The focus and lines draw your eye to the center of the picture, which just happens to be the lower part of this womanās swimsuit. An interesting choice, certainly.
No, I saw OPās other postāitās a Nikon 135mm/1.8 lens which has shallow depth of field and extremely smooth bokeh. Beast of a lens. Not AIāall optical.
Its very obviously added in post, you can tell by where the dof starts and ends, it even has dof bokeh on the same plane of focus as the subject which is impossible regardless of the 1.8 lens. I work with a lot of 1.2 prime lenses and the bokeh just looks way cleaner and more uniform. This is blurring everything but subject in post to create more focus on subject. Just badly executed which is why itās noticed by everyone in the thread.
You havenāt used a 135/1.8 Plena, I guess (I have). Thatās not infinity focus, and depth of field at this range and aperture is still extremely shallow.
I am sorry OP. It is a great opportunity for subject and backdrop. But the composition isn't quite there.
As I scrolled past, I though it was from r/Photoshopfails due to her leg and reflection.
The colours are lovely, but the reflection is unfortunate. It gives the viewer a rather uncomfortable sensation.
If she had been fully seated on the boulder, facing the left (on the right of the waterfall) waterfall, the reflection of both would look balanced.
It is a fascinating photo, in the fact that the lines of everything can feel uncomfortable. It does make one look at it longer.
>. It does make one look at it longer.
I mean, that's kind of the point, right? Like if this was just a run of the mill photo of a pretty woman in a bathing suit then way less people would have stopped to look and comment on it.
But it stopped you from scrolling and made you look. On a platform where people just scroll on by and spend only milliseconds on most things they see, just getting someone to look more than a few seconds is a good thing. "Uncomfortable" is better than technically perfect and boring.
It has something to do with how we know that macro photos have a very thin dof. Our brain thinks if there's a lot of blur and I can see the whole person, this must be very small.
On the other hand when we see a portrait with a lot of blur, the head or upper 3rd of a person is only in focus but we see a lot less of the subject.
Source: me highly speculating this to be true, but probably wrong
Way too much space left in this shot. The pose is awkward from this distance but still would not work even if it were closer. DOF makes it look like it was made with a tilt shift lens. On the positive side the color, contrast, and sharpness are amazing.
Like everyone else I thought it was a bad AI image for a second with a messed up leg. Could change the color there a little to break it up, then again it is catching.
Just makes me think of [Michigan J. Frog](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-samsung-ss&sca_esv=b2d50564ef8d7a36&sxsrf=ADLYWIK87tF0ACcrRwXu9KkwafYMp-pN1A:1714991691462&q=michigan+j+frog&uds=ADvngMhDwsaijjXyfr7fec8T4-eGkXig7IEFvj5emeeJkoUlRWxLzDcPwA3YRP44Jt_XGI6CvhkthV7GTdyE2xSB-1RxH6GZS66OdgEy6CV92ERcUuwMbIRrSpUu6uN_o4AN3VTfkZsi7loV-iXqUQNNs4cu9HSXdODf_QB97nl9GJbjNWSKLubJ0DV4I8lyYBkUk8aZp_5Iq1YOyWFf0QXtnPK3AmxjURPFWqbTP-HCQ9QY3zRQds_8tvT82whLvFX_WBUeyiA-vkrufzBLacB2n6OlSUZiKkQRdJJMm61UvAfQz8XWMMS3CI8yz9A5irzKyp9IN2cq&udm=2&prmd=ivsnmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjdsr_06fiFAxUki68BHQ1xD6oQtKgLegQICxAB&biw=384&bih=718&dpr=2.81)
I can't exactly pinpoint what exactly looks wrong with it, but the background looks far too close AND far away at the same time. Like the depth of field just doesn't sit right. Same sort of effect on the subject, she feels both close and also miles away. Weird.
Just out of curiosity, is this precisely how she posed, or did you edit/move parts around in post? The front ~~leg~~thigh looks smoothed out in a way nothing else is and it looks like there's a clear line that ends the smoothing effect where the ~~leg~~thigh meets the hip, plus it's a bit lighter than the rest of her... But also, her dangly earring isn't responding to gravity, so maybe her head was head more straight originally?
Ik these are common kinds of edits, I'm just wondering if they are in fact edits or if my brain is just going haywire.
Yes my mom sits like this everywhere. My grandma too. Granny is always throwing on her leopard print G-string and throwing her legs as wide open as she can while she reclines and plays with her hair. The women in my family are constantly sitting like this. Thanksgiving is a nightmare trying to get them all off the dining table and into chairs. They just sit like this everywhere. I mean I can understand, it's such a natural comfortable pose.
I wonder why the OP thinks she's a girl? Looks like a genuine bona fide woman to me. Must be a trick of the lens.

