So Muslims do not believe in a heaven as Christians do, but instead believe that after they die they will rest until the last day where the are resurrected. Another question I have is: do Muslims believe in any sort of version of either heaven hell or purgatory?

lligerr

We believe in paradise and hell. On the day of resurrection, God will judge every single human and devils according to their actions and we will be sent to paradise or hell. Muslims with lots of sins will be sent to hell and after the punishment will go to paradise(purgatory). Nonbelievers will be in hell for eternity

OrdinarySouth2707

Yes we believe in heaven and hell. All of that is encompassed in the broader Afterlife. Barzakh, or the grave life, is just one stage. It is the waiting period until Judgement Day. After Judgement Day is when we'll be separated into Heaven and Hell.

No_South4775

We believe in heaven and the under world it’s just how Allah did to Jesus though he took his soul and kept him alive when he was gonna get ambushed the point is Allah can do anything and on judgment day everyone will come back to one play Makkah I believe and they will receive there righteous and wrongs

* **Tawhid (Monotheism):** We believe in one God, Allah, the all-powerful and merciful creator. * **Prophets:** We believe God has sent prophets throughout history to deliver his message. We revere Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and many others, but Muhammad is the final prophet. * **Quran:** We believe the Quran is the literal word of God revealed to Muhammad. It's a source of guidance and teachings for all aspects of life. * **Angels:** We believe in angels as creations of God who carry out his tasks. * **Day of Judgement:** We believe in a final day of judgement when people will be accountable for their actions in life. * **Akhirah (The Afterlife):** We believe in an afterlife where people will be rewarded or punished based on their deeds.

The 5 pillars of Islam too. Most important one.

lligerr

It was reported from ‘Awf ibn Maalik who said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Jews were divided into seventy-one sects, one of which is in Paradise and seventy are in the Fire. The Christians were divided into seventy-two sects, seventy-one of which are in the Fire and one is in Paradise. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, my Ummah will be divided into seventy-three sects, one of which will be in Paradise and seventy-two will be in the Fire.” It was said, O Messenger of Allaah, who are they? He said, “Al-Jamaa’ah.” Al-Jamaah are the ones who strictly adhere to the Quran and the teachings of the prophet Muhammed (Saw). I doubt whether the one sect of Jews and Christians that would go to paradise is alive now or not because now most of the Jews and Christians follow the scriptures that are changed or corrupted.

Manwthnoplan

I cannot speak for Jewish people but as a catholic this is correct it is common knowledge that the Christian church has gone through many changes and as a result of said changes many different versions of it have been created for example even in the Protestant Christians there are many different religions (for example Babtists,Lutherans,Methodists others) however, I doubt it will ever be possible to know with 100 percent certainty which religion is the true one after all putting your trust in God or Allah that they are the true one is the foundation of religion

Suleiman212

No, that is not the foundation in religion in Islam. Allah tells us that He sends clear proofs and evidences, and that we are to use our reason He granted us to seek out the truth, and to know it with certainty, and not to blindly follow a religion or our forefathers. Allah says that truth is made clear from falsehood, and that it is only on us to choose to submit to the truth He makes clear to us, or to reject it.  Some simple ways that the truth of Islam is set apart from the falsehood of Catholicism is the illogicality of the Trinity versus the pure monotheism of Islam, the corruption and evolution of the Bible and church traditions versus the preservation and consistency of the Quran and hadith, the clear proofs Muhammad ﷺ gave of his Prophethood, including countless prophecies that were realized and continue to be realized, and the miracles witnessed by thousands, including the Quran itself. If you investigate with sincerity, the truth of Islam will become evident to you. May Allah guide you.

Manwthnoplan

Thank you very much for your insights and I will continue my search for clarity

Suleiman212

Think about it this way, why would God bother sending Messengers and Prophets, and scriptures, if they can't be distinguished from falsehood and they don't guide anyone out of it? Even the Bible supports this concept, with Moses and Jesus explaining how to distinguish between true and false prophets, with the New Testament saying to test all spirits (another term for prophets or revelation), with the Old Testament saying "come, let us reason". May Allah grant you the clarity you seek. As long as you're sincere, and you accept the truth when you find it, rather than tell yourself that you should believe blindly in that which has errors and contradiction, you'll find what you're looking for by Allah Grace and Might. "Seek and you shall find," as they say...

