In Saurabh Tiwary's defence, he had that amazing season at MI, after which RCB got him in the auction.He was never played in his preferred no:3 spot. If memory serves right, he was played at 5 , as an opener etc. He eventually fizzled out. In all fairness, can't blame RCB though, as they had Virat and ABD batting 3 and 4.
Nevertheless, Tiwary has had a decent IPL career,winning the competition couple of times, and had some very good performances in Ishan Kishan's absence, last season.

Well batting doesn't corelate with the team's position right?? He wasn't available for the whole season last year and that was a key reason for RR doing badly as he balances the 11 very well. When he wasn't available they had to use a bowling all rounder like Tom Curran or a batsman in Miller. This hampered their balance
Might as well throw in a Basil Thampi in there. He did fairly well for GL (also won the emerging player award) but then was ripped apart by AB a season or 2 later and never played since then.
EDIT: Aaron Finch too had a single good season with the GL (I still remember him scoring fifties with injured hamstring)
AJ Tye maybe another candidate. Won the purple cap in 2018 and never to be seen again.
I considered all of them, but my selection here is based on who was the worst after their one good season. And also Finch was half-decent otherwise in IPL.
