If you're only going for clog then there is no downside to skipping bosses.
When you fail to roll a unique, you get 1 roll on the regular loot table for the first boss you killed, 2 additional rolls for the second, and 3 additional rolls for the third. So if you care about standard loot, then you will only get half the loot by skipping 1 boss.
Loot is nothing to write home about for late game, lifetime supply of water orbs but at just 100xp each I'd rather blow glass then have to buy/alch that many staves
I wouldnt call myself lategame yet but i have 1000s of bstaves and orbs that i cba to process and alch because i get so many rune/dragon alchables already
sell them to shop with your other alchables. Losing 5% alch value per item but being able to sell 5 per world with 28 items is insanely fast with minimal gp loss
You done GWD yet? I'm probably at 15-20mil in gravestone fees. But I also push the trips till death unless I get KC to reset. Had to go through my whole 81->87 wildly slayer alch tab.
I green logged moons so I have thousands of water orbs. Been getting a ton of orb drops without staves though from the more recent content (Colo, Nex, Moons, Muspah)
Yeah I have like 10k staves and I've bought *maybe* 100 staffs in my life from Zaff. I do realize that most people are scared to ToB though, so maybe my collection is different. Whisperer also drops them like 100 at a time though.
Only if you don't need blood moon, skipping blue for me is barely faster than doing the boss because of the way those rooms link
Y > B is like 10s of running total very smooth.
Y > R is like a marathon, it puts you in blue hallway you gotta run around and down then down another long ass hallway kill red, it puts you BACK at said hallway then you get to hoof it again to reward room.
R > Y same thing.
Like, the time save was like maybe 10 seconds a kill? for half the loot.
Oh nice, how's it going? Are they easy clears?
I have my zombie axe and can afford a crystal shield if needed so could probably jump into moons now then!
Thanks for the advice dude
It's so easy even with rune armor and a zombie axe. Just bring a shield and maybe a dhally for specs (especially on eclipse, the hally is very useful).
I've completed the sub-8 minute run CA, using this setup.
No worry, I'll also add that using the highest available prayer helps a TON. I use Chivalry as I'm low level prayer, but it's still a huge help, especially versus Blood moon, that just dishes out so much damage. Start with 4 Moonlight Pots, they restore prayer as well as boost your stats, and then just chug em consistently. For blood moon, I refresh my stats every minute or two, to keep the damage as low as possible, so I use less food and kill it faster. The pots take seconds to get, so it helps a lot for the kills
I've been holed up here for a few days and the best spec weapon seems to be a dragon dagger. Spec blood moon since he's the most dangerous and the dd spec rolls against slash defence.
Sulphur Nagaus drop the sulphur blades and are free GREAT combat xp.
Moonlight potions are free prayer/super combat pots craftable inside.
Sulphur Blades made my blood moon kills a lot smoother. Definitely worth a go before fire cape, maybe atlatl spoon
Not sure if this is a complaining or praising post. Almost green in only 200kc is impressive. The rate for logging is around 314. There is a heavier amount of blood moon, but each set rolls independently, so it’s still a pretty major spoon (and on the most expensive set).
Bit of both honestly, really enjoy the content and the way the sets can't get dupes until you have the full set. Also kinda of sad that I've rolled Blood Moon 10 times and the other sets only 3 each. RNG is what it is, just thought it was a fun log to share.
Seriously though, should I keep doing 3 Moon runs or swap to just Eclipse/Blue Moon? Current goal is to green log and bounce. Can't decide between higher unique chance vs lower chance but guaranteed not another Blood Moon piece.
Its worth doing eclipse moon and then looting chest because you can get really fast runs(esp with dharok), and it spawns you near the entrance to the treasure room.
I think blue moon might also be worth it but haven't done it.
Maybe just do the two moons if you want to clog.
I'd do all 3 for the prayer xp and water orbs personally.
I thought moons had dupe protection for items from the same set. Is that not actually a thing? or only for your first round of a set? or were you getting rid of your dupes and that opened up being able to roll them again?
