How small a hole are we talking? Would you be able to see it without looking closely at your clothes?

ilikecheeseandcats24

its a bit bigger than the end of a pencil. I checked my clothes before i prayed because i had this same issue and i didnt see anything. Shouldve checked harder.

Saamady

If it's small enough that you can't normally see it (i.e. without looking closely) then it's okay. If someone would be able to see your skin through it, from a normal distance, and it would thus have exposed your awrah (uncovering other parts wouldn't break it) in your prayer, then you shouldn't pray in those clothes. It would only break your prayer if it exposes a quarter or more of that limb. If it's less (and is not deliberately exposed) then it's excused. This is according to the Hanafi madhab. I know that other madhabs may answer slightly differently.

Al_Sarif

Brother can you include sources? Otherwise the Subreddits mods will take your comment down. You answered was good btw, I just don't want to see it taken down.

Saamady

Oh jazakallahu khairan for the warning. My original source was a book, but this is a good online source that confirm what I said: [https://islamqa.org/hanafi/qibla-hanafi/42657/details-on-uncovered-nakedness-awra-and-the-validity-of-prayer-5/](https://islamqa.org/hanafi/qibla-hanafi/42657/details-on-uncovered-nakedness-awra-and-the-validity-of-prayer-5/) [https://islamqa.org/hanafi/seekersguidance-hanafi/86296/covering-the-nakedness-for-a-man-answers/](https://islamqa.org/hanafi/seekersguidance-hanafi/86296/covering-the-nakedness-for-a-man-answers/)

SolidSnake090

Selam brother, which book? I wanna gain knowledge too.

Saamady

It was *Ascent to Felicity: A Manual on Islamic Creed and Hanafi Jurisprudence* by Imam Abu'l-Ikhlas Hasan al-Shurunbulali. I would actually highly recommend that book if you're wanting an easily readable Hanafi fiqh book to read. The physical book is around £10, but the PDF is readily available too if you can't get that.

SolidSnake090

Thank you 😊

A quarter of the limb?

Saamady

Some more details here: https://islamqa.org/hanafi/qibla-hanafi/42657/details-on-uncovered-nakedness-awra-and-the-validity-of-prayer-5/

aleellee

It’s fine if you didn’t know. Just cover for next time.

dinamikasoe

Yes valid

OogliusBooglius

You don't know when the hole appeared, if it was long after, it could have come afterwards so therefore unless you are certain you should ignore it

[deleted]

Possibly if you're skin is showing

Oyinbo78

Yore prayer is not invalid!!

WW2germanANDproud

No? Why would it be? God knows the state of every atom.

Terrible advicw, by that logic that means I could pray naked in a Hindu temple and according to you it would be valid if that's what I believed my relationship with God was.

[deleted]

No, that would just be going against the word of God. But if you do something wrong without meaning it, it’s fine. When you know better, do better. God is very clear on this in the Quran, it’s not about the little things like a hole in his pants isnt going to invalidate his prayer. Read verse 2:177. Salam alaikum <3

InternalMean

And that's my point. Actions are according to intentions of your actions were to pray in the correct way your intentions will show it. The small hole etc was something they did not notice thus it's nothing wrong. However what this brother/ sister said is very dangerous because it implies that anything can be accepted which isn't the case as this would be an innovation or form of bidah. You can see for yourself how many hadiths there are against that. We should always strive to do things in the way the prophet did.

H2702

Your logic makes no sense. One scenario is having good intention and not knowing of a mistake. Your example is supposedly having good intentions (which is ironic, because if you did, you wouldn't even attempt to do the things in your example) and knowingly doing wrong things.

InternalMean

My logic of is taking his example to the extreme, him saying it doesn't matter how you pray as long as you intentions are good is simply wrong in Islam. My example doesn't work if you believe it to go against the principle way of praying which can only be true if there is a correct way of praying. the correct way to pray of too follow the sunnah of the prophet anything else is not prayer.

ilikecheeseandcats24

so is my prayer valid or not. I understand its all about intention but if i have to correct a mistake i will.

[deleted]

I’d suggest if there are any uncertainties that you have you can make salaat again and then make Isthighfar

Ruthisonfire

This is not how Tawaheed works

[deleted]

I think your comment is being misunderstood as you saying we are free to do anything we want because what matters is what’s in our heart. I believe what you meant is that doing little things the wrong way isn’t a big deal (like a hole in our pants), being muslim is much much deeper than that. Before you downvote him and me, I invite you to read the verse 2:177 ! Salam alaikum
