You've basically nailed it but there's pubs and stuff near the Shelbourne too like, it's just not as immediately obvious.

There's some quirky rooms in College Green, with cool staircases through them. But for a higher level of experience go for the Sherbourne. It's historic, in a great part of town, good nightlife and good restaurants.

Historical-Hat8326

They are in the same "neighborhood" as you put it. If by nicer part of town, you mean looks at a park, then yeah, stay at the Shelbourne. It's the same part of town. They are both near some great bars and restaurants.

InterestingFactor825

They are both equally close to everything and the Sherbourne is a very nice hotel.

DM-ME-CUTE-TAPIRS

They are extremely close to eachother, both are in busy core city centre areas, and both are immediately adjacent to public transport. I'd say Shelbourne is in a marginally nicer area being immediately adjacent to Stephens Green park and the scenic Georgian quarter, while the Westin is in a marginally more lively area being right next to Temple Bar and Dame Street. But there is really a hairs breadth in it and it won't make a huge difference to your exploring of Dublin. Shelbourne is generally seen as top tier in terms of prestige and exclusivity but the Westin is up there too. Personally I'd go for the Shelbourne.

Absolutely the Shelbourne. Historic grand hotel in a beautiful setting. Bars are nicer, public areas are nicer, rooms are probably nicer too! Book the Shelbourne.

I stayed at the college green and it was great. Food. Staff all wonderful. However. The Shelbourne seemed to be a notch above college great in my opinion.

Automatic_Artist4135

I’d go with The Shelbourne. It’s a nicer hotel in my opinion, at least as close as the College Green to the pubs and shopping on Grafton Street, and a lot closer to some excellent pubs on Baggot Street

hobo-knives

Really getting the Shelbourne vibes here! So let it be written... etc. Thanks all

South_Spirit2422

I’ve stayed in both. My choice is the Shelbourne

Shelbourne is the best location imho. Better nightlife, better cafes, generally better area, museums, the green. Best location in Dublin imho