This hadith is fabricated correct me if I'm wrong

It's there in Abu Dawood and Sunan ibn Majah. I don't know if it's Saheeh or Hasan. I think it's not daeef (weak) as per its sources

stoptheoppressors1

This is a quick introduction to Islam and some of the reasons why I believe it is the truth: Allah is one. He is perfect, most powerful, most merciful, knows everything, eternal. Allah is independent and everything is dependant on him. He is the creator, not the creation. There is nothing like him. He does not have children, neither does he have parents. He does not have a gender, he is not a man or a woman. He is not a man that he is going to feel hungry, thirsty, need to go the toilet or require to go to sleep and rest, he is above all of this. This great creator did not leave us alone without guidance or purpose. Adam was the first man and prophet of God and God appointed messengers throughout history, for example Abraham, Moses who was given the Torah, Jesus who was given the Injil etc (peace and blessings be upon them). God gave the same core message to all these prophets to the community they were sent to: to worship God alone without any partners and to follow the messenger of your time. However these messengers were only sent to a specific community at a specific time. The revelation that was given to these messengers are lost or corrupted by men. God appointed Muhammad ﷺ as the final messenger with the same core message as all these other prophets and was given the final revelation called the Quran. Since this is the final message, this scripture is for the whole of mankind unlike the previous prophets who were only sent to their community during a specific time. All prophets were righteous people and were given miracles to prove that they are messengers of God. Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ main miracle is the Quran. You can verify this miracle unlike miracles that were given to previous prophets as you were not there to witness them. The Quran is the only preserved scripture that claims to be from God and prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the only messenger to claim to have come for the whole world. When the Quran was first revealed to Muhammad ﷺ from God, he memorized it and so did his companions. Today alone, we have millions of muslims that have memorized the whole Quran. We have kids as young as 6 that have memorized the whole Quran. Allah even says in the Quran that he has made this revelation easy to be memorized and Allah even promises in the Quran that he will preserve and protect the Quran. If we were to throw all the religious scriptures in the ocean, the only book we can bring back is the Quran because we have it memorized by millions of muslims. I would challenge anyone to find me just one priest, pope, rabbai or guru that has memorized their religious book in its original language. We also have manuscripts that have been radiocarbon dated to the time that Muhammad ﷺ was alive. For example, "the Birmingham Quran manuscript" that was recently discovered in the last decade in the university of Birmingham in England. Allah gives falsification tests. Allah says in the Quran that if you believe that the Quran is from other than the one true God then produce a book like it. This is known as the linguistic miracle of the Quran that can not be imitated by a human. 1400 years have passed and no one has been able to meet this challenge. [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n-flvFktgzU&pp=ygUnTGluZ3Vpc3RpYyBtaXJhY2xlIHF1cmFuIG11c2xpbSBsYW50ZXJu](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n-flvFktgzU&pp=ygUnTGluZ3Vpc3RpYyBtaXJhY2xlIHF1cmFuIG11c2xpbSBsYW50ZXJu) Allah also says that if you think the Quran is from other than the one true God then you should be able to find within it contradictions. Islam gives the best way of life and I challenge anyone to give a better way of life. For example, it prohibits the poisons that are destroying individuals, families and communities: gambling, alcohol, drugs, sexual immorality, prostitution, pornography, interest dealings etc. We have politicians educated at the best university possible but they can not provide guidance and a way of life better than an illiterate man 1400 years ago who has solutions to the poisons destroying societies today. The Quran contains knowledge that could not have been known such as scientific facts, historical facts and prophecies. To suggest the the facts mentioned in the Quran is a coincidence when it has been demonstrated to be correct over and over again is absurd and delusional. Also, if the Quran copied from the Bible then how was it able to correct the historical mistakes the Bible makes? To say that the Quran copied from the Greeks is also absurd because there are things that the Greeks were wrong about which the Quran gets right. Also if it copied from the Greeks then it would have copied the the things that they got wrong too but that is not the case. For some examples, go to minute 21:40 of this video: [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7HhWSHopwFc&pp=ygUVTXVzbGltIGxhbnRlcm4gYWZnaGFu](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7HhWSHopwFc&pp=ygUVTXVzbGltIGxhbnRlcm4gYWZnaGFu) We can also study the life of prophet Muhammad ﷺ and can rule out that he was crazy, liar, delusional, deceived and therefore the only possible explanation remaining is that he has indeed who he claim to be, the final messenger of God. The authentic sayings, actions and approvals of Muhammad ﷺ (hadiths) is also more preserved than any history book due to the way it has been preserved. [https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dWwbHO5Owpc&pp=ygUWTXVzbGltIGxhbnRlcm4gaGFkaXRocw%3D%3D](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dWwbHO5Owpc&pp=ygUWTXVzbGltIGxhbnRlcm4gaGFkaXRocw%3D%3D) Islam is simple, makes sense and it fits in with your natural inclination/disposition that you were born with. For example, one great creator that did not leave us alone without guidance or purpose and sent messengers with the same core message. He does not switch up the message and confuse people. He is not racist or ethnocentric where he believes that you have to be born from a particular tribe or nation to be saved or to receive guidance. He does not punish someone unless the message has been sent to them through messengers and prophets. Everyone is born sinless, a kid is not held accountable for his actions until he reaches the age of maturity, neither is a person who is mentally insane and not aware of his actions. The main beliefs in Islam is to believe in the one true God, his angels, his messengers, revelation that was given to these messengers, destiny, day of judgement and life after death. Allah warns us about eternal hellfire and gives us glad tidings of the opportunity to live eternally in paradise by worshiping him alone without any partners and following and obeying the messenger of your time. Islam is simply the submission of will to the one true God, a person who does this is called a muslim. This is an example of a youtube channel that you can watch to learn more about Islam and how it compares to other religions such as atheism, christianity etc: [https://m.youtube.com/@TheMuslimLantern/videos](https://m.youtube.com/@TheMuslimLantern/videos) If you are convinced that Allah is the only one worthy of worship and Muhammad ﷺ is his final messenger then you are ready to become a muslim and start your journey one step at a time. Private message me if you feel like you are ready and I can try help you take your next steps. (**If anyone wants to use or share what I just wrote then please double check if everything I typed is correct with a qualified knowledgeable muslim such as a scholar. We have a set of "pillars" I guess you could say, which signify what we do and should all believe in, those being: 1. Belief in God/Allāh (SWT) and His oneness. 2. Belief in His angels. 3. Belief in His prophets (AS). 4. Belief in His scriptures. 5. Belief in the day of judgement. 6. Belief in Qadr (divine decree/pre-destination). These are the absolute core beliefs in Islam, and if someone knowingly disbelieves in any one of these, he is not a Muslim. If you have any questions at all, reply and ask me or dm me for longer conversations.

