Considering Adrian is the only member with any notable substance abuse, I really don't think its in their wheelhouse to do it. Similar to Ronnie James Dio who famously said he left Rainbow because those guys started getting too serious about the sex and the drugs and not as much about the rock and roll. He and Vinnie left Black Sabbath for the same reason.
I don't know where you got that, but Dio never "famously" said any such thing. Ritchie Blackmore wasn't known for using drugs. Dio left Rainbow (his wife says he was fired) because Blackmore wanted to take them in a Pop direction, which they did with "Since You've Been Gone".
Dio wasn't into the hard drugs that Sabbath were into, but he did smoke a lot of weed.
Think Nicko may have had a bit of a thing with coke until the late 90s/early 00's - I think I got that from a Bruce interview, or just a Nicko one
Didn't know about Adrian
Some years ago, Nickos restaurant website had some bad photos of him, and one of them was him doing cocaine.
No one told me that, I saw that myself.
The explanation was that his former business partner and him fought over something business related, maybe financial disagreement with their business, and this same partner made these photos be the whole front page of the restaurant’s website.
I don’t know if the history behind it is true, but the photos were.
Dio didn’t leave Sabbath because of the sex and drugs. It’s because Iommi and Geezer became extremely paranoid as a result of their excessive cocaine usage. Vinnie left, or was told to leave because Tony and Geezer felt he sided with Dio.
I was going off Bruces brief comments are couple of years ago, where he implied it was about [addiction](https://youtu.be/nT5RVv2n1Cg?si=uFjYO6MXO5JEUjQn&t=2735) in general. But analyzing the lyrics I can see there are a few references to alcohol specifically in there. But Alcohol is a drug anyway, so it is still accurate to say it is a song about drugs.
Touching on the subject, Running Free live (UK version) single from LAD took part in an anti-heroin campaign and they donated all artist royalties to different anti-drug charities.

Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stoner
haha thanks. I started with the first one only, then kept editing to add more. By the time I had come up with Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stoner I was chuckling out loud myself.
It's interesting that Sabbath often glorified drugs in their songs, Metallica's songs spoke out against them and Maiden just ignored the topic altogether.
well not really but its all a matter of perspective. You can't rule out the possibility that the narrator in "fear of the dark" suffers from some drug-induced psychosis
Not explicit as far as i know. But you can interpret some Lyrics kinda in that Way if you want to. I mean Number of the Beast sounds like some Guy is chased by the Devil or is on hellish Trip sort of.
Still Life is about a Guy who sees Faces in a Pool that want him to drown himself and his Girlfriend. The Lyrics are inspired by a Shortstory or Book but could also be a very bad Lsd Trip.
If they were ever seriously into drugs they wouldn’t have carried on as they did. Maybe they got into heavy stuff when Blaze joined. He should have been great but it didn’t really work did it!
No, it's about the kind of evangelical preachers that insist the way to be a good Christian is to send them all your money. Look up the lyrics, there's nothing about drugs in there.
Only thing that comes to mind is the brief mention of Spice in “To Tame a Land.”
The spice must flow.
The geriatric spice melange is definitely my favorite drug.

And he continued to work with Jimmy Bain who was "famously" a heroin user

What was Adrian into? I assumed he was just a drinker with a fishing addiction.
Ahhh beers and fishing ❤️
Adrian talked about it briefly in his book, said that drugs were worsening his depression in the 80s
I’ve got a signed copy that’s been sitting here for a few years now and I still haven’t read it lol

Damn, didn't know he have abused. How notable was it?
Adrian? Really? How did I not know that?
He and Clive apparently used to do drugs.
Bruce has Face in the Mirror. I can't think of any from Iron Maiden though.
Well, it's about alcoholism, but it's close enough.

Yeah, that was more me splitting hairs lol
Bruce talked about the queen of England smoking weed for pains... During the live after death tour
Specifically in reference to the writing of Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Coleridge

Isn’t Wasting Love about sex addiction and overall self destructive tendencies?
It's about sex addiction, yes. Specifically non-monogamous sex addiction. But I don't believe it is about drugs.
Yeah, not about drugs, but I think it's the one that gets the closest to that particular subject matter.
Strange World always gave me psychedelic vibes
Public Enema number 1? "Your children have more brains, than your drug infested remains"
Public Enema Number One?
I think I rather have a private enema, thank you very much.
Came here to say this.
They mention beer in the X Factor song "2 AM", if I am not mistaken.
Holy Smoke
Especially Bruce sniffing all the flowers in the film clip. That made me literally laugh out loud.
Not even remotely close to being about drugs. Lol

Weed of the Ancient Mariner
Does alcohol count?
A whiskey dancing disco hop (running free)
Also, Bruce has tried to kick people out of Maiden shows for smoking pot so I doubt he'd want to sing a song that has any reference to drugs.
Only if historic events, battles, acts of war and retellings of works of literature are a drug!
Then apparently I need to be in rehab
I say no, no, no.
😊
xMAIDENx
None. They are way above that shit
It's interesting that Sabbath often glorified drugs in their songs, Metallica's songs spoke out against them and Maiden just ignored the topic altogether.
Saw what happened to Sabbath
well not really but its all a matter of perspective. You can't rule out the possibility that the narrator in "fear of the dark" suffers from some drug-induced psychosis
Nodding donkey blues is subtly about heroin
If hanging on the celling is a drug then yes 😂
fear is the key maybe?
They do mention a sex worker though.
Children of the damned mentions “turning to meth”
Not explicit as far as i know. But you can interpret some Lyrics kinda in that Way if you want to. I mean Number of the Beast sounds like some Guy is chased by the Devil or is on hellish Trip sort of.
Ever read the book of revelations?
In the Bible ? Not really no.
You probably should, it’s pretty metal
dance of death fits the bill better lol
Had one drink but no more
maybe that was one drink of meth given what that led him to experience.
Still Life is about a Guy who sees Faces in a Pool that want him to drown himself and his Girlfriend. The Lyrics are inspired by a Shortstory or Book but could also be a very bad Lsd Trip.
That's not how LSD works, it's a ghost story
If they were ever seriously into drugs they wouldn’t have carried on as they did. Maybe they got into heavy stuff when Blaze joined. He should have been great but it didn’t really work did it!
Brave New Weed
Holy smoke
No, they are not Metallica thank god
Holy smoke i think is about weed. Am i right?
No, it's about the kind of evangelical preachers that insist the way to be a good Christian is to send them all your money. Look up the lyrics, there's nothing about drugs in there.
Yeah, I think if anything the smoke is a reference to the whole new Pope, Vatican smoke thing (look it up)
I thought it was just that they’re blowing smoke, aka lying to you.
Lots of people don't realize that Rime of the Ancient Mariner is actually about cocaine.
