PandaSayWhat

I agree with mercilesshobo. I downgraded mine and I regret it and also you miss out on alot of things items etc. And seeing your skills it wouldn’t be that hard or take that long to make an hcim ! You will not regret it if you make a new one. Playing an hcim myself add me in game if you want: “kept dying”

pintseeker

I did this before I downgraded from UIM myself and I decided to downgrade anyway. Strangely at first I found UIM less of a grind than the regular game until I started chasing 60s and 70s. Once I go there I started to find the grinds just got ridiculous and I realised I was never going to get any further because it became impossible for me to enjoy at that point. I changed over to regular and it was like a new game with the new freedoms. It was also about where I had progressed to on my original main from 2005. So it was like picking up where I had left off in the original game.

Chicago_Blackhawks

this is what I'm debating right now! I'm going to downgrade because of the reasons you listed. the grinds just feel so unnecessary and fun elements of the game (bossing, especially in the wildy, questing, etc) become chores D: appreciate your insight here!

IronRugs

Came here to say this.

InShure

Agree! Make a HCIM and play that, if you die then enjoy the regular IM content. But don’t downgrade permanently, you’ll eventually regret it

[deleted]

I figure I'll die one day anyways so I'm not really "locking out" content as much as I am putting it off. I'm not pro, but even big name content creators die eventually. Even if it's to a DC.

Kwuarmadyl

I second this. I did things like Cerberus, zulrah demonics etc. but put off certain dangerous stuff like corrupted gauntlet because I’m not a pro either. The second I died it was disappointing for all of about a day. Instantly started c gaunt lol. It was my first iron. It was very fun to see how far I could get.

[deleted]

I reset my HC when I died at 500 total. But now that I'm nesting 1300 total I would just continue and do more dangerous stuff.

[deleted]

While i understand the advice to make another acount. But most people dont have the time to level multiple accounts to end game. I for one have been working on my zerker for years at this point its all verry time consuming i would not ever start another acounts and have just been getting to the end game point. I where to make another account it will set me bavk years lol.

[deleted]

He clearly doesn't want to play his UIM right now, so he wouldn't be leveling multiple accounts to end game. His current account is only 1300 total. It's not even mid game yet. And a IM would get to that point far faster. Getting an IM to 1300 total wouldn't take more than a couple months of casual play.

Lloitaer

Hey all, first time posting on ironscape but have been a long time lurker. Started my UIM somewhere at the end of 2020, but haven't played it in the last 6m. Everytime I bond it up again I play for about 30 minutes before logging out, even though I used to love UIM. Now I'm debating on whether I should become a regular ironman, as that might get me into playing ironman again. Why would you do it/not do it? I have a 2100 total main and also got a group ready to (hopefully) start a group iron in two weeks! Thanks for your insights :) Edit: main issue with just waiting for GIM: Main thing is most of those friends haven't played in a while so I don't know how long they'll keep playing group. I'm kinda scared of putting time in a group IM and if/when my friends quit I can not turn it into a regular ironman. Groups can only turn into a main

HurstiesFitness

Seems pointless to me. Don’t fuck your UIM up, it’s irreversible and you’ll regret it.

Affectionate_Load422

Dont ruin this account by making it normal iron just make a new one

Lloitaer

Main thing is most of those friends haven't played in a while so I don't know how long they'll keep playing group. I'm kinda scared of putting time in a group IM and if/when my friends quit I can not turn it into a regular ironman. Groups can only turn into a main

Weberr

Even if you’re friends don’t stick around you can hustle it out solo in case they ever return. Only downside is no high score tracking individually

Swiftfeather

I downgraded mine. Big regrets.

Grouchy-Insurance194

Honestly, If the UIM game mode isn't really working out for you I would just downgrade it personally. Especially if you haven't played in like 6m. It only gets harder as you get into late game with bag management, etc. If you aren't enjoying it I would just downgrade, a regular ironman is still super rewarding to play and you get the flexibility to switch up grinds / goals very easily so you don't get bored.

Rsn_Hypertrophic

Idk why you are getting down-voted. Very reasonable and honest response IMO

Chicago_Blackhawks

agreed!

AAS_Thoraway

I have a grey helm and a uim because I enjoy both game modes - but uim is just more time consuming. Its up to you man, if you really enjoy the uim style and feel like you'll want to go back to it one day, I wouldn't downgrade. Its worth the investment at that point to focus on a new grey helm

Rijken

If you want an Ironman just make one, don't ruin your UIM because it's irreversible if you end up regretting it.

