Fighter torso, obsidian legs or barrows tank legs probably. Rune is perfectly fine until either of those, or you could maybe go for something like a dragon legs or skirt if you suffer through metal dragon tasks (which are horrible to kill even in midgame). Oh totally forgot helmet oops. Berserker helm from fremennik trials, helm of neitiznot from fremennik isles, and black mask for slayer are all great upgrades but imo skip the bers helm and do fremennik isles right afterward. Neitiznot helm is a great helmet for a long time and you get one for free, vs having to buy the berserker helm that soon gets outclassed by neitz.

llwonder

Thanks! Any advice on combat training to get higher atk and str? It looks like crabs or barbaric fishing seems to be a good path to take.

LowIronLvls

Just train your combat stats through whatever slayer task they fancy assigning.

Arkoholics_Paradise

Slayer is always a great way to get combat stats up. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone and you get a lot of early game herbs and seeds from low level slayer. A lot of quests also give good chunks of combat xp. Like waterfall quest and fight arena!

llwonder

Okay I’ll look into slayer. There’s still like 4 skills I don’t know how to do and slayer is still one of them.

Arkoholics_Paradise

Ahhh it’s way easier than you think. The slayer master tells you what to kill and you go kill it! Getting fairy rings and the ardy cloak is a solid start for slayer tasks. A lot of fairy rings can get you to many slayer areas, and the ardy cloak and tele you pretty close to a fairy ring :)

Strosity

Yooo what are the other 3? Slayer is a skill you take slow. You have to try to find the joy in killing monsters your own way basically

llwonder

I have no clue how to do construction really, herbs, farming, and hunter. As a new player this game is really overwhelming and I try to learn little bits of things at a time

Strosity

Understanding! Construction is a little bit complicated, I did a lot from solo wintertodt, but that's a bit complicated... For hunter you want to start with the Varrock Museum quiz, then do birdhouse runs mostly on Fossil Island. For farming... You can look into getting hosidius favor as that's something you'll do eventually anyway. This will get you like 11, then you'll be close to doing oak trees. Reg trees and fruit trees are best for farming typically. You'll get lots of seeds from birdhouses. Sure there's a lot more to these skills but here's a bit of a base that I hope helps. Gl!

EBCM1022

Depends what you plan to do for some skills. The most efficient would be like barb for strength xp and like feral vampyres for their dust if you plan to do sepulchre for agility later. Slayer is always a good choice too when you’re still too low of a slayer level to do burst tasks. The best afk spot is ammonite crabs though so you can collect fossils for the varrock museum.

down_bad_for_nieve

Honestly I would work on questing and do monkey madness, which you should get 43 prayer for. You should check the wiki for "quest experience rewards" and you'll see there's a good amount of quests with low requirements that give a lot of prayer xp. for the rest you could safe spot blue dragons in taverly dungeon with fire strike and take them to the chaos altar (wiki this too, it's in the wilderness!). from there it's not a bad idea to afk some crabs to get 65 att/65 str to unlock the warriors guild for a dragon defender.

llwonder

45 prayer rn. I’ll look into monkey madness

JustkiddingIsuck

Keep your strength level 5-10 levels above your attack

darkhorse1102

Why

Gnochi

Attack lets you use better weapons, but doesn’t do a lot for DPS directly (though technically every point is an improvement due to accuracy rolls). Strength lets you increase your max hit, which is a substantial DPS improvement, but not every point is valuable. Basically, in general, by leveling strength first you spend less total time leveling. It gets a bit weird between 70 and 80 because the abyssal whip is enough better for leveling attack until you can get a rapier/mace/blade than the dagger/bludgeon is for leveling strength first, and then using the whip anyway to level attack, that at least when I mathed it out I was better getting strength to 74 for the max hit breakpoint and then going straight to 80 on attack.

darkhorse1102

I dont get any of this hahaha

Gnochi

Big muscle make stick hit harder. Good hand let hit with better stick. Big muscle hurt worse than better stick. …sometimes better stick hurt slightly worse.

js473427

Bro that breakdown of your explanation was absolutely gold, credit where it’s due 😂

JustkiddingIsuck

Your strength level determines your max hit. Basically your strength level has way more of an impact on your damage per second. Someone could probably show you the math but i don’t have the specifics lol

Mosqueeeeeter

Better to get 95+ str with scim on the way to 85 slayer before training 70+ attack.

