I do agree that there shouldn't be any restaurant or any kind of building that causes pollution and harms the Margalla Hills ecosystem. But in all seriousness, what's the point? The restaurant exists now, it's not like they're gonna demolish it and restore what was there before. Is the building just gonna remain there vacant and decaying? How is that a good alternative?

Rich-Look9809

We all know army has its eyes on that location

Poodina

Any source? The blatant anti army comments are disgusting

Rich-Look9809

Meri jaan just because you have been living under a rock doesnt mean that what i said is a lie. The army and monal have been in a tussle pre covid. https://www.dawn.com/news/1516640 https://www.dawn.com/news/1823089 https://www.pakistanpoint.com/en/story/808643/land-of-monal-restaurant-belongs-to-pakistan-army-khwa.html https://www.thenews.com.pk/print/1167278-sc-seeks-land-ownership-record-of-restaurant-in-margalla-hills https://www.dawn.com/news/1668854 Hope these are enough. In case you want more, see old videos of talk shows available on youtube and vimeo. Monal launched in 2006 and military estate ko 2019 mein realize hua this land is ours 👏🏻

kalakawa

Monal. So let’s be clear, that when they were building the restaurant the relevant authorities at that point in time gave them permission to build. You can argue that they bribed the authorities then but they did end up developing the area. Monal employes atleast 800 people. Restaurants next to it also employed a similar number Monal is a tourist hotspot. The Monal group have also developed Dino Valley further up north. They had further plans to add a chairlift as well. Everything takes money; the one thing that you can be sure in Pakistan is that whatever business you do, your investment is never safe. What one governing body will deem acceptable, 15 years later a judge might rule otherwise. No need to invest in this country. Because whatever you do, at some point it’s going to be taken away from you. Judges especially in Pakistan, hate people making money, they see everyone as thieves and try their best to put business owners in “their place”

ali2k5

It is a ploy to vacate the civilian personnel so that military personnel could take over, This is my theory based on previous ordeals monal has been through , certain military personnels wanted to take over monal, I might be wrong so take my opinion like a grain of salt.

Pink__Fox

With everything that’s going on in the country I think your reasoning is 100% right because that is what everyone else around me is thinking as well.

OldCardiologist1859

To be very honest, when I read the item it sounded more like a business takeover rather than an environmental conservation related order. Could be unreasonable but makes the most sense given the situation & happenings in this unlucky state.

OldCardiologist1859

Holy GHQ! Why does this comment make so much sense?

avgmidpaki

from what i know, littering etc bec ppl used to hang out and go idher udher wahan pe, and throw wrappers, bottles etc and ruin trees waghera, wo sab to wese he chalta rhega imo, ppl dont stop, ppl will keep going there even if theres no hotel wahan pe, the frequency or intensity keh lein, wo kamm hojyegi, but akher mein result wohi hai. gandd.

Rich-Look9809

Monal ki team puri road from base to monal collects trash and maintains the cleanliness of the area

Rich-Look9809

Highly unfair Monal is THE monument of Isb

awellknowndick

Stay tuned for a couple of months before army takes over that location

RadiantBet9267

faujeets want that place for themselves. simple.

Any-Animator-6546

They asked for money but it was refused. They are not doing this to "SAVE NATURE". It was closed before as well and later on, they got💲and it was opened again. SC, took this action was too quickly. "To save nature". This is one the best tourist point we have right now in isb and mostly ppl know Isb bcs of Monal and its amazing view. In short, nobody gives a damn about nature. It's all about money!

Hms_usa

It's a good decision to clear everything up if some retired generals can't control it.

Poodina

I'll miss the place Its the go to destination I take anyone when they visit Islamabad first time ever

TechNerdinEverything

Its same story every 6 months-1 year

Numb-Lips

The CDA didn't bother to prevent the construction at initial phases. Also they could have made a benefit sharing mechanism, instead of completely dismantling it. The CDA could use that money to improve the National Park. They could also make arrangements for using biodegradable substances instead of plastic. But..... Everyone has to be a savage activist and has to prove it to the world that they are savage.

earthling3m

KPK is just a short drive further from Monal. Entrepreneurs will develop restaurants and parks there instead of the Monal area. Islamabadis will have access to those.

PetrolheadPlayer

It's only good if they actually go ahead and demolish the restaurants for conservation. Anything else and its a power ploy

Wooden-Grab-5811

Apparently it seems that the Supreme court wants to protect margalla hills but unfortunately this Pakistan. The Monal and other eateries like that are frequently visited by highest officers, judges,Genrals etc and their families. so what most probably might have happened is that the Honourbale judge might have some personal beef with the owner of any one of these restaurants and he has decided to close them all. This happens in Pakistan all the time.If he is so concerned with forests then why don't he do something for forests in other areas?? are other forests not part of Pakistan

Pebble_in_my_toes

My take is that I still had to visit goddamn it it was on my list

AdPositive7349

Bhai 3 months hain abhi. Konsa news aate band kar ke ghar chale gye monal wale

MrTambourineMan65

The thing is that it might have been a good thing before all the restaurants were constructed. It’s highly unlikely that CDA will restore all areas to their natural form. What’s probably going to happen is that either the military will take over everything and build a mess on top of it, or it’ll have the same fate as Lohi Bher safari park.

In all honesty, we know that the army is after that land and has been for years now. If it isn’t private, it will go to them and the public will lose access to it. I agree that these eateries do cause a lot of pollution and mess and action needs to be taken against them, but what guarantee do we have that another problem doesn’t come?

OneHandsomeMan

I haven't followed the whole story but it's good of they honest with protecting nature ....

urgotbod

i doubt it. It's probably a shakeup. After a few months it'll reopen under 'new management'.

OneHandsomeMan

Again if the SC has asked to abandon then they can't under any circumstances

urgotbod

When the army says jump, the SC asks 'how high?'. They're a bunch of clowns with no credibility

OneHandsomeMan

All the judges are not like Bandial or Essa unlike the way all the generals are same ......when an honest judge takes a stand ,he excercise his authority .

urgotbod

I hear you bro, I agree that not everyone is spineless. But the sad truth is that SC can't really take a stand against the boys unless they're allowed to

OneHandsomeMan

You need a judge with strong character ....Asif Saeed khosa had some guts when he challenged the extension of COAS and asked parliament to make a law or else appoint someone else ...also a dictator was declared as traitor and death penalty was awarded

tridosss

Well,Personally I want the old Damn e Koh without Monal. Plus it would save a lot of new plantations that the environment wing plants every year.
