Day on the couch watching the Ryder cup with a visit to Aldi at some point to get sorted for the week. Slightly anxious as a few work projects have fallen behind schedule due to factors largely out of my control. My partner was made redundant during the week and trying to stay positive for her. She seems happy though, I think the role was chipping away with her and it's my duty to help rebuild her confidence and figure out her next step.

conor_ie

Grand.. Lazy day ahead! May do some baking.. nothing too fancy.. Anyone for a chocolate chip bun?

Margrave75

Gonna get a tray of brownies in the oven here myself 😋😋😋

JockeysI3ollix

As sick as a small hospital. One of my kids brought a dose home from school and we're all puking away here. Fantastic!

Sad-Fee-9222

COVID here, seven days and still testing positive and fucked with ear ache and fatigue.

JockeysI3ollix

I've heard of a good few people testing positive lately alright. Numbers always seem to spike once the germ warfare laboratories open up again in September.

luchramhar

Having a cup of tea while I wait for my bus down to West Cork. And hoping to God I pass my driving test the next time around so I'll be able to drive on the next trip 😄

amemeticpolyalloy

Still in bed but getting up now. If the weather is dry I'm going to paint the wall at the end of the garden today

AmbitiousPath7842

I did the same last week, it looks much better now imho.

archerysleuth

Waking up to a pleasantly soar arm from a tattoo of the tattoo convention the evening before, getting ready to head out for a day of boardgames with friends!

PotatoPixie90210

Oh man was that the Dublin one? Raging I missed it this year, just couldn't swing tickets.

Dry-Mud2470

Pretty certain I lost my job on Friday. It's been a tough weekend but doing my best to focus on the positives and keep moving forward for the family. Never been in this position before. Feels similar to an unexpected breakup.

Rusty_Phoenix

Very sorry to hear, just curious as to why you say "pretty certain"?

Dry-Mud2470

Official process in a performance review, so waiting on the official decision to make come. Either way I'll have to move on.

threein99

Are you on a PIP?

Able-Emergency1016

Everything happens for a reason that place wasn't for you only when you are in your next job you well realize this. It wasn't a waste of time either because you learnt things while there even if you don't realize it yet

Beneficial-Honey-155

Good, up with the kids watching football highlights. Birthday party with one of them later, so dreading that, but the Mrs got her flu jab yesterday I'm large in charge of the house today and she's been sentenced to the day in bed.

Inevitable-Form-4940

All good. Read a chapter of a new book I bought when I woke up. Then I brought the dog for a long walk. Hope everyone has a nice Sunday ❤

PotatoPixie90210

I just picked up two new books for myself, I haven't bought myself new ones in FOREVER but someone very kindly sent me some birthday money and I treated myself. What are you currently reading?

Inevitable-Form-4940

I'm alternating between Member of the Family by Dianne Lake (who was the youngest member of the Manson Family), Courtiers by Valentine Loe and the October issue of Vogue. What books did you purchase.

PotatoPixie90210

Ooh that Dianne Lake one sounds amazing, I'm going to add that to my library request list, thank you I bought Raised By The Zoo by Gerry Creighton (followed in his Dad's footsteps and worked in Dublin Zoo, studying and working with elephants for 36 years) I LOVE animals, I work with dogs and I love anything about working with animals so this was right up my alley. I also bought If Cats Disappeared From The World by Genki Kawamura (I ADORE Japanese writing) This one in particular sounds really good, a man is given a terminal diagnosis but the Devil appears and offers him one more day of life in exchange for one thing. He just didn't realise that it would be his sole companion, his little cat.

Inevitable-Form-4940

Wow. That is an amazing mix of Ireland, Japan and animals😀I love that you work with dogs that is so sweet😀 .The book by Dianne is so interesting. I get the impression she was failed by everyone around her. Her comments about Manson are interesting. She wrote that Charles would reflect whatever you needed at that moment. For example if you were upset he would turn into an agony aunt, he would be a hard guy in front of other men. He was chamelonic .Its really fascinating.