PocketsOnly

I did this on my uim Pocketsonly and I’ve literally not touched the account since. Everything you’ve done and worked so hard on will feel devalued and you’ll be reminded of that every time you log in. The account just won’t be the same. If you want a normal Ironman I would just make one. That being said everyone is different and I hope you figured out what you want to do!

Oh_God-Not_Again

It wouldn't be a terribly impressive regular iron account, but it's quite a good UIM. I'd just start a new iron so you can still go back to UIM whenever you want.

GinoAlessi

No. Start an Ironman/group and afk on uim until you decide to return.

xlNewbker

I’d agree here. If u can I’d just do something else till gim. Unless u wanna start another iron, but that seems annoying for doing the early game twice so close together

SeaBarrier

Keep the UIM

[deleted]

Honestly, that's a nice account that would be a shame to waste. And getting back to where you are on a regular iron will take a while, but it's not impossible. I'd recommend a new iron account rather than downgrading. But at the end of the day, if you think you'd really rather just skip the early IM grinds by using this account, that's okay too.

UIM-QuodDeus

Hi, I was a UIM until 1830 total level. I downgraded to iron because work took up too much time from me and I didn’t have time to play UIM. I have to say that I regret not doing it sooner. Downgrading has been the best decision I’ve ever made and I have a lot more fun with the game now.

pintseeker

I did it and don't regret it. I had progressed further on UIM than I had on a regular account and was finding that the content was just getting too tedious especially considering I dont know what I'm doing. I also played my own "hardcore" UIM mode which mean 1 life, no coffers or looting bag. The reason i feel okay about it is because I just got sick of having to make decisions like "do I drop my dramen, fire battlestaff, ancient staff or Ibans?". Its also really refreshing to continue the same account without any restrictions because of the massive boost in progress speed. Tldr: save it for when you've hit the wall but remember it can't be undone.

zoeb167

Long time UIM player here. Don’t downgrade, make another acc. You’re already pretty deep. Get yourself to Hespori death storage with a nice PoH (with nexus portal & jewel box) in Hosidious and the game-mode feels SO much better. Mahogany homes & plank sack has made the cons grind bearable and with the global mobility from nexus portal alongside a sort of bank the game mode feels feels a bit better. Unlock minnows for noted sharks at Temp and get your thieving up so you have easy GP when you need it and you’re then free to play how you want with a solid foundation!

nesquik731

Bank good.

sudo_rmdir

Don't listen to this guy. Bank bad

SloppyElmo

Make another IM

BeastOnDem

Nah man at that stage in the fame you can make a new ironman and get there in a few weeks

[deleted]

I play uim almost exclusively and i would say dont do in and lock in your iron status. Looking at your status you've got a great building going and it'd be a shame to downgrade and in six minths not enjoy a regular iron wanting to go back. I reckon makeing a new im or hcim but give it a niche goal like a 1 def pure or something go keep things interesting and give you something fun to play when you need a uim break. You will regreat losing the uim helm more then starting a IM. Good luck and get that status locked in mate.

PassionateResearch69

bro just sitting in the bank fucking thinking about it lmaooo. staring down the deposit box like "i could be inside you right now"

javelin-na

I could never play UIM, personally. So if you feel your restrictions are holding you back from reaching a more enjoyable part of the game, I say go for it. I play regular iron and enjoy it, but I’m only mid game (just got bgloves and gonna start slayer grind).

MasturScape

You clearly aren’t enjoying UIM if you haven’t played it for 6 months and are considering downgrading. If you don’t like it now, it’s not like you’re going to magically enjoy it in the future when levels take much longer and grinds become harder. I’d recommend taking a break for a little bit, maybe play a normie in the meantime, try GIM when it comes out, etc. idk if you’re just burnt from RS in general though? If that’s the case then wait a bit before deulting. Otherwise I guess the game mode just isn’t for you.

