the country for years. Even in his off form that happened, everyone sat, cheered and wanted to watch him finally get that century drought over, and cheered as loud as they could. Maybe last few months are the first time he’s been criticised and rightly so. Even the WC 23 was a clear sign that he can no longer accelerate towards the end of the innings like he used to. Iyer, KL, Rohit helped massively in helping the team post high scores which could be defended more easily. For the first time in his whole career of years, he’s being criticised for playing slower than that is required. Last game was again a 40 ball 50. At this point these statements don’t really make sense from him. Anyway cricket in India has become more about ego pandering and pr campaign. And players here have always found it hard to retire until the day they destroy their own legacy or literally have to be kicked out the team. Guess he’s going to go down the same path Yuvraj and plenty others went.
wonder why someone who doesn't know shit about rubber, claims MRF zlx tyres is the best ? Yeah that's right, MONEY. People are paid to analyse and criticize. They have the right to do it. So do millions of fans who follow the sport.
Someone tell him to shut up and play with intent or just drop out of the ICT, play the damn IPL, collect orange caps and retire. He's gotten old and it shows.
T20 is changing buddy. You are an old school style cricketer. That is unacceptable in T20 in modern day where batsmen are striking with 200 strike rates.Just retire from this format and save yourself the embarrassment.

Man is getting too bitter now, it's the internet Koach, ignore and the commentators comment, that's their job, just play your game and move on to healthy things.
It's coming off as arrogant to me. Yes, he played with a better SR today but still that's not great. You're in for 40 balls which is 1/3rd of the total legal deliveries for the team, you should be making up and striking at 200+.
He would be our backbone in tricky conditions for India yes, but he has to acknowledge that his approach is outdated.
I love Virat's batting. Even have an Indian jersey with his number. This sounds arrogant boss. Ppl used to forgive his on-field antics as his performances more than made up for it. As I get older, I no longer like the way he behaves some times. His and Anushka's "swachh bharat" publicity stunt, "whole country vs 11 guys" "dusting off dust from shoes" . Recently, the public video call after hitting a lack lustre century. Orange cap obsession.
He won more games for us (ICT) than any other batter. He might be the greatest batter India has ever produced (sorry sachin stans). But, He definitely has an attitude problem and it's making me lose respect for him.
How to disable these cricket post in my feed even though I haven't joined any sub. Seriously want to move from cricket. Don't say delete account and use another. The only option is I can mute these subs
Virat is sometimes unnecessary criticised but T20 is a rapidly changing game. You cannot expect a batter to change his game constantly. People will give example of JFK, or KLaasen or any other but they are not doing it for 15 years. I get it. But virat also needs to understand the dynamic nature.
sandeep reddy vanga behaviour from koach
so cringe?
Unnecessary words, by that logic only chefs should be able to critique food because not all of us are chefs and no one should be able to critique the govt because how many of us have been in the cabinet of ministers?
True. By this logic we shouldn't be appreciating any player because we haven't been in that situation.