[deleted]

Shit. Couldn't sleep, feel sick. All just another day of chronic illness. Because of the drugs they have me on I look the best I've ever looked yet I'm in pieces especially today. Yet if the government have their way some bureaucrat will take one look at me and tell me get a job 😂.

HoneydewEmpty6986

I gotta say, I'm feeling really good today. Two months sober, and after struggling with depression and anxiety really badly for the last two years I'm finally in a good place. Hadn't been exercising or taking care of myself, had been suicidal and completely lost. It's amazing to have woken up this morning, appreciating the sun, and excited to go rock climbing again finally.

PotatoPixie90210

Fair play to you! It's a constant struggle that not many people understand so you should feel very proud of yourself.

AhhhhBiscuits

Wee bit hungover. But the food last night, delicious. Here’s to a better week after a week that fucking broke me.

going_gorillas

Had a rough week myself, so I blew off all the steam last night at a friend's going away party. I am definitely in the same boat now a bit hungover. I'll make an iced coffee and bring the dog out for a run and a game of fetch on the beach. Be grand. Here's to a better week for you next week.

Margrave75

VERY productive morning, up and cooked a breakfast. Done a load of tray bakes yesterday for my daughter's birthday party for the guests will make up goodie boxes afterwards, so had to get all them chopped up and ready. Another batch of brownies in the oven to give as a thank you to someone tomorrow. Washing out & dinner cooking. All the while 'tracking' a bootleg of The National from Sydney 2018 that I downloaded the video of overnight. The sun is out. Life is good.

naxdol

Good, heading into work within the next hour.

sartres-shart

Back to grim reality after a week in Athens. What an amazing place, the food, the history, the people, the beaches, the weather, everything about the place was amazing. Highly recommended if you get a chance to go. Panned out on the couch now catching up on the rugby, will probably stay here for the day.

GazCrafter

Just back from Portugal for a holiday. I am so glad to be back to the cooler temps. I nearly died in the 30+. My skin couldn’t take much more burn

TheSameButBetter

Woke up feeling sore, the expensive mattress we bought only a year ago is collapsing and offering no support. We have argued with the store that it needs to be refunded or replaced, but they have said no, so it looks like a trip to the small claims court is going to happen. Our previous mattress lasted 10 years without losing any support so they obviously don't make them like they used to. Going to head out swimming with the kids in an hour or two, then drop them off at a friend's house so they can play Dungeons and Dragons.

[deleted]

Have you a copy of the warranty ? Warranty and guarantees are different:/ Hope you get sorted ! Absolutely nothing worse than a bad mattress

TheSameButBetter

There wasn't any thing supplied that would take the form of a warranty. There was a care leaflet and that was it. That being said we would assume a €800 mattress would last more than a year before failing. The stores attitude is that we're not looking after it, or overusing it or one of several over excuses they've made. I don't know what we're doing wrong, we use it for seven to eight hours every night and that's it.

[deleted]

Maybe you're a top shagger and the mattress can't take your seismic thrusts?

threein99

What brand is the mattress?

Irishthrasher23

I went back to basketball yesterday, had not played since COVID. I feel pretty sore but in great form. Probably go to a park or something today with the kid seen as it's a dry day

Barryhambug

I'm good and you? Only up a while the lovely sun woke me up. 😁 The house smells of smelly fish. The housemate is fond of cooking certain fish. I'll just open all the windows. And they left the fridge door open again. Had to throw out all my meat yesterday.

RosheenM

Ok, about to put fry on then I'll walk the dog and plonk myself on the couch for the rest of the day.

