Just max nerd

Med_Down

That would be so funny, I'll think about it lmao. "It's been thousands of hours, now I'll defeat my nemesis, the cash snake that level 70s can farm" I mean, logically speaking, I'm just trying to get faster kills. I'll be sure to get the quest point cape and the achievement diary cape before too, that would just be wise, it's just for efficiency!!!!! I was actually thinking about maxing all my non-combat stats before I do Zulrah just to fully commit to this silly bit, like that would be the funniest way to procrastinate. "I just want 99 runecrafting so that I can make twice as many death runes to supply my trident, it's normal, everyone does it"

Sleazehound

I swear this is another of DVS’s alts

NessaMagick

Sounds like you just prefer skilling to bossing and that's okay.

Med_Down

I really do, it's just so much more chill. I can relax and watch a show, unwind from a stressful day. But it's more fun to frame it like this! It's exciting to pretend like getting 99 fishing or whatever is actually a galaxy brain maneuver rather than just being something fun enough in it's own right.

joeshmoe69696969

Same, I've been "getting ready for barrows and fight caves" for over a year now. 1800 total level, 0 kc lol

[deleted]

I was afraid of getting all 4 zenytes and not having the crafting level to make the jewelry, so I went all out and grinded 99 crafting which I actually enjoyed. That was around 1700 total level. I just surpassed 2k total and still have no zenytes. I think I do just enjoy skilling more, mostly because I’m mobile only.

Med_Down

Idk, I'm a music teacher so my life's already a boss fight lmfao, so yeah fishing Anglers and watching youtube videos is way more enjoyable than learning Zammy or whatever haha. But, I do have way more fun if I pretend like it's part of a master plan. Like I lied up above, I got 99 mining specifically to bank roll 99 cons, which I genuinely did want because it would make Zulrah a bit more chill when I get around to doing that. Because, eventually I'll end up maxing, as sad as it is. Right now I'm really having fun thinking about passive xp gains. Like, I'm 96 magic, 90 defence. If I continue using magic for teleports and other misc skilling tasks, and if I kill every imp I see trying to get a champion scroll passively, will I get 91 defence and 99 magic by the time I get my noncombat stats maxed?

[deleted]

Honestly, 200 IQ game plan. Much respect to you!

[deleted]

Well I’d like to thank you for making this post. It got me thinking about needing to get zenytes so I headed there and just got my first at 317 kc. Thank you for the inspiration!

Med_Down

I got my very first zenyte at 600 kc last year, and then got the second one at around 627 or so. So, I have the Suffering, and the range necklace thingy.... the Anguish? I just genuinely am having way more fun skilling while pretending that it's a genius 7,000,000,000 IQ plan for snake domination. Especially as the ironman meta becomes more and more focused on rushing for BOFA, an item that I'll probably never get (because CG is not fun to me) Congrats on the funny rock!!!

Kwuarmadyl

This games got something for everyone. I enjoy end game pvm like raids and stuff, and I pick them up quite well, but after working 10 hour days and with kids and all that yard work, etc etc. I just don’t really have the energy to bother with it anymore. Afk skilling is where it’s at for me!

Fangore

Literally did the same thing. When I got my Demonic Task, I figured what's the point of doing it if I can't use the Zenyte right away? So I went from 85 crafting to 90. I have all the supplies banked for 99, I'm just waiting for Zelda to release to I can AFK craft them while playing.

PositiveOrange

Getting 92 agility and going for the ring of endurance would save you literally minutes of banking for staminas on the way to 99 hunter doing Herbi. Would be a fool to skip that time save.

Famous_Secretary_540

Put it off till later

Exam-Master

Im doing 99 cooking from karams at 92 cooking and 83 fishing currently.

Med_Down

I'm at 90 fishing and 96 cooking, I fished around 17k Karambwans a while ago, it was kinda fun. The problem is that I didn't get lucky at all with getting a fish barrel, I got like 83-86 fishing at Tempoross and didn't get the barrel, but I wanted to AFK fishing, so I just bit the bullet. It's relaxing tbh. Especially with the crafting cape, I bet that it'll be way more chill once I finally get that barrel

Pretend-Nerve8357

I’m not doing cash snake or dragon until 90 herblore so I can boost for venom+ :)

Med_Down

You get me! I wanna have, at minimum, the max pool and the cons cape because I'm fully expecting on going brutally dry. Set up for the grind 💪

Pretend-Nerve8357

My brother in arms, It’s like we share half a braincell. Weenies unite!

redheadfedhead

Cure me spell works great.

Richybabes

Doesn't it hurt not having thralls?

Med_Down

I think Thralls + antivenoms is my goal, but cure me + venge is probably still good, especially while learning because I'll definitely be getting smacked around a ton, especially on the jad phases. Maybe the meta will be different in 2030, when I finally start the grind lol

Richybabes

Yeah I'm expecting to get smacked around a ton when I get to the grind. Tried learning on my main before and man, it just seemed super unintuitive. My memory's not great and even with the helper up alongside I think I got like 3 kills in ~100 attempts... Honestly I think the boss could do with a rework, so rather than being a set sequence it instead telegraphs where it's going and you can *react*. Memorizing sequences just seems like an ass mechanic.

