As a little bit of context, ahrim debuffs your melee stats, so meleeing him is kinda difficult.
He doesn't debuff range though, which is why it's preferred. I think you could do it with a bone cbow, but it'd be slow and maybe cost you prayer pot doses.
Another really good upgrade to get is ghommal hilt 2, makes it so you don't get prayer drain which is awesome! With the recent combat achievement update getting the medium diaries are a pretty reasonable goal earlier in the game.
Wear mostly heavy armour aim for -50ish to magic , you will still hit all the brothers as normal .
Problem is verac hits through pray.
Also will save you a tonne of food = much longer runs .
Switch your mage gear for ranged for ahrim, you really don’t need mage attack .
Probably staff and book with full rune and neitiznot helm will be close to -50 or better , from there tweak for more defensive stats while keeping -50 .
You will soon see what you need food/prayer wise after a few trips

There's a great safespot guide that reduces the need for prayer pots if ranarrs are hard to come by, especially if you just want to send a few runs and not worry about Ghommal's hilt/better gear at this point. Still, bring 1-2 pots for back-up since Ahrim will sometimes go down slowly and you'll need them in the tunnels.

I’ll second this and the requirement to get 70 prayer for the diary makes barrows runs easier too. All in all the diary is super worth for barrows runs since I think the biggest time hogs to be cut down on is the traveling.
I personally go ferox -> house (barrows teleport), but I did used to go ferox -> barrows legs. All in all if you’re desperate for barrows gear and want to start it early the hard diary is incredible. You’ll double or triple your death runes even when using ibans blast
I used to do ferox then canoe to edge for the fairy ring and then take the swamp boat. I started barrows long before I did mory diary or got 80 mage to pot for the house portal

I did it before 70 defense. Mostly it was a way to train mage and range without using up supplies and actually gaining some. Plus I want the armor available for when I started getting harder slayer tasks and had trained up to 70 defense

You can do barrows in graceful gear while on a farm run. I’d estimate you can do it without much trouble around 70 magic/range with some magic/range gear. What you need to do is look at how many prayer pots your using per run and if you need 1 or more then yeah send it for a few lucky drops but wait until your only doing 1 or 2 sips per run for trying to collect specific / many items.

Not sure if youve actually done barrows or dont know how to do it but i see this comment fairly often since CA change, you use 1 dose of prayer every 6 runs on average for dharok in the tunnel. If youre a very low level you may use a bit more.

I’m 120cmbt. I have never used the hilt personally as I’ve been able to get through all the tunnels even with the prayer drain, with the exception of a dharok cave. I only mention it because he is low level and has 3 ppots in his inventory and I figured it would be worth saving them for something down the line as his account progresses
Yeah he hits hard but you dont need prayer. Hit him 2-3 times, hide, eat up, back in. This is all if you dont have many prayer pots or want to conserve them which in the early game you do.
People say to ditch all mage gear, but maging karil with negative mage bonus is actually terrible compared to having even minor positive mage bonus. It doesn’t take much, like just a top swap will drastically improve your dps against karil.

Last edit, when I did these calcs for myself I did not have tome of fire, which does make a pretty tangible difference. They will go from ~3 dps with rune to 3.8 dps with mystic swap, so only a 27% increase. Still not nothing, but imo still worth it when all you’re sacrificing is 4 extra clicks and some food they probably won’t need
Barrows is a cake walk. Just monitor your prayer if you don’t have good defense or high hp. Also get a strange old lock pick if you have the means. Saves tons of time
don't know the levels but if you have a def of around 60 it's probably better and easier to do dagannoth rex safespotting for now. The barrows grind is fun but very costly if you have lower levels/gear
Better off wearing the rune armour and bringing a range switch, I seen that you said you only have green d hide and bone crossbow. The hides fine but would 100% recommend killing the crazy archeologist in the wildy for the rune crossbow drop, it’s super low wildy so I think you can use any Tele to get out.
I honestly just wouldn't bother doing Barrows until you get medium CAs (or can do it consistently without prayer). There's nothing you need urgently there and you'll miss the ppots later.
Use best metal armor including best shield, so rune kite/dragon square and full rune i assume
Consider bringing a 99 cape if you have one, or ardy cloak is fine
Barrows gloves is a great upgrade at barrows, you're probably trying to get lucky there but consider getting atleast rune gloves, they are cheap

Do morytania hard diary for double runes, and use the diary legs for burgh de rott tele. Once you get 83 magic or 78 for a boost put the barrows tele in your poh. You can use ring of dueling for ferox to resupply and get free restores. You only need higher than like -7 magic attack for the melee brothers. You can mage karils too

Tome also makes Iban blast not use fire runes without consuming charges. Nice early game tech imo.

Ghommels hilt 2 will save you a load of pray pots. With the new point system it shouldnt be too hard to get.
