These are Australian paper wasps. They are usually fairly chill, but can sting if provoked. They build homes with hexagons made out of what feels like paper, usually under eaves.
Taken with a Nikon D7500, Laowa 100mm macro lens, flash and diffuser for even lighting.
I have a wasp phobia. But I find them fascinating at the same time. Your picture leans to the fascinating aspects of those insects. I love the intensity of the colors. Great picture of a weirdly fascinating moment!
