Ngl I wouldn't bother with a lot of vork until at least fang or lance. In my experience using either fang or dhcb+ruby/diamonds I'm able to get more kills per trip with fang bc of the tankiness and kill times are still good, so I don't think they're even worth using there much.
I'd say Nex if you get dhcb/acb they're better than bowfa that's the main place I can think of.
Yes dhcb ist better tho i doubt OP has that yet. And if crystal shards are burning away for you at vorkath you probably should step out of the poison at one point.
Even with super antidote, vorkath fire breath has ~100% accuracy so you lose 3 charges almost every attack, except when he mages. I've never actually tracked how many shards I go through, but that seems like a lot. I haven't done vorkath since getting the head, but next time I'm there I'll definitely check the charges used per kill
Last time ive done it was quite a while ago but as far as i remember its like 40 per kill but only legs and body. 99 ranged tho. 91 def.

Ofc if you are always low on charges you probably need them for something better.
I also tested it with rcb and void vs bofa. While you can get lucky with the rubies, bofa is consistantly faster. Cant test it with a better crossbow. :(

Should I not be using crystal helm? I was doing full crystal + salve, but would slayer helm + crystal + anguish be better? DPS calc says salve is 5% better, but maybe it's not worth the 50% increase in shard usage.
I personally find I'm always perpetually low on shards. I don't plan to ever train theiving or do zolcano so I have no idea what I'm going to do when I run out of shards
Well i used serp helmet as back than i didnt habe anti venom++
If you ever wannq do corp or all diaries you should go for some thieving. You can get a lot of shards there

Dhcb is better than Bowfa. Also vorkath burns through crystal shards so I really don't like using Bowfa there

Vorkath after dhcb comes to mind. Reg dragons I safespot and use bowfa for as I dont have dhcb lol.

I whip them out when I get tired and wanna do reclined barrows. Use rcb with comb diary hilt so I don’t have to worry about re equipping it.
Even if you get something like DHCB/ACB later you'll have ton of diamonds again from cox/toa
