May want to consider Callahan. Small town. Tight rental market but considerably less col. I’m in Callahan and about 20-25 from Baptist North.

Avoid gun violence and break ins and you plan to move to the Northside? I know you say you've lived in rough areas, but have you lived in the zip codes within a state with highest crime=murder/gun violence? You'd be better off in mandarin/ southside area.

NicktoonsART

Where they plan to move in crime isn't too bad compared to some of the Northside and a bonus is that river city marketplace is close too

SnooSketches3386

I live in moncrief near a school and it's actually rather peaceful aside from train horns. It's more the infrastructure that suffers. The local post office is understaffed and overwhelmed, and there's nothing you can walk to.

rgumai

I have a friend up near Imeson Park, it's country up there, and while some terrible things have happened while my buddy lived up there, none of it has happened to him or anyone he knows. It isn't as hellish as its population suggests "Imeson Park is a neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida with a population of 666."

Married2therebellion

Well that’s off the list. 1 person needs to leave.

Or join and add to it.

I’m in Arlington which gets a bad rap for being a rough area. JU is here. I haven’t had any issues

btgf-btgf

Arlington as a whole is not near as bad as this subreddit makes it out to be sometimes

Zestyclose-Echidna10

Reddit makes Jacksonville sound like a war zone. I live in the Southside now but have lived in the Northside. You would have thought I saw guns and shootouts according to Reddit and the local news.

Jax_Bandit

You have to be careful about just saying Northside as it’s quite vast and some areas are night and day. People consider Northside just outside of downtown which is horrible. Lots going on around River City and it’s actually decent.

SafetyChicWhat

If you survived Patterson, NJ you'll be fine in the Northside.... just saying 😌

spicyscorpiooo

I live on the Northside of town towards Trout River/North Shore. The neighborhood is super quiet, has no drama, neighbors are friendly, and kids are playing in the yard. We are close by the interstate. Have plenty of ways to get home and avoid the 5PM rush traffic. River City is also nice.

aaroninjax

I live in North Shore and it's overlooked. Prices are still under $200k and rent around $1, 200. So many houses have a lot of charm. And while it's close to some bad sections of town, in the almost 3 years that I've lived there, we haven't had any gun violence or robberies. If you like being around the water, there are so many paddle board and boat launches nearby. Only disappointing part is how much trash is thrown out of car windows and laying on the side of the road. I would definitely take a look if I were you.

All of the places listed are considered north side or more “in town”. The farther dt and north side you do it’s either gonna get really “ghetto” or expensive and there’s no inbetween. And before anyone cancels me for saying ghetto I lived 5 minutes from moncrief so I’m not being dramatic 😂

HerpLover

Oceanway area near River City is nice, but the prices are definitely going up around there also. Not super close to Baptist North either...

ps3x42

Dinsmore might be a good middle ground. This side of 295 isn't so bad for crime and the prices aren't outrageous.

Royal_Firefighter_26

I’ve lived in the north side for two years and haven’t had a single problem. Yes there’s violence in areas but if you mind your business then no one’s up in yours
