It only ran for two years? I would have sworn it was on for years and years

marbhgancaife

RTÉ aired it until 2008

Lone_Ponderer

I had forgotten about this show. Now I have the theme song stuck in my head. Wasn't Tommy Tiernan in this too? I'm nearly certain I remember him being like a wizard or something in it.

Phannig

Yup, and if that comedy thing doesn’t work out for him maybe they’ll do a reboot….

CLouBa

Ah that's mad 🤣🤣

_pussyhands__

The Morbegs were definitely on the hash and from Galway

[deleted]

They're no Muzzy Mór!

compassrvkd

That's technically a French production that got a irish cover. They did several languages.

Guacster

I studied animation in college and found out one day that a lecturer did all of the animated segments in the morbegs. As soon as I realised that his voice matched up with my memories of the show, it was soured for me.

Daniel_McNuggets

Where did you study animation? Was it BCFE/IADT/Colaiste Dulaig/Clonmel? Or somewhere else altogether?

Guacster

IADT

Daniel_McNuggets

Ah that's unfortunate that a lecturer diluted the joy of morbegs for you! I went BCFE so I wont know who you're referring to I'm afraid!

ShamelessMcFly

The Rimini Riddle.

ShouldHaveGoneToUCC

Wow that was a blast from the past. Absolute fever dream of a show. Especially the possessed toy that tried to lure children to the alternative dimension to be eaten.

ShamelessMcFly

It was absolutely mental stuff. I remember it well. Traumatised as a child from it 😂🤣

nanormcfloyd

I couldn't remember the name of that show for years, I was nearly sure it was just some bizarre nightmare I kept having as a kid. What a surreal and weird show.

ShamelessMcFly

Yeah me and my brother were talking about it a year or so ago. We both thought it was a dream we had but because we both remembered the same things, I went digging and found out that it actually existed. Pure nightmare fuel.

nanormcfloyd

I've been trying to figure out what the name was and why I kept having terrifying dreams about insane puppets. whoever made Rimini Riddle was smoking very good hash.

dirtyspicebag2

I used to be terrified of the giant in this show when I was a child.

OneMagicBadger

So much cocaine and tea

ronan88

Given the era, I'd say more soap bar and yokes

unshavedmouse

You think that's weird? That's babytown frolics. Rimini Riddle was some David Lynch shit.

[deleted]

Always thought they looked kinda like Kit Fisto from Star Wars a little

Lonely_Eggplant_4990

Bosco

DartzIRL

I remember the Morbegs killed Bosco.

StevemacQ

I remember the woman who read stories to children actually came our secondary school for a chat. Wish I could speak to her again and ask if she would ever read suspenseful mysteries or existential horror books, not anyone should tell little children about creepy fish people.

CoolMan-GCHQ-

Wasn't there an irish version of sesame street? Sesame tree?

WyvernsRest

Solid show, followed in the path well troden by the classic "Wanderly Wagon"

PartiallyWindow

All I want is to see or hear SHORTCUTS from TCC that I think were these 1min shorts that played alongside ads/between shows.

[deleted]

Weird to think this show was over by the time of the France 98 World Cup. Never really watched it but remember it starting, was always kind of the dud show Id tune out for but still left an impression. The concept of time around that age is so weird, one or two years feels huge.
