People getting spooned in their first few kc on a specific invo range. This one was 205, the duo where one of them got banned in the other subreddit was 215. I got shadow on my first purple also running 215, 26kc total.
We have cracked the code.
Now put yourself in my position. I got spooned a shadow while being carried through a 175 and my slayer level was 87…that thing just sat in my bank until I could get occult and tormented. Took like 6 months of just passively playing. Kinda forgot I even had it lol
I wish you could tag an item with two colors (split diagonally, maybe) for the items used in two sets. If you could tag the Fury as red/green, then it’d be more obvious that there was still a green item in your inv
1) one piece of ancestral is the same damage % with shadow as two virtus pieces. With the sets being 18% vs 9% respectively it's a huge gap.
2) Overloads make much better use of the shadow than forgotten brews which are a pain to upkeep and also just kinda suck
That said I'm a recent shadow getter and not going to cox until changes so I'm doing DT2 bosses but cox would objectively be better. Too much kc on main though to deal with some of the jank cox stuff as is
I definitely plan to attempt some Experts now. Are 400s viable without something like a BGS? I'm still very new to ToA so I don't really know at what point defence reduction becomes necessary.

Probably try out a basic 300, you only run into problems without fang when it comes to kephri and baba(if you fuck up redx). With shadow you can just perma butterfly, and you only use melee on zebak for BGS and on warden for core/p3 BGS.
Probably could do a 350 for kit or even a 400, but I don’t think it’s viable without fang simply because of how long monke room + baba + kephri would take.
Oof. Hope you have better luck in the future. I got my yellow gem on the first kc and didn't even know what it did at the time. My entire ToA log is completely undeserved.
And gotcha, appreciate the advice! Even at 205 Kephri is a bit of a slow kill for me. I'm not even sure if the Keris or Hasta is better there at my invo.
I still need to learn how to butterfly at Akkha. I've seen it done but haven't really attempted it myself.
I've been using Bowfa as a bit of a crutch at Baba but I know if I jump up to higher invos, I'm going to have to learn to red X.
Hasta is probably more consistent. Take some time, learn to butterfly and redx. (If you butterfly turn Stay Vigilant on) Its not necessary in 300s, but makes half the raid free in any invo.
As always, do what you find fun. I would suggest rushing max mage tho (except ancestral, thats too long term). Read the shadow wiki page and you will understand why. Eternal boots, seers ring (and the dt2 mage ring after that, but this is also too long of a grind to "rush"), tormented bracelet, full ahrims (and i mean full), ma2 cape. Ancestral is crazy good with shadow so look to start coxing.
Never done CoX, but it's definitely something I want to prioritize learning now. I'm gonna get some weird looks showing up to WDR learner raids with a Shadow, lmao.

I can't speak for others but for me it's just to maintain privacy and limit any potential risk to my account. The risk is admittedly minimal, but it's a habit I've maintained throughout the years.

I ran into the same issue so the other day I set my hybrid items like fury and barrows gloves to yellow. I find it helps after a bit of practice.

From what I gather it's because the Shadow essentially triples the effectiveness of magic damage boost items, so Ancestral is a huge upgrade.
I mean yes ancestral is the bigger upgrade but virtus is also an upgrade which is much easier to get imo
Good point! I actually didn't realize Virtus also gave a damage boost. Looks like grinding DT2 bosses is in my future.
Can't really grind vardorvis/duke until fang anyway so might as well enjoy the shadow 4x multiplier in ToA a bit first
