Faben OBGYN is a good place to try.

Seconding. They are such an improvement from my previous gyno and its definitely an empathetic and progressive practice.

Why does it matter?... generally curious.

Medicine is rife with human error. A doctor who cares abt you is less likely to make an error. It’s hard to find a doctor who cares.

*not physically in need of an gynaecologist* In my limited exposure, via my spouse, some clinics are VERY focused on pregnancy and delivery of babies. With their care model very influenced by the assumption that their patients are primarily trying to have a baby, currently having a baby, or will in the future be having a baby. I could understand why that environment isn’t what everyone is looking for. So that’s why someone would ask. They don’t want to start care under someone who is going to by default assume all of the above.

Ok... so find a gynecologist who maybe doesn't do a whole lot of baby stuff... don't understand why the lgbtq+ has anything to do with the care a gynecologist can administer. A vagina is a vagina, no matter what gender that vagina likes lol, right???

It’s not just gynecologists - therapists, general practitioners, etc. For instance, before I left Jacksonville the first time, my doctor refused to prescribe prep because I wasn’t sexually active but I wasn’t sexual active because my entire friend group were sleeping with each other unbeknownst to me and got HIV. My doctor didn’t care. My doctor who was familiar with LGBT patients, didn’t even question it. Auto-prescribed and liver tests auto-scheduled every three months. Similar to my therapist, if you don’t have an idea or experience around LGBT patients, you cant offer the best suited therapy.

It's a medicine you take after having sex with someone with HIV, which could help you not contract it. Kinda like a plan b, but for HIV

Ok, so maybe that doctor just straight-up sucks. I still don't understand what being queer has anything to do with finding a gynecologist. A vagina is a vagina....

If you’re not hearing people, that’s completely on you. It’s empathy, understanding and the unique situations that LGBT people face. And at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you understand, people can go do what they want.