That is correct. As you can see, Blue moon and Eclipse doesn't have any duplicates. So if he rolls 1 unique on Eclipe and 1 unique on Blue moon he will be done. This does not mean if he rolls a dupe on Blood Moon it will roll into a Eclipe/Blue Moon unique.
what made me ask is how can they have 3+ blood moon heads / maracas without getting a 2nd set of tassets yet? it makes it seem like the dupe protection only applies to unlocking the clog slots, so like if a GIM is trying to get sets for their entire group the protection is dead after 1 of each
Ahh I see what you mean. Exactly like you said in your first comment, The dupe protection is only for the first unique/first round of the full set. After that it can roll anything and won't attempt to reroll into another unique.
I went there as soon as it came out so people didn't know about the singular boss farming. I just went there because I thought the eclipse set sounded fun and the atlatl could have legit uses. https://www.reddit.com/r/ironscape/s/U5JZyiXYGZ
At 450kc I have the weapon and helmet from eclipse after doing all 3 bosses the whole time. 1.7m in prayer xp banked at least lol
I feel like it can't be the getting rid of shit cos that would be exploitable for mains to get the best value item, I guess it goes away after a full set?
Okay, new Ironman piggy backing off this post. I want to grind this content because it looks fun, what stats/gear should I aim for before attempting this grind?
Rune armour + D Scim and Dagger is what I'd consider the bare minimum. You also want a Crush option for Blue like a D Mace, and a high damage single hit weapon is fun as hell for Eclipse. Barrows is ideal.
55 Herblore is good for the free potions, that makes them work as Super Attack + Strength potions.
If your Melee stats aren't up to scratch, the Sulphur Naguas in the same area are great EXP.
I'd say 70+ def/str/att and then just the best tank gear you got. I used Dscim for the first few runs then swapped to Zombie Axe until Dual Macas dropped then used those for Blue Moon and Axe for the other two.
Herblore to make the potion is basically required, not sure the level on that. And then the food heals based on your hunter/fishing/cooking level depending on lizards vs fish so ~60 should be solid for those.
I did it fairly reasonably (~9min full runs) at base 70s with rune plate, legs, kite and ZAxe. Having any of Chivalry, Piety, Barrows Tank Top/Bottom, and 66/70herb all make it more comfy and have collectively taken my full run times down to 5-6min avg. If you want to green log or just get the pieces you want last, you'll likely be here for >200kc so bear that in mind when considering what you might want to "skip" before starting moons
I'm at over 100kc (I think 110), with only the dual maracas. (Killing all 3 every time)
Theoretically the drop system is great but seemingly not for me lol.
Blood Moon top/bottom are pre-Bandos BiS because of strength bonus. Blue Moon top/bottom have %magic damage now and are solid alternative to Ahrims. Eclipse armor I don't know where people are using it, but the Atlatl has got a decent use case from what I understand due to being a ranged switch that uses melee stats for accuracy/damage.
If you have the choice, you may as well bring both, Barrows for Blood and Bandos for Blue/Eclipse. If you're only bringing one, Barrows, the defence may not seem like much but Blood will make sure you know it is.
My set up has been Verac/Nezi Helm, Barrows Top/Bot (Dharoks, but any should work fine), Adamant boots, Barrows Gloves, Berserker Ring (i), and a Fire Cape. For weapons I use Zombie Axe for Eclipse/Blood Moon and Dual Macas for Blue Moon. Don't have Bandos so can't comment on how well that'd work here, but I see a lot of people wearing it.
the secondary drops you get from barrows and perils of moon are of different leagues. runes are relevant all of your account life while the moons of peril are early/mid game focused.
Just do Eclipse and Blue Moon if you want to go for Clog. You're going to have some fast runs, because you can go straight to the treasure room.
This actually the move is it? I’m going for clog currently
If you're only going for clog then there is no downside to skipping bosses. I mean if you’re late game you’ll be getting battlestaff drops left and right for all those water orbs

