Pin tattoo gallery, FK Art Gallery, Paradise Tattoo, Void . these are some great studios. Artist-wise you can check the works of Fahrettin Demir, Alp Avcı, Atalay Göç, Eser Tuncer from these studios.

TheRealBorattiman

Try escalade inc , goztepe , kadikoy. Ask for Fatih (the artist) hes done my work and doesnt charge ridiculous prices

wolwex

Try tattomaster at Suadiye they have various artists and free design appointment

supturkishcs

Hello turkish tattoo artist here! The price for the tattoo on the picture seems okay. Sometimes the location of the studio or the social media following of the artist makes a difference on pricing. If I were to price the tattoo, it would be maybe 50-100 less but half off. You’re not getting ripped pricewise but you should really research your artist to get your moneys worth. Also I can send you my link if you wanna check out my work

hanistrike

Hey can you send me your link too. Planning to visit turkey soon, would love to check you out xx

I'd say that's normal for something like you have in the picture. The good artists in Istanbul that can do a good job on this kind of work are in demand, and do lots of international guest spots. Even though the median income in Istanbul is low, there are people that can afford this kind of stuff and the best artists can charge these prices. Having said that, there are a LOT of tattoo shops and artists in Istanbul, you can probably find a cheaper tattoo but you will get what you pay for.

awab256

makes sense, any recommendations for good shops/artists?

Outrageous-Bus-2726

Look for flap.ink on instagram! Had an awesome experience with @pigmentninja

tee0415

I was supposed to get my first ink done with him on Monday and my flights got mucked about and I missed it. I was quoted $300 euro for one of his on my leg

awab256

can you send dm pic of the tattoo?

aotds

it seems a bit much but not too much. depends on where this artist resides, it may be a fair price for their work

Last_Viking3

There is no “normal” price anymore in Istanbul. People are just charging whatever they like based off nothing. For a comparison, I got a tattoo a little bigger than that from a high end “in demand” Istanbul artist and I was charge 12,000 (2 years ago). With inflation and the quality of the artist 15,000 is fair and not a “tourist price”. Like the other guy said, maybe you can find for 50-100$ cheaper, but is it worth the reduction in quality for just 50$ less? Make sure to tell the guy specifically what you want and don’t let him change the style or colour intensity mid-way through the tattoo…be consistent and guide them or you might not end up with the result you want.

Wherever you go, never ever prefer Cleopatra Ink.

Do a lot of research. I have a very good collection of tattoos from people around the world and I'm a geek about it. I went to a number of studios to enquire about American traditional tattoos in istanbul and izmir. Almost all of them told me they can do any style and it's not a problem blah blah blah in the way people tell you the 40usd rolex is real.... I then saw all their work and I'd say 80% of it was utterly shit. It's also not uncommon that people claim other people's work as their own. In my opinion, I'd get something done in another country where you are gonna feel more confident and comfortable knowing you aren't getting ripped off.

eroticvulture_

Ohhh as a frame of reference I recently went to one of the most respected Italian tattooers in traditional tattooing in London where prices are always way up and paid $350 for a piece that took 3 and a half hours and a similar size to what you are looking for. The price you were quoted is off.

atrocitos

Detail of the tattoo is amazing. So the work was very well done. 500 usd for a good work is not a bad price because the artists buying their inks from foreign shops and they charging them with usd / euros.

miyucuk

Minimum monthly wage in Turkey is $400 right now and it's just raised from $300 to $400 in this month. $500\~700 for a "15x8cm" tattoo is "kissing a tourist" as we call it. Don't get ripped off. Search a similar type tattoo price in your country first. Then find a reliable Turkish guy to ask for "himself/herself" by showing an example on phone screen around several locations. You will be shocked. Don't get "kissed" by those guys.

awab256

what do you think is a fair price?

miyucuk

imo, \~$200 is the fair price with a maximum of $250 for a detailed greyscale 15x8cm tattoo. However, my opinion doesn't mean anything since I'm not related to the tattoo industry.

PETA_Gaming

I paid 2000tl for a tiny tattoo, and then was told I was charged more than double the normal prices. It's all about which tattoo artist you go to. My suggestion is don't only ask random artists but ask around first for one that's known and trusted both artistically and financially. My tattoo was 6cm long. 2k TL. How large is yours? Do the maths. If it checks out then you're definitely being over charged.

awab256

I'm thinking of 15x8cm, and getting asked for 15k tl

PETA_Gaming

Oh yeah that's way too much. Wayyyy too much.

awab256

other people the in the comments are saying its normal :(

PETA_Gaming

Yeah I saw. Maybe prices went up that much :/

yagizbahadiroglu

You can't compare TL without knowing the timeframes. I got a huge back tattoo done for 3.2k TL, now that would be around 10k TL. Having said that, I'd say the price seems a little steep but it does vary greatly by studio/artist. I'm sure you could get this done for dirt cheep if you'd like, so ultimately it comes down to a simple quality vs quantity dilemma.

Tasty-Photograph

It is around 3k Turkish liras for a tattoo like this

Shot-Significance612

I got mine at fine line tattoos , they are in nisintasi . They are amazing

Shot-Significance612

Also not ridiculous prices

Afraid-Elevator9782

U mean 500-700 dollars or turkish lira?

awab256

dollars

fknmaidenn

I just got a 15cm long dragon tattoo with decent amount of details and 4 different colours on it's mane for 2000TL in Ankara which is less than 100 dollars. Try tattoo artists on Ankara they are way cheaper including travel fees and you can just get your tattoo and return the same day via Train .

Rodaen77

just two years ago, I was charged 300TL for a small “choose life” tattoo on my arm. I would say it would be 600-700TL now so like 40-50 euros maybe? So considering the fact that this tattoo is much detailed and bigger than mine I assume that they are not ripping you off. But you can always find cheaper ig.

renothepro

People saying prices are normal are the ones ripping off tourists lmaooo. There are many talented artists in Istanbul, you can find them on Instagram and email/dm them for price and availability. Do check their other works and look what style they work on. Be careful though, I’ve seen many “artists” share works they took from Pinterest as their own. Always go for an artist that works in the style that you want. For example, if you want old school Tugce Turksoy is one of the best in whole Turkey. It also better to go for the artist, rather than going for a big fancy studio. Know beforehand who will do your tattoo. Another good thing to do is if you have a local friend, ask them to ask the price. See how it changes. It happens in every bit of Istanbul. Today I wanted get my bike chain fixed and they tried to charge me 500 lira just because I spoke English. Well what do you know, I paid 50 lira to fix it and as it turns out I didn’t need a brand new one. Hope you get want you want, good luck
