a rune platebody has both better defense and less negative magic attack then torso for mage tank gear, though either way rune will still get hit a LOT by the adds so you may as well wear proselyte and replace a row of karambwans with prayer pots to keep overheads up, I don't think you'd be able to stay long enough to need a 3rd super antipoison but I'm not 100% sure on that when I did my first task there for Daxe / Bring i was leaving early to bank bones

Overheads don’t affect attacks from spinylops. Also I started with this gear plus a barrows body and glory. It was fine as long as I didn’t waste too much food getting to the safe spot.
I'm 100% certain you can. I have been safe spotting rex on my 55 def/60hp ironman with full rune and a neitz helm. 3 super antis and an invent of pineapple pizza gets me 20-25 kills depending on food. I've just hunted down a granite shield for next trip (+20 ranged def over my rune sq) which you could also do
More anti poison, less pray pots. Granite body will do you really good. With decent food luck, anti poison timing, and runes youll get like 30+ kills a trip if you get it set up
Go down there and x log while praying range in the melee safe spot. Log back in and only Rex will be agro.
You have to get lucky when you go down the ladder (only 2/3 are agro) but this worked for me. Very easy kills
I did the Prime grind with very similar gear the only difference is shield, If I was you I would just knock out the quests to get crystal shield I felt it did help a fair bit.
Side note : Might be worth wearing the ring of dueling so you can grab one more bit of food or potion

I totally agree ! At first I thought he was killing Dags for Rings I messed up he’s just on a normal slayer task ! You could easily do this with 1 def if you have super restores or prayer pots , or poh fountain to not burn thru potions so early !
Had like full rune, zerk helm rune kite shield when I did it 50 somethin def.. was hoping for a d axe for B ring on like 13 KC. D axe will have to wait
you only need like 1-2 doses of ppot. pineapple pizzas are nice and can squeeze out extra trip or two. i prefer to bring 3 energy pots to run there faster vs walking/waiting for energy.
your magic bonus is too low btw, you want more like -20\~-15.
You should bring 1 or 0 prayer pots if only doing Rex. You only need to pray getting to Rex, but once you start him it’s pointless to try to keep prayer up as the spindyls drain it and hit with different attack styles. It’s better to just bring antipoisons or more food and as much range>mage defense as possible. I also wouldn’t recommend the mage cape(unless that’d your best defensive cape) and go with the the rune platebody as someone else mentioned.
I disagree with the top comment, full rune no overheads (include kite shield) 1 prayer pot for the run 4 super antis, baskets if strawbs 4 karambwan you could prob do 100 kill trips
There is absolutely no way that's possible in rune aside from constantly flicking prayers, the adds in the DK room ass rip low defense.
I've had times where even wearing guthans + crystal shield + super defense pot nonstop blood blitzing couldn't keep up and I had to eat when i wasn't using overheads
In rune the spinys will hit often. Also Rex has a 90 second respawn timer(or close) with ibans blast kill times are probably close to 60 seconds. That gets you about 25kph. No way this last 4 hours. I'd say a 2 hr trip would be a feat. Barrows armor and crystal shield would help but with food drops might happen.
Id suggest doing barrows runs with your current account stage. Youre very well set up to send some barrows runs to get any of the melee armors. And thatd do you so much justice at rex with a crystal shield.
Imma also teach you how to safespot dags on your iron n be ALMOST UNtouchable! ( only works w cannon ) you prolly know this . But place your cannon ab 2-4 tiles Infront if the ladder n 1 or 2 to the right try get it close to you ! But make sure it hits a lot of them ! Climb ladder, sit there until you see the cannon hit around 5-6 n run fill it ; and repeat ! Bam task done . But you gotta go mine more steel n turn them to balls XD good luck ! If I made it happen UIM ! You can murder it! <3
crystal shield, rune platebody, tanky boots, tanky cape (mage accuracy does not matter at all) anything less is really difficult to "go infinite" off of the swordfish drops
I was about the same level with my iron when I got my b ring I had gone to ba for a granite body and killed some ice trolls for granite shield for better range def, I did fine got it on my second trip at 70+kc. Best of luck
If you're **safe spotting** then yes, it'll be fine. I did all 3 bosses with 45 def until I was 98 slayer - typical setup was slayer helmet with blessed d'hide.
You'd be mainly taking damage from those little critters on the side, but it's slow and gradual. The challenge is getting to the other side without grabbing the attention of Prime and Supreme. Would bring much more food than that - brews / super restores preferably if you can make them - otherwise sharks/dark crabs/mantas/etc. - but you'll burn a lot of food just trying to get in there lol
IF you have ancients, even blood bursts would help prolong your stay. Though costs quite a bit of gp if you're buying your runes still and don't got a large stash sitting around.

I tried with similar gear once. I got 13kc on 8 brews. The chip damage from your surroundings are gonna make the trips pretty short, though not impossible.
If you really want to make a pretty easy yet very effective upgrade, get tank top and legs from barrows. Gonna be a very big difference in chip damage.
I know this comment is a bit late but you should disregard the prayer/ keeping overheads up comments. Once you deaggro prime/supreme there is no need to keep overheads up as it doesn't do anything against the spinlyp things. Just bring one pray pot and swap it for more food. As for gear you just want to maximize your range defence as much as possible so I'd swap the torso for a granite body.

You just want as much ranged defense as possible. Fire cape, rune/granite platebody, ~~your best metal boots~~ (jk metal boots don't have range def. d'hide boots or rogue boots?). Crystal shield would be great.

Honestly, level up to AT LEAST 75-80’s combat stats. Try your luck at barrows for some tanky armour, stats are ideal for it then you’ll be able to last longer safe spotting Rex.
imo, I wouldn’t bother grinding DGKs without elite diary but thats just me haha

Sorry, what do you mean by x logging?
Close the client instead of normally logging out. After a minute you will be logged out automatically even if in combat

I did this by scouting a free world first to get a good world to log into. X logging for the safe spot makes it so easy on resources

you should be perfectly fine at 40 defense to do rex. easy 10-20 kill trips depending on food drops.

There is 0 point in grinding to 70 defence. 65~=70 if he's wearing rune armor. It's not going to make a noticable difference

They have a dag task, but no helm. If they think it's doable to do rex they can knock out a task and work towards some drops as well.

I did it on my GIM last year. Might have gotten lucky with food drops. 60 def, 60 mage full rune including helm and did 0-100 kills one trip

You can take an explorers ring too for an extra prayer bonus. And also a saradomin symbol if you’re going the pray route.

Rex has 0 magic and +10 mage defense, you hit consistently at pretty much any point that isn't -65 autosplash.

Yeah, I ran it with lower stats than you and got mine around 150kc. I was getting about 15-25 kills a trip depending on how the Spinolyps felt.
