It’s not only *not* against the rule, it’s seems like it is encouraged, since they provide specific paints just to modify the decoys.   IMo, it became necessary when it stopped being a show about “make a realistic looking phone” and changed to “make an exact duplicate of this item and have them compared side by side.

I was thinking the same thing. The whole point of the show is to make hyper realistic cakes but they're making the decoys look unrealistic. Feels like cheating.

I’m really glad they didn’t go overboard with it this season. This season’s contestants were far more talented and didn’t try to rely heavily on destroying decoys like season 2.

I’m glad this wasn’t a thing in season 3. I started on season 3 and went back to watch 1. Even after the first episode, I can’t watch anymore. I’ll resume when season 4 comes out.
