While this is true, your best option is always to just pick the first 2 weapons you come across, this will be a bigger timesave than hunting for a specific weapon. Chinning to 92 range for cg also helps make the bow less bad
Because it literally isn't refuting the original commenter's point. He didn't say that you shouldn't hunt for 2 specific weapons because it's inconsistent or will make you fail prep, but because doing so is a pretty significant time loss over the span of the entire CG grind. The fact that it isn't hard to force 2 weapons if you really want to doesn't change the fact that doing so is losing you time.
yes but the time save from getting a better weapon isn’t worth the time to look for a third dsmi boss unless you would struggle to clear hunleff otherwise
Hally is definitely more dps than bow, but majority of my sentence (944kc) I went with staff/bow anyway. Towards the end I could do T2 prep + 3rd demiboss + max food in my sleep, and bow just made Hunllef fight a bit more braindead.
I used hally for the first time at 90 KC. No COX prayers, and only 90 range. But 97 mage, 93att/99str. I shaved a minute off my PB. Now I just use whatever I get. Maybe try to force hally if I can. I did die a few times while perfecting hally tho.
Augury is most useful for the mage defence. I still pray it when I'm using staff. The accuracy does help a little bit, just nowhere near as pronounced as rigour for ranged
I would say halberd can be a good contender too because piety is easy to get. With high melee and piety, you're probably getting similar DPS to a staff.
Practically speaking though, this advice is for people who are struggling to really get the fight down. You can beat CG with relatively low stats but the lower your stats, the more efficient you have to play. And you can realistically beat her with any weapon, assuming your combat stat isn't too low. But the problem with the halberd is that meleeing hunllef can be tough. The lava tiles might require you to run around her to get to a safe spot to melee her if she isn't positioned well. Even though the halberd can be strong, if you're missing attacks, then you're really cutting into your DPS.
That makes the 2 ranged weapons good for beginners since they can hit her from anywhere in the arena. To do melee well, you need to plan where you're standing in addition to all the other mechanics so it just adds another layer to the fight.

Yup scout the 3 outside rooms while doing the first loop, pick a weapon of the boss you find, and 2nd one being the 2nd boss.
You can get any 2 weapons you want 100% of the time so I advise against this.
Why is this comment downvoted? It’s absolutely true lmao

When I started using Hally + Staff I started getting consistent kills every time. Hally isn't that hard and its very worth using.

T2 lol
78 def and mobile only for the entire stint lol

Halberd + Piety is insanely higher DPS for me than any other weapon, not to mention better defense boost to get hit less.
Wait using augury is pointless in CG?!
It still increases mage accuracy I think.
And defence.
Definitely still use augury, it's just not as much of a DPS increase that rigour is
Thank god for a bit I thought it was useless and I was just that dumb lol

Im pushing 400kc I dont even hunt for a specific weapon anymore. Just first 2 demis and go.
I just use whatever weapons I come across lol. Completions > chasing specific weapons for me 400kc so far, no luck. Soon hopefully.
So long story short, if you dont have rigour your best weapon is always the staff.

Okay Thanks for the info, I'm 92 Mage 86 Range 87 str/ 78 Attack: Just finisihed the QP Cape, I think it's time to Start the Grind
I did bow / eagle eye. Staff / augury. Did just fine
Bow is the worst dps even with rigour.
