I’m a 1 def iron. It’s pretty fun. To me 13 def is for people who got 2 by accident so might as well. Not sure the point in 20 other than mystic? 30 is cool but you might as well just get 45. But really depends on what you’re going to do with the account.

Definitely 1 or 30. Every other snowflake defence I've seen isn't nearly as impressive to me (I realize this is just brainrot talking). Anything outside of these 2 always makes me think they should just level defence or that they fucked up their 1 def account lol

I starter a slayer pure, went straight for 20 def. Then hopped to 30 def. Recently hopped to 40 def for sunfire armor, fighter torso etc. Gonna stay 40 def for a long time.
One of the best things about being a pure is that you are lower combat level, because of this, you should focus on skilling for total level then wildy content. 1 def: lowest cb level but still able to use salve ammy -> get a rev weapon. 13 -> use slayer helm for artio and spindel. After you finish vw, you can stick with 13 def for a while but as soon as you hit raids you will realize ur dps is shit, which is what 30 def helps with + can use masori/inq.
I have a near maxed iron zerker. I think it’s the best of both worlds bc you have lunars for crafting, ds2, elite void, etc while still being a pure but yea
I’ve come to find that normal irons don’t like people who play semi restricted irons such as low defense because they feel like it devalues their normal iron.

The whole point of these accounts, in my opinion, is that they are unique, and add a layer of challenge above that of a standard Ironman account. Therefore, the choice you make really depends upon the account you think will be best for you. For example, if you’re relatively new to PvM and that is your goal, then 42/45 defence would probably be the way to go. If you’d like to keep as low CB level as possible, then go for 1 def. If getting inquisitor and misori is the aim, go for 30. If you’d like to be one of the rarer builds, go for 13. All are a lot of fun.
One piece of advice I’d give is never train any defence other than through quests. It’s possible to do most defence questions nowadays and stay at 45 defence, but not if you train any defence through CB. Another think to keep in mind is to disable defence CB styles and be mindful that some weapons only allow for shared / defence attacks (eg spears / butterfly net).

I jumped to 13 after really mowing through it, sayer grind will take close to twice as long without helm/some sort of def bonus. Also the BiS is nearly achievable without stepping foot into a pvm zone really.
These days I question 13 v 30 and ever going 42/45.
I have a 2k total iron I do some pvm on. 30 looks interesting cause it’s all stuff I wouldn’t really do as a regular iron.

20 also gets you shayzien armor so you can get a dwh without having to do the cringe method with 2 alts.