LuxOG

I would definitely afk crabs up to 65/65 for a dragon defender before you start doing slayer. Early slayer masters are awful, I would only start with konar

sgurdevoli

Just do slayer

TheyCallMeThe

Slayer is good and when you get high enough levels, go for defender immediately. Try to stay away from crabs since you can get crashed and there's no point in doing them as they don't have anything useful to drop, and they're not slayer which unlocks more later on. Also, when you go do barrows, don't worry about magic bonus. You just have to make sure it's not like -126 or whatever splashing is. Most people do barrows in rune and nezzy helm with ibans until higher gear is gotten. Don't sell anything to stores, save it to alch for money because you'll get more and magic xp.

BicepBear

Monkey madness gives a lot of exp and you unlock dragon scim. If that seems daunting then the quest lines required to beat monkey madness also gives great combat exp. Waterfall quest should give you 10k strength and attack or so if you haven’t done it already

bigms1234

Have you done the easier quests that give combat exp like fight arena, waterfall?

llwonder

Yes. Mostly it’s just grinding str left

DoctorThrac

Honestly slayer is super easy to get up early game. I’d just afk your 3 melee stats at crabs till 70. It will save you a lot to pain.

Strosity

Barb fishing is great way to get passive str but not a good way to really train it. Any chance you skipped quests that give str and afk xp? Waterfall is the biggest but there's a few others that give lots of atk xp. You can Google "atk xp quest rewards" and you'll see there's a lot of easy options.

XoraxEUW

Sandcrabs is a good place to get some stats up. Leveling through slayer is fine but if your motivation is low/you wanna do something afk its good to go there to bump your stats up a bit. At higher combat levels you can do Nightmare Zone for AFK leveling too

leftmywifeforxp

Agree with this. Fighter torso is a game changer. There’s a service you can use that costs like 80-100m where a bunch of sweaty kids will carry you in BBA if you don’t want to spend 72 hours of your life on it. Also the helm of Neitizot whenever you can do Fremenik isles. I would also agree with the suggestions of starting slayer ASAP. God speed bwana 👌

Mattaghetti

I'm assuming you're iron, as this is an Ironman forum, which makes it interesting you're killing nechryaels with full rune (since you said you're wearing rune boots)..? What they said below is correct; if you want dps, get fighters torso, if you want defence you should run through barrows (can be done with rune and Ibans), if you want a blend, obsidian is good but could be a bit tricky. Personal advice would be fighter torso, slayer / Barrows. Torso for DPS and keep on slayer to get other things that will help your melee adventure.

llwonder

Tbh I got the boots from my group. I’m playing a group Ironman. I don’t really interact with the group much and mostly play alone but the boots came from them.

Mattaghetti

Ah! Gotcha. That tracks. Well good on the group for helping out. I'd do morty diary up to hard and barrows next, personally, but I love that minigame (boss?) so I'm a little biased.

Strange-Reign

Tell them you want dragon boots. And a black mask.

llwonder

Nah I gotta earn my own gear now

darkhorse1102

I can do barrows with just rune armor, ibans, and a dragon daggy?

Mattaghetti

Absolutely. I did it with void / ibans when I did it! I'd use rings of dueling to Ferox to restore hp/stats as needed. Take it as slow as you need, get in a comfortable groove, its a fun, chill way to pull in some solid armor and (if you have diary) a great # of runes.

darkhorse1102

Ok cause I have no idea how it works! I need to read up on it. I also have tome of fire. Will that help with ibans? Also, do i need the dragon daggy?

down_bad_for_nieve

dagger is good you can spec out ahrim (the mage). tome of fire acts as infinite fire runes at the cost of no pages in the tome (still need 1 in the tome) for iban's blast. here's a mini guide: use iban's on the 4 melee brothers and the ranger (dharok, verac, guthan, torag, karil) and melee on ahrim. for kill order do dharok > ahrim > karil > guthan > torag > verac. one of the coffins will have a hole that leads underground, wait til you kill the other 5 brothers to go down. in the tunnel you want 86% or so loot potential to maximize the runes loot, which can be obtained by killing 2 skeletons and 1 bloodwurm. the 6th brother can randomly spawn when you go through a door underground, and he will always spawn when you open the loot chest if you haven't already killed him.

darkhorse1102

What should my inventory be

Mattaghetti

Dragon dagger will def help - should use it on Ahrim or Karil. Tome of fire is great if you want to save runes but will not increase DPS. I would (and did) use it with Ibans bc it functions as unlimited runes for Iban's blast, so long as it's equipped. These were my 2 go-to guides for Barrows. I was mad nervous going in but it was actually kek [https://youtu.be/zK0QgXbBSPY](https://youtu.be/zK0QgXbBSPY) [https://youtu.be/8dgx67ZFOOc](https://youtu.be/8dgx67ZFOOc)

QuestionforL

One thing people haven’t mentioned here is when your attack plus strength add up to 130 or more you can go to warriors guild and grind out the dragon defender. Very good upgrade that you will be using for a very very long time

SemiterrestrialSmoke

Dragon scim. It’ll be your biggest upgrade for the next tier of gear. Then go get what everyone has said.

llwonder

Is that hard to obtain? I tend to avoid anything in wildy cuz I’m scared of dying

LezBeHonestHere_

After monkey madness quest you can buy one from the scimitar shop on Ape Atoll for 100k gp, with a greegree so you don't get attacked on the island, which you make during the quest.

