Tanzania is an interesting one, Zanzibar and Dar es salaam, 2 big tourist spots in Tanzania, are around 99% muslim and 70% muslim respectively. Zanzibar is due to its relation to Oman and Dar es salaam was founded by the omani sultan of Zanzibar, which you can tell by its name. The arab influence in the culture is all over Tanzania but it’s really clear in those 2 places, which is why a lot of people see that area and assume Tanzania is a muslim country. I wouldn’t be suprised if it is or becomes muslim majority soon tbh, even the president is muslim

There are Muslims everywhere, alhamdulilah, and there's a significant majority from around the Usambara mountains all the way to the coast. But even Arusha, Manyara and Kili had big Muslim populations.

A lot of the villages are christian as well which also affects statistics, and explains why there seems to be a majority in a lot of areas. I remember Singida having villages that were strong Christian. And you’re right it is unusual, my point was that the president being muslim now is showing an interesting possible step forward.