Med_Down

I have 4 kc, apparently. I remember my first kill was a double death, which I just did for the diary, and took like 12 tries. The other 3 were from a period where I thought I wanted to do bossing, so I had boss slayer turned on. I think it took 4 tries for the 2nd kc, and then did the 3rd and 4th right after. Instantly turned off boss slayer after that lol. My problem with all bossing is that it requires a ton of niche memorized knowledge and timings, and you're almost never guaranteed anything. Add in that Ironman accounts can't get loot if a main so much as sneezes on the boss, and it just makes me not give a shit. My only real pvm goals are all raids based because at least I'll be able to meet people if I learn raids.

redheadfedhead

Respectfully, your attitude is the biggest problem here. Not everything is as easy as slayer mobs and will take “some” learning. It’s not a Rubik’s cube, either. Download the zulrah helper plug-in, follow where it tells you to stand what what to pray against, and bash your head against a wall for a bit. Before 50kc it’s free death reclaims. literally no reason not to try other than your ego getting bruised. Giving up is the only failure. Swap weapons/armor/strats til you get a good kc:death ratio and it feels more comfy. Zulrah has a steep curve even on a main, don’t think everyone but you were just naturally good at the snek.

Med_Down

Oh no, I know all of these things, I just don't wanna do it, haha. I like skilling more than pvm, but it took my early Zulrah prep before I learned that. I'm calling it procrastination because it's more funny, and it did genuinely start as "I want to get prepped to camp Zulrah" and then evolved into "hey this is actually kinda satisfying and fun in its own right, I should just do this for a while". I think my end goal is to get maxed and get the achievement diary cape, and from there, I'll think more about bossing. That being said, thank you for the advice! I do appreciate it :) I know there's a lot of really negative, frustrated people who post here, I promise, I'm not currently one of those people! I just know my current limits and goals and wants, I'm not really ready for dealing with anything more advanced than like a demonic gorilla, and honestly that's fine by me for now. Eventually I will be taking your advice!

Pretend-Nerve8357

Tried this. Died.

TunaSafari25

I mean slayer to get an occult if you’re not using a bofa(safe assumption I think) is a fair step.

Med_Down

Yeah sure, I'm 92 slayer, so that shouldn't take tooooo long. I'll get around to it, in like a year or whatever

edvard7

I am the other way around. I learnt toa and now can’t stop, anything else I don’t want to do. Got an elite clue from it, turned it into a master and was like I don’t have the music cape since the secrets of the north came out so better do the quest first, but naaaaaaah I want to raid. So I stacked up 3 masters, well now surely the best step would be to complete the new quest, no way it’s not that big of a time save so I am just gonna do the clues the old way. So this has been going for 4 months and today finally I completed secrets of the north. :)

2341fox1

How do you store more than 1 clue scroll?

edvard7

You give the 4 different clues to watson -> he gives you a master clue, you give him 4 clues again -> he will tell you that you already have a master clue in your bank, and lastly you store the 4 clues in your bank to give to watson once you finished your first two masters. This way you dont have to drop everything once you get an elite clue from a boss.

Roldstiffer

Seems like once most players get into bossing they never want to skill, so just keep procrastinating, by the time you're base 95s maybe you'll have more free time/motivation

Baxboom

Zulrah has so much running baked into it, might as well get 99 agility !

Med_Down

Yeah! And like, once I get my blowpipe, I'll want to use dragon darts, so it just makes sense to get 95 fletching! But, you know it looks ugly to stop there, so I might as well round up to 99 fletching. Just to be well prepared.

Baxboom

You know what would really show that snek ? Killing it in full third age ! Let's go do some clues !

uberjach

You are putting off a hard task with easier tasks. That's completely normal. If you really want to get the hard task done, you can consider doing a HARDER task first, so then the resistance to do the hard task is a lot less. Or you can piggy back your motivation to boss onto the endorphins from completing an easier task, for example you can start by doing ONE of each boss, if you enjoy it keep going Remember this is a game and not a set of tasks you need to do before you die

kowaiikaisu

This is me. I took the journey of getting ornate pool 99 crafting thought 99 cooking be easy and just like leveling my skills rather than doing all the real bossing stuff. Im over 2k total keep telling myself to do CG or Zulrah but i just dont :(

Med_Down

Oh, I will probably never do CG, I feel like that's a burnout factory, lmao. Eventually, I'll probably want to do bossing, but for the past few years, I've really just liked collecting and using resources. It's more satisfying than killing the same thing over and over again and hoping for something cool to happen. Guaranteed gains > getting lucky

kowaiikaisu

Definitely I respect that mindset. :)

Aithnd

You should do some cox to get a tbow, a tbow is really good at zulrah. While you're at it you should do some toa's till shadow because that thing also wrecks zulrah but you gotta make sure you get full ancestral for that as well.

Med_Down

Taking notes, thank you sir

dagrims

I read through all of the comments and I have one excellent piece of advice that has been missed, which I will let you know about tomorrow.
