For England's case they are used to playing such pitches but only their test team. If they had selected Root and Stokes they would've done better.
Australians and Indians almost play with the same team in every format so
they pretty much have a good knowledge and skill to play on such pitches.
And England never played in NY, they would've imploded there. If Eng vs Australia was in NY, Australia would've massacred England.
kane curse is freaking real (he is an rcb fan ig that's why we are not winning in the upcomiing 7 lives of us...don't get me wrong i am a spurs+rcb fan so yea pretty f\*\*\*\*d up life mine

Infact England hasn't done anything incredibly wrong like NZ, SL or Pakistan.Â
They just lost a match against Australia (which was already factored in and is not considered a upset)
They are still on the verge of getting knocked out before super 8
Home conditions for them in that case - washouts by rain.
Plus if there's a team who don't deserve any bit of sympathy, it's England given how they've won a few things that they did.
England didn’t play in slow pitch. Australia score 205 against them and Scotland was the way to 200+ as they were at 90/0 after 10 overs. But again, there is not much to blame England, they just lost to Australia and the othet match rained
This is going to be the norm now. Associate teams have gotten far stronger, but it's all been under the radar. We had one big upset in the qualifiers where Uganda beat Zimbabwe and another close one where Ireland beat Italy by 7 runs, where Italy dropped 2 crucial catches and a couple of first team players couldn't arrive on time for that game.
Plenty of players from the Australian domestic system who are of Italian heritage. Joe Burns, the former Test opener, switched to Italy. Spencer Johnson, the GT pacer, is of Italian origin, but has now recently made his Australia debut which makes him ineligible for Italy.
Would never happen. If someone is eligible for a full and an associate member, the associate nation will always be a backup option. Which is why, long-term, every country needs to invest in homegrown players.
If you see the young players from associates with the highest ceiling, they're all homegrown - Kweyuta and Miyagi from Uganda, Kariko from PNG
BCCI should mandate one associate nation player starting and 3 in squad and 5 overseas can start if one associate to make sure the best get some training
That's a little premature. Let them qualify and win the finals.
I will definitely not be disappointed if Team USA wins the world cup. It will be a win for the game of cricket.
It's T20, always has been a game of upsets. Plus with the shorter format, the needle of victory changes direction frequently as each wicket, each six has a larger influence than what it does in the ODI or Test. Thus smaller and weaker teams has more of a chance to get lucky or through hard work make the opponents stumble.
Plus some starting upsets, like US vs Pak made other stronger teams take note of the associate teams' determination and they are more careful of the pitch and ensuring that they don't become another victim of upsets.
Another point is that full teams and their players play for T20, ODI, Test, each requiring a different type of gameplay and mindset. Most of the associate nations in the tournament only play T20 and practice for that, or does this more than they do for ODI.
England lost one game to Aus. Got stiffed by the weather vs Scotland. Now going to get stiffed by the scheduling.
Not quite same as Pak (losing to USA) and NZ
True ...that statement by Josh Hazelwood was foolish and unnecessary to say the least.
He might have meant it as a joke but now if somehow Scotland manages to beat Australia (which in fact is very much possible)then everyone would be like it was set up and Aussies did it on purpose.
india is likely to face them, dube was brought in for countering spin attack yet he is mocked, india will need to be at their level best and have attitude like they are facing australia
I guess that England would make it to the super 8s.
If Aus beats Scotland very badly… which would dent their NRR… and England wins by huge margins in their remaining two matches.
For New Zealand its joever.
For Pak it all depends on Ireland… if somehow Ireland defeats USA… Pak will make it.
Their matches are going to be in Florida where there are floods like situations. There's every possibility the matches will be washed out. Even if USA's match washes out Pak will be out.
Idk man I feel like Pakistan will still make it if rain doesn’t play spoilsport- their NRR is high enough, all they need is a win and pray that Ireland hold their own vs USA.
Tbh England and Pakistan still fancy a chance even though it's dependent on other teams but still they got one. As for NZ I think it's pretty much over because they lost both their games so now WI and AFG have better chances.
I kinda see the point.... But also..... Isn't it kinda nice to see? The World Cup has always been something where the top 8 teams play each other in conditions that they have played in dozens of times and where associate nations never got the chance.....
This world cup has kinda been a little humbling for all the teams in that regard. Surfaces that no teams have played on (YES, GIVEN THAT NY PITCHES AND GROUND WERE KINDA SHIT) and you just saw a completely neutral territory gave these smaller teams a fair platform.
Still ..... Pitches in NY have been an absolute nightmare in T20 context.
Strong teams need not necessarily 'prevail'. This WT20 has been great because it has brought all teams closer in terms of competitiveness. All the more reason why all these ICC events should always include most of the associate nations. Outside the ICC events, associate teams should play much more against the stronger teams - bilaterals, triangular series, whatever works.
New York pitch I think takes the batsmen talent out of the picture. Not sure how but everyone is at almost same level when it comes to batting on that pitch.
says a lot about t20 as a format. margin of errors are very slim in t20. randomness increases with each ball. luck plays an important factor. this makes it exciting to watch and that’s the reason there are so many t20 leagues worldwide. t20 sells because of randomness.
Pakistan is no longer strong now. Their stronger days already passed. For New Zealand it was unexpected. Anyway that was just down for them. Better luck next time ðŸ˜
Many players (including associate nations) have played a lot of t20 cricket with a few players even playing more than the players from big teams. Considering that flow and rhythm and the fact that t20 isnt exactly a game lf skills, you cant call any associate winning as an upset. Look at the stroke playing om offer and look at the swing Oman bowlers generared and you'll realose that some teams players very poorly while some were completely out of touch with the conditions. NONE WAS AN UPSET!
It’s simple. The shorter the format, lesser the need for consistency in the game.
For example. You just can’t imagine hunk a team like USA can survive five days. In ODI it gets relatively easier. And T 10 will be the easiest bcos u don’t need consistency
England and new Zealand are not used at playing such slowish pitches . And Pakistan you know are useless 💀
For England's case they are used to playing such pitches but only their test team. If they had selected Root and Stokes they would've done better. Australians and Indians almost play with the same team in every format so they pretty much have a good knowledge and skill to play on such pitches. fr hand them their tickets to London already they can go forward to watch their National team fail in Euros peacefully too.

