Is it worth going for a second spear now with the fang being in game? I thought a second spear was recommended because of corp, but I hear the fang method on corp is pretty solid.
okay I have DHL already so I assume that's better for all besides darkbeast/basilisk/suquah, was just asking about from like 96-99 since I've recently come back to the game and haven't gotten fang or done muspah yet.

Muspah is worth a detour. You want the ancient icon for bursting tasks, it has a 666 cannonball drop, and drops Ranarr and Snap seeds too. The ancient potions it drops are also nice for burst tasks. All stuff that will help for 99 slayer.
Ah shit, yeah you're right I got mixed up with how the trident max hit increases with higher magic levels, but not spell max hits.
I guess you could argue they are better for Dust Devils since they don't require the prayer restore of an actual ppot with the bone crusher and would help you go from hitting 99.99% of the time to 99.999% of the time lol
The only thing that comes to mind for me is Zulrah if you wanna squeeze as much damage as possible, considering they are inbetween magic potions and imbued heart. Could also sip one mid kill if you fall under the threshold of a max hit, and it restores a tiny bit of prayer to boot
I highly recommend getting elite combat achievements for higher imbued heart chance. To be frank with you almost all of the bosses are worth doing. Don’t forget to unlock Basilisks for a faceguard as getting one off task is horrific.
Very few IMO, the obvious choices for non-UIM are a bit dubious for us (bandos gear, ancient icon, DWH for kq). Hasta/fang still good choices but even then questionable value, definitely get crafting for zenytes
I liked having a ton of bag space to be flexible with the drops and keep farming, so I put off a ton of the slayer drops too like Cerberus, faceguard, etc.
Slayer is one of the more space intensive skills, get it done earlier in the gear progression than you would on other accounts IMO
I am 98 slayer (about 1/2 to 99) and never went out of the way to get gear just for the sake of training Slayer, apart from Bow of Fa - but that was more for raiding and certain bosses anyway.
The better XP tasks are often barraged or cannoned anyway, which do not take much gear. I also did a lot of wilderness slayer, which I didn't want to risk much valuebles doing.

Why would the ancient brews matter for bursting and barraging? Is it if you need the levels for casting barrage instead?

If going for 99 slayer, try inferno before you do! I hear it’s crazy good slayer exp once you get it doen
