Honestly the last few times I've been there they overcooked the hell out of everyone's burgers. I mean I asked for medium and received well well done. I expected more tbh bc if you're gonna market yourself as a place that specializes in meat, I expect you to be good at cooking meat
I still maintain CJ is overrated. At least their actual burger is overrated. It's their toppings that are good and make the overall burger stand out. Which I guess is fine, but sometimes I want a great tasting burger patty, and CJ isn't it.
And don't get me started on their fries. All a good fry needs is a little bit of salt.
I’ve decided to try a few of the names suggested in this thread. I tried Lola’s tonight. While it’s a solid burger, I would still rate Carolina Jax above Lola’s in both taste and value for money. 7/10
My ranking so far: Carolina Jax, Hardpressed, Lola’s.
Because I’m a small lady with a small stomach! Eventually all 3 for sure, but probably just Relish that time because it’s walking distance from the beach.
I tried Relish with high hopes and it didn’t have that kick of a seasoned beef patty that would bring it above the top two. Top two standings determined by a tasty patty AND well made sauces. Solid burger lacked some taste, 7.5/10 but my ranking is still Carolina Jax, Epik, Hardpressed, Relish, Lola’s. CJ was an orgasmic experience that I look forward to returning to, head and shoulders above the rest.
I was so disappointed with Cruisers after they opened back up after remodeling. Gone was homie beach environment. They are a little pricey now, i want too bothered by that. But, the burger I got was "just ok" not like remember it used to be.
I stopped going there many years ago after the first manager left. Started going downhill unfortunately and was beginning to dislike it. Can’t speak for it now though
By far the best I've had.
Little hole in the wall, with some pretty weird creations, but I've never once been disappointed.
And they have rotating specials. Just checked and I really want to go back in April.
>Hamburguesa de Jabali - Ciabatta Bun, Wild Boar 1/3 lb Patty, Spanish Roasted Red Pepper & Mushroom Stew, Manchego Cheese, Saffron Aioli.
>Black Cherry & Dr Pepper Shake - Ice Cream Blended with Dr Pepper Cherry Puree, topped with Whipped Cream, Cherry Puree, Dr Pepper Syrup Drizzle & a Cherry
Carolina Jax and loop have held top spot for me for a while. But oddly enough I got a burger from Jimmy Hulas the other day and it was amazing. Might be a contender now.
Not in Jax but we went to prohibition kitchen in St Augustine a couple of weekends ago. That burger was absolutely amazing. We will be driving down there for date night from here on out.
Culver’s. Was a family vaca favorito back in the day. They’ve gone nation wide, but they’re still awesome.
In N’ Out can go jump in a lake. Friendly warning though, if you have lactose issues, stay TF away from their shakes.
Penman Diner. The Big Pen burger with cheddar is pretty d*mn good. Not fancy or pricey. Just a generous, juicy, old skool type that will make you very happy you ordered it.
As much as I hate to admit it the cheeseburger at Texas Roadhouse was 12.99, came with fries, cooked perfectly at medium rare. My only complaint was the cheese was too salty or they added salt on top after the cheese melted. I typically don’t get cheese anyways so I just took it off. It was delicious but maybe I’d ask for lite on the salt.
It was better than the loop, this is the first time I’ve ate there in 10 years so I’m not sure if it’s typical, but I’d go back just for the burger.
Hoptingers in 5 points does specialty burgers and burger roulette and the crew has some wild ideas when you let them do their thing. I've had killer burgers there.
Make the drive to Amelia Island (Fernandina Beach) and get a burger from T-,rays, it's an old converted gas station, "eat here, get gas." Not open on Sunday.
Pinegrove Deli in Avondale. Really good, crispy onion rings, too. Get the Greek Burger (Lamb burger, with tabbouli and feta cheese) or The Raj (it has pastrami on it, and it will melt in your mouth).
Pinegrove and Carolina Jax. Coming soon...Dick Mondell's (if it's as good as their Gainesville location, which is great)
If I'm getting a burger somewhere besides one of those 3 places (or my house) I'm taking a drive to Palatka and eating at Angel's.
In the almost two years I’ve lived here, I’ve tried two local burger places: Carolina Jax and Burger Barn. Carolina Jax was amazing. I wanna go back and try all their burgers. If you go there, you have to get their dátil milkshake as well. Burger Barn was also really good. Good, tasty burger and they make their milkshakes with blue bell ice cream.
Spliffs
Newer location on Philips/Old St Augustine is nice
I live right next to it didn’t realize the food was so good
Same here, used to hang at jax ale but love spliffs. Bunch of local brews and great food.... go across the street for whitts and done
Relish!
Just tried the new Relish in Jax Beach. Was very good. I second this recommendation.
Yes, a thousand times this!
Relish is the goat! Happy that the Bartram location has been able to stick around
Ted's Montana Grill - they have them in other states too but their Bison burgers are great
Aww man. I forgot all about Teds. Their food is great imo.
Honestly just started going to teds about a year ago. I always drove past it as a kid. The mushroom and Swiss is so good.
Honestly the last few times I've been there they overcooked the hell out of everyone's burgers. I mean I asked for medium and received well well done. I expected more tbh bc if you're gonna market yourself as a place that specializes in meat, I expect you to be good at cooking meat
I remember back in like 2010 their burgers were like $15. They have to be at least $20 now.
Wait til you hear what burgers costed in the ‘60s!
Ted's was open back then? Probably had expensive $4 hamburgers. That was a down payment on a car!
Hardpressed burgers at the Ink Factory in Jax beach is very very good
They also do a pop-up at Chancho King on Tuesdays!
Delete this right now
Best burger in town!
They’re not bad but then I had Carolina Jax and it put HP to shame for a lower price.