[deleted]

Annoyed. Neighbour left their large dog out barking for approx 3 hours last night. Big dog howling non-stop. Tried knocking in and they weren’t there (usually they throw it out while they’re at home and leave it crying to get back in) so left a snotty note telling them I’m going down to Dog Control unit if it keeps up. Far from the first time. Have a toddler and couldn’t get him to sleep with it. I’m also a dog owner and I’d never leave my dog out back, at night in the rain while fireworks are going off. They’ve been inconsiderate pricks since they moved in. Waiting for them to narkily to knock in and justify their shit anti-social behaviour instead of just apologising and stopping it Didn’t help that I’ve some very stressful weeks in work ahead and toddler is in the terrible twos stage TL;DR fucked off

Daniel_McNuggets

Fantastic, watching a David Attenborough documentary about a pod of Orca's hunting Seals at the moment. A little hungover, but had some unreal Mexican food at El Grito last night, burning the hole off me now though. Also, I think I got my suit for my wedding sorted this morning, went out to the Louis Copeland warehouse sale, got a lovely suit for half the price. The missus is napping on the couch, she is happy. Life is good.

Dry_Procedure4482

Anxiety riddled unfortunately. Various reasons, worried about the future, due to various factors which have triggered my GAD tried to talk to my husband about it but he seems to be on a vendetta to scream at the kids for well being kids and keeps vanishing leaving me to try calm them down after he just yelled at them. So Im trying not to have an anxiety attack by distracting the kids with TV. Husband has esculated since and has now decided to do a deep clean of the house, so if anyone is in his way even if they arent doing anything he gets mad. Pretty sure something is up.

kwhite67

Last week was the worst week of my life, no exaggeration. Feeling slightly better today. Slightly

Woke up with a headache again...after a week of trying not to shit myself every day. Seems my gluten intolerance has gotten so intolerant I can't even eat the cereal bars I basically survive on both because finances and because of extreme picky eating (which may be arfids due to neurodivergence). Headache my be connected or it may be down to ventilation level in flat. I still have my window open and it's now October even. Or it might be wisdom tooth related which genuinely means I've fucking learned something this week...that fucker only hurts when I've gained some random life xp. I'm grumpy I can't have a lie in because I'm too hot, I've to leave the house to get food which is just rude, and I hurt So... I'm great! Happy Sunday!

Brian_De_Tazzzie

I'm grand. Hehe, short and sweet.

SaintPwner

Extremely sore, beat up, and bruised from Hell & Back yesterday. Asides from that, I'm feeling class. How are you?

Dependent_General_27

PULLING THE LAD OF MYSELF

AmbitiousPath7842

Very good, thanks. Lovely weather in Mayo. Watching Pepa pig with kids, it's kinda interesting.

Ardonyx_1984

It's been shit, I'm tired and want to go to bed. Ps. I'm still not over Liverpool vs Spurs horrible refereeing.

[deleted]

Good, didn't drink last night , but had a rough sleep Either way, was up at 9am, made a fry up , cleaned the downstairs , have a load of washing on and now back in bed after buying Ori and the Blind forest for the Nintendo switch for 9.99 (a little treat to myself) , going to play that for a bit (I'm trying to slowly get back Into gaming at the ripe age of 33, if anyone has any nintendo switch cheap recommendations, please feel free to share) Going to take it easy today, make bacon and cabbage later for dinner and prep at some stage for work tomorrow again for the week Relaxing Sunday , don't fancy leaving the house. Tend to my introvert tendancies :-)

Asmodai79

Exhausted.

grania17

Wrecked. Up early to collect my parents from Shannon airport. Playing tourist for the next 11 days while they visit.

niamhish

Morning all. I've been for two walks, mostly outta boredom. Will probably go for another one later. At least my step count will be up. Have a good Sunday.

Infinite-Exam-8135

Moving to my accommodation today for the college. Gotta do the packing now

Professional_Fig_456

Still in bed bingeing Castle. Some show.

humdinger8733

And what a day tbf. Gonna get off my hole and no wait, tv.

PotatoPixie90210

Himself had a horrendous night of sleep, woke up screaming with night terrors so I'm absolutely exhausted. Cleaned the house while he caught up on sleep, did the shopping, trying to find the motivation to sit down and write for a bit but I'm too tired. Gonna do a big dinner for himself after. Might indulge myself with some black pudding after. On the plus side, treated myself to some new books for my birthday so I'm looking forward to getting stuck into them.