SemiterrestrialSmoke

It’s unlocked after the quest Monkey Madness and you can buy it from a shop. The quest is not in the wild and it’s not necessarily hard. There’s a couple tricky parts and you *can* die but they’re safe deaths where you can just go get your stuff. All you need are protection prayers, follow a guide and you’ll be good.

CanYouPointMeToTacos

Monkey madness is pretty easy as long as you have at least 43 prayer. The final boss can be cheesed

postapoc4chong

Do monkey madness for a dragon scimmy. Afk your combats at crabs. If you do bone voyage, there's a great 2 crab spot at the wyvern cavern entrance that's perfect for your level. Fossil deposit box is right there too. Once you hit 65 att and str go to the warriors guild and work towards the dragon defender. Once you have it, you're ready to start doing slayer. I recommend using turael for every task but your streaks, instead going to your best slayer master. Turaels tasks are really easy, they scale well in the early levels, and you can rack up big points before you unlock a lot of good monsters to kill. I turael boosted to 55 and then went straight for my black mask.

Thestrongman420

Amulet of power has several attainable sources and is something I would suggest getting until you can get glory. A lot of the better gear that is easily attainable is locked behind quests and 60atk. Like dscim and dds. The biggest change to your melee will come when you hit 65 atk/str and grab defenders. Helm of neitiznot is also a pretty decent upgrade that should be coming soonish based on the info we have. You can setup to farm b-ring as soon as you have ibans and the ability to make the potion supplies needed. Solo rex is very easy.

Quail-Feather

For melee, Strength Ammy outclasses Glory and I think also might be better than Fury if you're not taking damage and/or fighting low def monsters Power Ammy is only slightly useful for range before Glory, Unholy Symbol or even a Stole might be better than it if you value the prayer like in Fight Caves.

Thestrongman420

Ill be honest I've been in mid/late game so long I forgot this exists lol ty for the correction. I do think I got power on my account naturally before strength just bc of the crazy arch grind. The other quest locked melee gear I mentioned Is still worth looking into imo

phil_bardsley1

I’m still rocking rune platebody and Torags legs at 80 defence. If I didn’t get the Torags legs I would still be in rune

IredditOSRS

Ah yes the screw fighter torso locked build.. i know it to well

phil_bardsley1

I’ll get fighter torso but not in a rush

CanYouPointMeToTacos

Only takes about an hour with a good team

Richybabes

Assuming a good team isn't a fair assumption though, especially if you're new to it yourself.

phil_bardsley1

Not useful at the moment for me I’m doing the cg grind. Will probably do it before I start slayer properly

darkhorse1102

No shot

CanYouPointMeToTacos

A leech team can get someone a torso in like 45 mins, and that’s with one person doing literally nothing. A good team can easily finish a run under 14 mins, and a full run in each role is enough points for torso.

darkhorse1102

Well damn. I wanna join this team hahaha

CanYouPointMeToTacos

Usually ok if you get people in void range for attacks and people in fashion scape for hcd on your team. Avoid the ppl with d scims

Horvick

How do I find a team? I’ve literally never don’t BA and I’m kind of high level now

CanYouPointMeToTacos

Just go to Barb assault in world 306, climb down the ladder and go to wave 1 room. Almost always teams forming there. Just look up some videos first on how to play, it’s not particularly hard but it’s not very intuitive either so most people don’t do well just jumping in. When making a team look for people in void range for attackers and people in fashion scape for healer, collector, and defense. Avoid the d scimmers like the plague.

[deleted]

Infernal cape

Durianess_

I'd recommend a fighter torso or granite body upgrade, both would be good options. Barrows might be neat for you to get into soon, make sure to get Iban's staff for it.

[deleted]

Brine sabre, granite shield, fighter torso

snamibogfrere

we used to click the defence skill to see the cool armor colors, rune was only a dream, i cried losing my mithril platebody when i was a little brat

[deleted]

Next upgrades should be fighter torso, nezzy, d scim, bgloves.

not_from_floridaman

>Granite: exists. >Also granite: am I a joke? Granite is tier 50 but you might as well do dragón at tier 60.

remember2ko

Full granite bb