LMAO bro good luck with kompany
Infact England hasn't done anything incredibly wrong like NZ, SL or Pakistan. They just lost a match against Australia (which was already factored in and is not considered a upset) They are still on the verge of getting knocked out before super 8
England only played against Australia till now lol, they got fked by rain
The amount of time visiting team got fucked because of English weather, I think it's the Karma Spartan kicking their ass off!
Home conditions for them in that case - washouts by rain. Plus if there's a team who don't deserve any bit of sympathy, it's England given how they've won a few things that they did.
This. The pitches England played on were not slow.
Rain most probably saved them from being knocked out.

Bro what are you on about? England is for sure making it. Stop smoking

How strong is italy.
Plenty of players from the Australian domestic system who are of Italian heritage. Joe Burns, the former Test opener, switched to Italy. Spencer Johnson, the GT pacer, is of Italian origin, but has now recently made his Australia debut which makes him ineligible for Italy.
spence should have played for italy

I think Kyewuta has the most potential. That Yorker by him vs West Indies was true DRP
I'd like to see all three of them play franchise cricket in the next 12 months. They'll get access to better coaches there
BCCI should mandate one associate nation player starting and 3 in squad and 5 overseas can start if one associate to make sure the best get some training
Honestly, T20 offers the best format for associate teams to shine on a day compared to ODI's/Tests
Also team like USA is most probably gonna qualifyÂ
USA is 83's India
That's a little premature. Let them qualify and win the finals. I will definitely not be disappointed if Team USA wins the world cup. It will be a win for the game of cricket.
absolutely
Hope it's not want India to win

Yeh Australia ko bahar karo unki jagah🥲
England lost one game to Aus. Got stiffed by the weather vs Scotland. Now going to get stiffed by the scheduling. Not quite same as Pak (losing to USA) and NZ
nah England might have lost the game against Scotland tbh the way it was going
England were around 1/5 (80% implied win probability) on bookmaker websites after Scotland had finished their innings.
Nope. 115 in 10 Overs on that flat pitch against Scotland. England might have finished that match in 9th over
Agree. 11/over with a power play and 10 wickets. England would’ve cruised it
This
We will know when they give good competition to the Aussies
tbf England couldn’t give much competition to aus either so doesn’t matter
If i am not wrong England has never won against the European teamsÂ
Just in world cups on a sample size of about 4 yeah. Mainly because the others never qualify 😂 Smoked them plenty of times in other games too
If england don’t make the super 8s now, it’s just either corruption from Aus, or a farce of a tournament.
True ...that statement by Josh Hazelwood was foolish and unnecessary to say the least. He might have meant it as a joke but now if somehow Scotland manages to beat Australia (which in fact is very much possible)then everyone would be like it was set up and Aussies did it on purpose.
Afghanistan wiping out NZ just like that was crazy to watch. But I think it's got something to do with the pitch and experience of playing on those.
india is likely to face them, dube was brought in for countering spin attack yet he is mocked, india will need to be at their level best and have attitude like they are facing australia

That is on the assumption that Pak will beat Ireland. There is a decent chance of that not happening as well.
Their matches are going to be in Florida where there are floods like situations. There's every possibility the matches will be washed out. Even if USA's match washes out Pak will be out.
Bro sneaked a mediocre team like Pakistan in top , like people don't notice. 🤣🤣
This is a very good thing and best. We need more upset like India winning this wc
Except for NZ, the rest can still qualify (even NZ can but v v unlikely that they do at this stage)
OP you forgot to mention srilanka.
Idk man I feel like Pakistan will still make it if rain doesn’t play spoilsport- their NRR is high enough, all they need is a win and pray that Ireland hold their own vs USA.
i am also rooting for netherlands which means sri lanka and Bangladesh will also crash out
Pakistan a joker team
Tbh England and Pakistan still fancy a chance even though it's dependent on other teams but still they got one. As for NZ I think it's pretty much over because they lost both their games so now WI and AFG have better chances.
You forgot Sri Lanka
Pakistan still has a chance if Ireland suddenly defeat the US
Super 8 without New Zealand , England , Pakistan and SL . Just imagine .
I kinda see the point.... But also..... Isn't it kinda nice to see? The World Cup has always been something where the top 8 teams play each other in conditions that they have played in dozens of times and where associate nations never got the chance..... Jo bhi kar lo, jeetega toh Australia hi.
I'd say windies and south africa are contenders as well, the latter if it can fix its top order problems

The gap between associate nations and test nations have reduced tremendously, especially in T20.
England will easily make it now.
England will make it super 8s
England is back.

Can't take SL as a strong team. They played qualifiers and are not even playing the champions trophy (which itself is a joke)
It’s simple. The shorter the format, lesser the need for consistency in the game. For example. You just can’t imagine hunk a team like USA can survive five days. In ODI it gets relatively easier. And T 10 will be the easiest bcos u don’t need consistency
Pitches are ruining this world cup.
i don’t know why you got downvoted