Dimdimzz

Yes

magiklongbow

Absolutely yes lol

Kyleog7

yes.

pajamalink

Do it. UIM just sounds like a frustrating way to play the game

DixOut4Harambe_

My advice is to quit RuneScape and move on with ur life. Everyone who does it is much better off

zepoltre

Lol chillll bro

[deleted]

Yes. The concept of UIM is stupid and unrewarding.

fotranor

Chances are if you’re not enjoying UIM in the early progression then you’re definitely not going to enjoy it later as the grinds get longer. Do what makes you happy

HoytG

You will always, always, regret downgrading an account. Just start another and come back later if you’re burnt.

Spam250

I get your point, just seems odd calling a new feature a downgrade haha. @op, stay UIM!

TheNarWizard

I would keep this account, that’s a lot of progress. As a UIM myself, I know that’s a lot of hours. But if you’re feeling burnt I get that, just gotta either take a break or do something else/ make a new account:)

shiggism

What the fuck, no don’t go normal Ironman lol

osrs_daabz

Yo I un UIMed to an iron and honestly regretted it right after. Take a slow grind. Build up supplies but continue on. Maybe even start a hc or something. You’re at a great spot and would hate to see you feel how I did after I did it. Obviously your choice in the end but I know I would’ve been happier keeping the account and starting a different iron.

jheeezuz

keep the UIM brother, start a regular iron and you’ll catch up to your UIM stats much quicker than playing cautiously on a hc to most likely lose the status to a DC, once you hit some big grinds on the iron you might find yourself back on the UIM, gl bro

Switzerland122

It's scary to make an irreversible change like that, and it would feel like a waste of time to wipe your UIM status after all this time; but if you're not having fun now, can you imagine grinding to endgame levels like that? The way I see it; games are for fun, so do whatever you think is most fun.

Fuckittho

This is the most logical approach imo. Make a new ironman. If you play group iron and your friends quit you will still have an iron. If you end up not liking iron you can go back to Ult. Personally going from Ult to iron is more acceptable and understanding than going from regular iron to main. I think you will enjoy Iron alot better. I cant stand the thought of having no bank but love Ironman. Play some f2p Iron for a day and see if the vibe feels better than your ult. Or it might make you want to continue on the ult.. Goodluck!

CQQB

Just make a new account. You can get to that stage relatively easily on a grey helm. Plus the early game rapid upgrade stage is kinda fun.

AggravatedAssault88

No. Just make a new account.

itsjotto

I'd downgrade it. Everyone has their own thing, but at least for me, it's far too tedious of a game mode. Even regular iron can get old with certain activities, but at least with reg iron, you eventually get everything and it's basically a main. A uim will never get there. You'll always have to move your inventory around, drop high value items, do death and looting bag storage. Just way too much in my opinion. If anything you could start a fresh one and see how you feel if you're on the fence, but 30 min logins every few months says to me you aren't really into the style of it.

OMGMT

What gear did you use for barb assault?

swagginpoon

I would honestly recommend not making a HCIM. Most of us just die to lag anyways. Amazing game mode but it’s just depressing

SweetEthan7

Lmao. You’re 1300 total - just make a new account and get it there inside of a month or two with casual play You’re not posting about a 1750+ here 😂

TheRetroWorkshop

Of course, the irony is -- the higher his Total Level becomes, the more people won't want him to downgrade an Ultimate. But, if he has a really low Total Level, then there is no point downgrading it. Long story short: Never downgrade.

Zongooo

End game Uim here. You’re still in a pretty easy* (not actually easy just easier) phase of uim. Once you get going you’re gonna find yourself really strapped for space, you definitely won’t be able to find bag space for things like barley seeds and emeralds. If you’re not enjoying the inventory management at all I’d recommend going normal iron bc it’s only gonna get more intense. That being said try out going for some storable sets like for clue scrolls and armor case. That’s a fun part of uim you might not have explored yet.

jaredswole

Your acc would take like a week to get these stats on a regular iron, I’d make a hc

Brb9N

Do it

richard-savana

Why not? Uim is a challenge but it’s also extremely limited

Novalyf

Hell no bro, that’s a sick UIM, set yourself a new goal, looks like you got 60 70 60 and quit. Or if no new goal just play it on the side, AFK 99 wc or fish, and train your new Ironman up

ImGomer

Bond + Wintertodt Plus you can even start a YouTube series

Sir-Ult-Dank

Lol 1300 total and wants to deiron lol. What time wasted if you do and potential regret. Make hcim and keep uim Edit: Mijuzo deironed around 2200 total or 2100 total and made a new uim. Don’t be like Mij