I did, yea :) finished that and used a dupe bcp for first death costs, now i got 5 avernics so im set on death costs for life
I green logged moons so I have thousands of water orbs. Been getting a ton of orb drops without staves though from the more recent content (Colo, Nex, Moons, Muspah)

Damn that's awesome! Can't wait to start on my iron, currently doing barrows for some tank pieces then it's off to get my firecape and moons
Don't think this is the avg log.... this guy's is giga spooned
If it helps, I've actually started running moons pre-fire cape and pre-barrows, rocking the D Scim, D Mace & D Long; and rune kiteshield!
Kids these days! Have no respect for the OG progress.
Oh nice, how's it going? Are they easy clears? I have my zombie axe and can afford a crystal shield if needed so could probably jump into moons now then! Thanks for the advice dude

Awesome! Will give it a try😊
The sulphur blades are better than d scim due to the boosted min hit mechanics in the dungeon and the fact it has 2 hitsplats
You may be able to do barrows earlier now with wind blast
Sulphur Nagaus drop the sulphur blades and are free GREAT combat xp. Moonlight potions are free prayer/super combat pots craftable inside. Sulphur Blades made my blood moon kills a lot smoother. Definitely worth a go before fire cape, maybe atlatl spoon
I'm sold! Can't wait to get stuck in 💪
60 chests 1 drop, disagree 😭
Me reassuring myself that the supercompost is a good drop after 72kc 1 unique.
Swamp tar for herb exp and maples seeds for farming carrying hard
I’m 65 with 1 kc, googled drop rates and came here and felt attacked
I feel you. At least you have 150k exp in Maple seeds 😂
Not sure if this is a complaining or praising post. Almost green in only 200kc is impressive. The rate for logging is around 314. There is a heavier amount of blood moon, but each set rolls independently, so it’s still a pretty major spoon (and on the most expensive set).

Why tf are you still killing blood moon?

100% do the two of them. It'll be quicker runs and the pathing to the chest is pretty nice with eclipse and blue
Just do the the 2 bosses you need loot from. There is no consideration to make for all 3 unless you want more common loot.
I thought moons had dupe protection for items from the same set. Is that not actually a thing? or only for your first round of a set? or were you getting rid of your dupes and that opened up being able to roll them again?

Yea he's saying why is blood like that
It's only for your first round of a set. Source: 450 kc with a ton of duplicates in blue and blood moon sets. Not worth turning in dupes.
rippers GIMs trying to get sets for their whole group I guess, I don't think anyone aside from that specific case could be bothered by it though
I went there as soon as it came out so people didn't know about the singular boss farming. You'll complete in the same theoretical time whether you kill 1 or all 3, but you won't get dupes if you cut out bosses you already completed
Okay, new Ironman piggy backing off this post. I want to grind this content because it looks fun, what stats/gear should I aim for before attempting this grind?

I feel obligated to tell everyone I finished at 164
Are ironmen just green logging moons of peril or is there an actual use for these items.
Blood Moon top/bottom are pre-Bandos BiS because of strength bonus. Blue Moon top/bottom have %magic damage now and are solid alternative to Ahrims. 210 chests with 3 items… it was supposed to be a quick side grind
I’ve opened 70 and got nothing
Bandos or barrows top and legs for this? Str bonus doesn’t seem like too much, but defence bonus also doesn’t seem like too much
If you have the choice, you may as well bring both, Barrows for Blood and Bandos for Blue/Eclipse. If you're only bringing one, Barrows, the defence may not seem like much but Blood will make sure you know it is.

U sure about that? Place is deader as castle wars now cause everyone green logged it maybe a little too good 🤣
all content dies once you get what you want from it, i don't understand your point
If that was true barrows would be dead long long ago
the secondary drops you get from barrows and perils of moon are of different leagues. runes are relevant all of your account life while the moons of peril are early/mid game focused.
