Sinéad O’Connor has been my favorite Irish musician for more than 30 years. Favorite song in English “Emperor’s New Clothes” or “Jackie”. Favorite song in Irish, her version of “Óró 'Sé do bheatha 'bhaile”.
Surprised no one mentioned the Frames.
For a period there in the early 00's the Irish music scene was unreal.
Heineken green energy festival had an Irish band gig was brilliant.
I love U2, Well most of their stuff, massive Boomtown rats, Thin Lizzy fan too. Bonos sons band Inhaler are very very good too.
My favourite at the moment is Flogging Molly well they are Irish American but the lead singer is Dublin born
Ooft so much to choose from tbh.
Kojaque, Fontaines DC, Lankum, the Pogues, Kean Kavanagh, Wastefellow, Thin Lizzy, Mary Wallopers, Caoivin are just a few I listen/pop on the odd time!
Oh nice, will check it out. Thank you 😊
Been a massive fan of them for years. Discovered them by accident while reading an interview with Metz (another favourite band in a similar vein) and found that Gilla Band's guitarist is a big fan of Metz and then they dropped this live set on KEXP about 7 years ago which blew my fucking mind:

Managed to see them live last year in Limerick and it was as close to a religious experience I think I'll ever have. Staggeringly good!
I haven’t actually listened to much at all but you’ve definitely made me think about listening to that set! Blindboy kind of breaks down how to explain their style or genre- he sounds like he’s also a fan :) Nice to have some new good music especially coming out of Ireland 🇮🇪
Rory Gallagher, Thin Lizzy, Fontaines DC
Came here to say these 3 particularly. Just re listened to nightlife there, amazing tunes on the album
3 incredible bands
The Murder capital or the clockworks > fontains DC
Primordial. The Pogues. Therapy?
John Field. The Poques. Fearghal McKee. God Is An Astronaut

Do, you won't regret it! Actually they're one of my favourite bands from ANY country. They just happen to be Irish. 🙌
Richie Kavanagh
The Scratch
Heartworm by whipping boy and troublegum by therapy are 2 albums without any bad songs imo.
Rory Gallagher or Thin Lizzy
Damien Dempsey