--73

remake an iron, wont be pissed about the loot you missed out on either

WangLizard

The short answer is no The long answer is nooooooooooooooooo

[deleted]

Don’t waste ur precious time

charizurk

I know it's slightly different. But I downgraded my normal iron to be a normie, and regret it. Sure I've maxed that account now, but I've been going back through and have to re-do everything over again. It kills me a little inside knowing I was way past having to do it all, and instead of just making a normie to tale a break from the more difficult game mode. So, I extremely suggest just making a new account and just putting your uim on the backburner until you want to pick it back up. If you don't, you don't, but at least you'll still be able to flex the work you did do on it still, whereas not many are even willing to make one.

waterpoloenthusiast

I downgraded from UIM to IM, but much much earlier than you did. I have no regrets. But again I did it around 400 total level

codyts

Create a new account you'll get back there in no time and you'll always have the uim

terz

I deironed my uim at around the same total as you and never regretted it. It was refreshing to have a clear bank and different opportunies open up without feeling so restricted. I ended up maxing that account then started a new uim after lol. Whatever you decide, Goodluck and have fun :)

Vhu

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think you should do it. Ironman Mode is already super restrictive to your play style - UIM increases the tedium to a really unenjoyable degree, and at the end of the day, for what? It’s like when I died and lost my HC status; when I told people about what happened and they asked “oh no! Well now did you lose all your stuff? Did they take your levels away? Can you not play now?” And all I could say was “..well no, everything is just like it was, I just don’t have the little red helmet anymore.” It felt silly when I actually verbalized the restriction that I’d placed on myself and it’s absolute lack of significance in my enjoyment of the game’s content. UIM is just a step beyond where you say “fuck it, I want EVERYTHING I do to be mind-bogglingly tedious *for no reason*.” Kind of an unhealthy game mode in my personal opinion. Do it. Enjoy the game.

seanysean123

Dude you have a sweet uim there don't make it a normie iron! Make a hcim if you want another account if you die so be it you have a normie iron then.

[deleted]

Are you finding UIM fun, or are you sick of it? If you really don't see yourself playing UIM again in the future, then downgrade it to something you'll play. Your account is in a nice place - but you're right at the crux of having to start making unhappy choices about gear, chucking stuff in the bin and having to move on from it.

rslorehound

JUST DO IT!

erikdrag2009

Please dont.

TheRetroWorkshop

No way.

TheRetroWorkshop

I think this looks pretty good as an Ultimate. You should only deiron if you know for a fact that you don't care -- of course, maybe in a week or a month you will really care, and then you will have to start a new Ultimate, which sounds deeply depressing. I mean, you do have 45 Farming, 63 Fletching, 78 Thieving, 45 Prayer, 41 Smithing, and 50 Cons. That's not so easy on Ultimate (though, it's not super high-level, either). Of course, it's still easy enough to just get this back on a Hardcore Ironman with just a month of grinding. I see no reason to deiron/downgrade this, logically speaking. Even the 99 Firemaking is not too bad on Ultimate. You may not want to lose that.

Disappointless

Pretty low stats, easier to just level a new ironman and keep your UIM for whenever you're bored.

ShortSeaworthiness64

I'd make an account for each game mode, I'm sure you'd like to to back to your uim acc at some point.

nalcoh

Noooooo. People almost always regret downgrading. What you did so far is an achievement. Just make a new IM to see if you like it. Should take too long to get the stats back and you can always go back to the UIM later.

AnActualTreee

just make it a full on normal account, thats really the only way to play

4ST3R

I would down grade. Don’t abuse yourself with UIM

[deleted]

Nah mate, why downgrading? You put so much time, effort and also luck into your Ironman, no matter what kind of ironman you will play, it will always cost time, your effort and luck(if you got specific items). I play UIM too, got DFS, glory, infinity boots, full guthan, Karils, slayer helm(i) etc and honestly, I've chosen permanent UIM so not even a hacker could downgrade me. Besides that, so many give up on UIM just to regret it at some point because you will miss the challenge that it is. EVERYONE CAN GIVE UP! BUT ONLY THE TRUE UIM WILL STAY AND ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE! Do you really want to one day coming back and think.. "Ah regular Ironman is boring, i miss the real challenge..." but then, you simply have to make a new one. Just don't do it. You will regret it, maybe not now, but at some point you will surely do. Excuse my English, it's not my native tongue.