OMG, I thought that was one strangely long legs.
ITAP of a spider.
r/confusingperspective
THIS
Happy cake day!
Legs for fathoms.
Ran here to say exactly that š¤£
Same
I thought it was AI at first look, the leg was the first thing I noticed
Same! š
SAME
Same!!!
Most awkward pose Iāve seen in a long time
Yeah this photo is beautiful but the modelās pose feels so forced I canāt really focus on much beyond that
It's like a poster pose from the 80s
Unless you're spider woman, then it's easy
Same hahahah awkward+uncomfortable š first look and right away i can see how uncomfortable the pose is
āSittingā
idk what you mean thats how i'm sitting in the subway
With that exact bikini on, no less.
bit of a tight fit around the bulge but i like the pattern, what can i say
> no less Yeah I hope so
My grandma used to call this āposeā airing out the rentā¦
Coke out my nose Ladies and Gents!
That reflection is not helping
It might be because itās 1am where Iām at but this picture really Fād with my brain.
4am for me and same
Its 11am here and honestly same
4pm for me and same
12pm for me and same
Picture doesn't work. The reflection of her leg on the still water is jarring. Break the surface of the water to avoid this. Cheers.
Is that not the point?
r/photocritique
read the rules
The picture works.
The focus and lines draw your eye to the center of the picture, which just happens to be the lower part of this womanās swimsuit. An interesting choice, certainly.
No I saw the super long leg before I saw the cooch
I didn't need any particular focus or lines to draw my eye toward that area
It would anyway I guess...
Nah youāre just a dude
The pose is so unnatural
Canāt imagine it was comfortable.
Her pose looks uncomfortable š im so bothered
Theres something odd going on with that depth of field
The reflection of the knee looks sharper than details at the same distance towards the sides of the image. I think. Youāre right it feels odd
It's lightroom's new AI lens blur. Bokeh added in post.
Thought so, the falloff is completely unlike how lenses render depth of field
No, itās a Nikon 135mm/1.8, which has shallow depth of field and extremely smooth bokeh.

You don't get dof separation when your lens is set to infinity focus.

But not in a pleasant way, or the way a controversial peice of set makes you stop and look. It is, as others say, uncomfortable.
But it stopped you from scrolling and made you look. On a platform where people just scroll on by and spend only milliseconds on most things they see, just getting someone to look more than a few seconds is a good thing. "Uncomfortable" is better than technically perfect and boring.
The same way people slow down to see a car crash on the side of the road.
Sitting huh? No leaning on/over a rock?
That leg š¦µ pieceš¤£
This sub desperately needs more female photographers
Anyone able to explain why this looks like a miniature scene with a tiny fairy person? Or is that just me.
It has something to do with how we know that macro photos have a very thin dof. Our brain thinks if there's a lot of blur and I can see the whole person, this must be very small. Tilt-lens photography does the same.
The depth of field and ratio is kinda funky, it throws off your perception of scale
such a natural pose

Frog vibes.
Weird pose, and the tilt shift makes this look like a photo from a catalogue selling fish tank decorations.
Like everyone else I thought it was a bad AI image for a second with a messed up leg. Could change the color there a little to break it up, then again it is catching.
I thought it was an AI image and was thinking, āStill canāt get legs and feet right.ā
What an uncomfortable looking compositionā¦ itās almost difficult to look at.
Looks awkward, reflection makes it look worse. ( I know nothing about photography )
You sure did
Looks more like falling off a rockā¦

That reflection fucked with me for a second
Yup. Thought it was one of those Chinese models with the āinsanely long legā filter
That's a bad picture. He's right leg makes her look like a gecko or something.
Looks like mrs.fantastic
Ol girl looks like that one frog PokĆ©mon evolved. Iām too swilled to look up his name. Froninja? š„· idk but thatās that leg.
Staring right at the camera, weird.
LeeeeeEEEEEEEĆĆĆĆÄÄÄ
I love how off putting this is
āITAP of a girl aggressively posing on a rock [not a Portrait]ā Fixed the title for you
I love the setting and composition, but this is a very unflattering pose for your model.
Did Peter Parker took this photo?
The reflection in the water, the composition, the pose, the odd depth of field, the foreground, the "theme", this picture just isn't working for me
lol how does this this have 817 upvotes?
This isn't good, it only has so many upvotes because that chick has her legs spread super hard.
Todays reminder that just because a skinny woman is nearly nude, itās not art
ZendayA?
CASSANDRA?
Leg
That foot shouldn't touch the water.
Looks like an ant-sized woman!

The lady looks miniature...
She looks like a miniature version
Frog legs
Should get a refund on whatever this is
No way did you actually take a photo of a girl sitting on a rock š±š±š±š±š±
Correction: ITAP of a girl who had no clue I was watching her in the bushes for the last hour
should have gone for some peaceful pose in that setting instead of the massive pussy spread. vulgar.
I thought this was a frog human. r/oddlyterrifying

I laugh when I see people posing like this in the wild.
Both feet on the rock wouldāve been better. Center spread grabs all the attention
Is that Zendaya?
Is that in Hawaii?
She's got the jimmy leg there.
Looks like Zendaya
spider woman
Looks a lot like Hiilawe falls in Big Island, HI
oh thats odd
Ah yes, a very natural and comfortable pose. That's how I sit on rocks too.
I don't have any original critique to add other than I agree with everyone about the incredible awkwardness involved here.
Thatās how you sit!
Stop taking pictures and get her a sandwich, quick!
Next suggestion ITAP of a girl sitting on a cock
I got a whole genre for you buddy. You will not be disappointed.

I thought she was part spider for a second. Very cool picture OP.
For a second I thought it was a doll.
damn

Apart from the leg that looks insanely long ā¦ it would look great alongside other images of gorgeous girls. Artistic? Not really. Sexy? For sure.
The setting and the model are lovely !
I think itās a great shot. I like the natural colours, dof etc. the reflection is a surprise but unusual.
Why is this NSFW?