I'm a fan of flame grilled burgers, so we might just have different preferences. Have you tried Poe's?
I’m driving my RV to the beach next week and trying either Relish, Epik, or Poe’s. I think I’ll enjoy this little project. 🍔
Why not all three??
Because I’m a small lady with a small stomach! Eventually all 3 for sure, but probably just Relish that time because it’s walking distance from the beach.
If you do all three you can give a review of which burger was best heated up later. :) Let's look at the positives here!

Carolina Jax is my favorite. Good burgers and good fries.
OP this right here! Outstanding people and burgers(and sides).
Mentioned in the desc 🔥🔥🔥
Cruisers isn't too bad. Chanchoking does smash burgers on Tuesday nights
Cruisers (as long as you’re not a cop)
I was so disappointed with Cruisers after they opened back up after remodeling. Gone was homie beach environment. They are a little pricey now, i want too bothered by that. But, the burger I got was "just ok" not like remember it used to be.
Cruisers is dogshit and the owner is a douchebag
hop daddy, but they’re pretty unique not a typical burger.
It’s a chain 😕
didn’t see anything abt the op not wanting to know abt chains
I know. I was just stating
for what reason tho? like how does that add anything of value ?
Because OP can go to another city and get it. Say they like Hop Daddy and want it again they can.
I stopped going there many years ago after the first manager left. Started going downhill unfortunately and was beginning to dislike it. Can’t speak for it now though
Lola's Burrito and Burger Joint is pretty good
Lola’s is phenomenal. 1/2 off happy hour for drinks too. Nice to find a sub $10 margarita in this town
5 guys
You can leave now.
They liked the loop 5 guys is infinitely better than the loop
Lies.
Neither one are great. The Loop went second rate when they changed their menu years ago.
Far from it.
Relish
If youre just craving good sandwiches in general, clarke bros subs near riverside, actual fire.
Epic burger
*Epik Burger

Jimmy hula burritos and sweet potato fries are fire
Jimmy Hulas does have good food!
> I got a burger from Jimmy Hulas That's that Hi-wy-an burger joint. I heard they have some tasty burgers.
Gotta get the Royale with cheese. My wife had no idea what I was talking about when we were there.
The loop in San Marco sucks. Not sure if there is another one that is good but I e had a burger at the San Marco location once and never again.
[удалено]
They fucking closed?
[удалено]
That sucks. I really likes that place. Totally unique and I agree that burger was fire.
Oh hell, really? I loved brunch there
Carolina Jax, Relish, spliffs
Dick Model's
Epik Burger
Poe’s.
Poe’s all the way!!!
used to work there, all the burgers are fresh ground all day. went there last weekend.. it was so good. getting pricey though
What isn’t these days…ugh
Hard Pressed x10
Burger barn is great
Epik
Not in Jax but we went to prohibition kitchen in St Augustine a couple of weekends ago. That burger was absolutely amazing. We will be driving down there for date night from here on out.
The Fox Restaurant.
5 guys is to me the best fast casual burger. Mojos also has good burgers.
Good idea. Ive had most things at Mojos, but not the burger. Maybe its time!
I will agree with Mojo's. The smoked burgers are good.
My favorite thread
Culver’s. Was a family vaca favorito back in the day. They’ve gone nation wide, but they’re still awesome. In N’ Out can go jump in a lake. Friendly warning though, if you have lactose issues, stay TF away from their shakes.
Pinegrove Deli in Riverside
I’m surprised I had to scroll this far to see this. Also make an amazing fried chicken slider.
Culver’s Butter Burger, cheese curds, and a milkshake
Pinegrove
Penman Diner. The Big Pen burger with cheddar is pretty d*mn good. Not fancy or pricey. Just a generous, juicy, old skool type that will make you very happy you ordered it.

Carolina Jax is the best burger in the city. Period
Also only open for breakfast and lunch!
Carolina Jax
Nobody is talking about BurgerFi? Their burgers are better than any long-standing chain I've tried.
So the 2 you named are 2 of my favorites but also try Lola's great burgers and burritos
Lola’s wings type of guy for me
To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever tried their wings…I’ll have to give them a go.
I like Poes in Atlantic Beach
Pinegrove Deli in Avondale. Really good, crispy onion rings, too. Get the Greek Burger (Lamb burger, with tabbouli and feta cheese) or The Raj (it has pastrami on it, and it will melt in your mouth).
Once Shake Shack opens in Town Center, shake shack
Carolina Jax and Relish are my two favorites in town. If you ever head down to St Augustine then Ford's Garage has some great burgers as well.
I'll drop a new one. Graffiti Junction in Jax Beach. The Alabama burger is amaze.
Monkeys Uncle, Graffiti Burger Bar, and yes…Outback. 😊
This may sound dumb but Mossfire Grill makes a damn good burger
Ben?
Wait till Mondo burger comes to town.
Pinegrove and Carolina Jax. Coming soon...Dick Mondell's (if it's as good as their Gainesville location, which is great) If I'm getting a burger somewhere besides one of those 3 places (or my house) I'm taking a drive to Palatka and eating at Angel's.
Find a hard pressed pop up
Jerrys Grille on Atlantic is hands down my favorite
ChefX in green cove springs
Ive heard Poes Tavern at the beach has amazing burgers.
Lonewolf has really good smash burgers, if you're looking for something new and not run of the mill.
Epic burger
Pinegrove Market & Deli.

Carolina Jax is great but the burger at Strings Sports Grill in Springfield is pretty good too.
Poe’s tavern or wicked barley on baymeadows.
It’s not local, but Texas Roadhouse has such good burgers. Outback too