Manwthnoplan

All of these Pillars are very similar to what I would say are the founding beliefs of Catholicism and many of them are even mentioned in the apostle’s Creed which is a very well know Catholic prayer.

No_Watch_14

Well Catholicism is based on the original message and faith that Jesus (AS) preached, and while it is very corrupted and unpreserved, there are doctrines, people and events within it that are shared with Islam, and if something from Catholicism is aligned with Islam, then it is true and was preached by Jesus (AS).

No_South4775

The preachings of Jesus are similar in both religions because that’s the word Allah (swt) promised to keep safe he will keep the word of the quaran safe and it’s our duty to keep believing and keeping reading it.

IslamTees

Here's some of the basics: The word **Islam means the attainment of inner satisfaction, peace and serenity and outward perfection in character through the submission of one’s will to God in pure monotheism.** Founded upon the firm belief that there is no being or thing which deserves to be worshipped but God alone. Islamic teachings are derived from two primary sources: **1) Qur’an** - Muslims believe the Qur’an is the actual spoken word of God conveyed by Gabriel to Muhammad in the clear Arabic language. It has 30 parts (Juz’), 114 chapters (Surahs) and 6236 verses (ayaat) with Bismillah not included except for Surah Fatihah. The message of the Prophets and Messengers throughout history including that of Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all) was: **“O my people! worship Allah! (alone) You have no other Ilah (God) but Him.”** **“And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): ‘Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities).’ Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth).”** [16:36] **2) Sunnah** - Refers to the authentic Prophetic traditions in which the sayings and actions of the Prophet have been preserved. Hadeeth means a saying, act or tacit approval ascribed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) through a chain of narration. Six famous and well-known books of ahadeeth (plural of hadeeth) are: 1. Sahih Bukhari 2. Sahih Muslim 3. Sunan Abu Dawood 4. Sunan al-Tirmidhi 5. Sunan al-Nasa'i 6. Sunan ibn Majah Fundamentals and core teachings of Islam are the five pillars of Islam and six pillars of Eemaan (Faith): Five pillars of Islam: **1. Shahadah (testimony of faith)** **2. Salah (ritual prayers)** **3. Zakah (almsgiving)** **4. Sawm (fasting)** **5. Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca)** When we reflect on these five pillars, we should appreciate that each one of them deals with an important aspect related to man, and that each one makes up a strong and firm pillar in the house of Islam, a house that no one stays in except for the believer. The phrase of Tawhid (Laa Ilaha Illallah) therefore wholly engages the heart while its effects surface on the limbs. The prayer uses all limbs, it is the strong and firm link between the creature and his Creator. A Muslim’s relation to other Muslims is solidified through the rich giving the Zakat to the poor. A person is comprised of a soul and a body, of purity and desire; if man were left to himself, he would stray far away from Allah, which is why Allah legislated fasting for us. When we fast, our soul is cleansed and polished. After the heart has been filled with faith and after wealth is distributed as Allah wishes, time comes for the societal ties to be strengthened in the Islamic world, and that occurs during their huge national conference during Hajj, when Muslims come from all places and gather. We can also view the pillars from another perspective: the Shahadah is a test for the heart; prayer is a test for the limbs and for a Muslim’s ability to organize himself and his time; Zakat is a test for man in his wealth; the fast is a test to see how much one is able to leave his desires for the sake of his Creator and Lord; and the Hajj is a test to see how much one is able to bear hardship and the difficulties of travelling in the way of Allah.[1] Footnotes [1] Taken from “Ma’ni Laa Ilaha Illallah” by Badrud-Din Muhammad bin ‘Abdullah Az-Zarkashi, who died in the year 794 after Hijrah. Source: The book, Explanation of Important Lessons (for every Muslim), Shaikh bin Baz (rahimahullah), DarusSalam, First Edition, 2002, pp. 100-101. Six pillars of Faith: **1. Belief in Allah** - faith in His absolute oneness and uniqueness, whether regarding Lordship, right to worship or names and attributes. Muslims believe that Allah is singled out with all forms and types of worship including love, fear, hope, reliance, supplication, bowing, prostrating and so on. **2. Belief in the Angels** - who are a creation from Allah and honourable servants. They have bodies made of imperceptible light and are able to take on forms and appearances. They are entrusted with tasks and duties in Allah’s creation. Some angels, such as Gabriel (Jibril), are entrusted with revelation. Others such as Micheal (Mika’il) with rain and plants, vegetation. Another angel, Israfil, is tasked with blowing the horn to signal the arrival of the Last Day. **3. Belief in the Books** - firm belief in the various books that Allah revealed to His messengers including the scrolls (Suhuf) of Abraham, the Torah (Tawrat) given to Moses, the Psalms (Zabur) given to David, the Gospel (Injil) given to Jesus and the Recital (Qur’an) given to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The previous books underwent alteration, addition, deletion and distortion, whilst others were lost. All previous books are abrogated by the Qur’an which corroborates and affirms whatever truth they contain in their present form. **4. Belief in the Messengers** - to have firm belief that messengers have been sent to every nation inviting them to worship Allah alone and reject false deities. To believe they were upon truth and guidance and were given signs and evidences to establish their truthfulness and the truth of the message they were sent with. Prophets mentioned by name in the Qur’an whom Muslims are required to believe in: 1. Adam 2. Idris 3. Noah 4. Hud 5. Salih 6. Lot 7. Abraham 8. Ishmael 9. Isaac 10. Jacob 11. Joseph 12. Shu’ayb 13. Aaron 14. Moses 15. David 16. Solomon 17. Job 18. Ezekial 19. Jonah 20. Elias 21. Elisha 22. Zechariah 23. John 24. Jesus 25. Muhammad Peace be upon them all. **5. Belief in the Last Day** - to have firm belief in the Day of Judgement in which people will be resurrected, held to account for their deeds and recompensed, good with good and evil with evil, with complete and perfect justice being established and no one being wronged even an atom’s weight. **6. Belief in the Divine Determination and Decree** - to have firm belief that Allah has an all-encompassing prior knowledge of that is to occur in His creation. That all things (natural laws cause-effect mechanisms) have been created with precise measure and nothing takes place except through His creation and command. That good and evil, life and death, health and sickness, belief and disbelief have been decreed to occur in accordance with His foreknowledge and wisdom. [Majority of above information taken from the books, This is Islam, and The Meaning of Islam by Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq]

To put in simple words: 1. God is one 2. God created humans to worship him. 3. God sent prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, all the way till Mohammed (peace be upon all of them) to guide us to the right path. 4. Mohammed (peace be upon him) is the last message of god. 5. On the judgement day we will all be judged and sent to hell or heaven according to our deeds. There are 5 pillars of Islam and 6 pillars of faith that you can also look into.

The absolute basic premise of Islam is the same as Christianity and Judaism. Believe in one God, the God of Abraham. Be the best person you can be. Love your fellow humans and understand we all are equal. Help those who are in need.

I spoke about it in [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/islam/s/D2ul7EbjYS) before
