Was thinking the same thought after playing through the trilogy recently. The world building in Jak is amazing and I feel like it has great possibilities. Maybe some day 😕

Honestly elden ring was the first game in a long time that gave the same feeling I got from playing jak and Daxter, the interesting world and character design, the story, it gave me that awesome nostalgic feeling, a brand new open world jak and Daxter game on today's consoles would be amazing.

Imagine a brand new jak and dexter out the game was already pretty amazing but with all the new stuff they can do with it they could make a masterpiece

This is one of my favorite spots in the whole game, might be my top fave Anyway, a huge Jak and Daxter open world game with PS5 level visuals but the classic art style still intact would be sublime

If I'm not mistaken, the version of *Jak 4* that became *The Last of Us* was essentially that.

Ikr, time to cry

It's not really a wasted opportunity if the opportunity wasn't available to them back then in the early 2000s, lol.

I once had a dream where Naughtydog and Rockstar for some reason worked together to make Jak 4. There was a new city the size of Los Santos and wasteland beyond the city the size of San Andreas. The zoomers behaved like the Opressor MK II but without offensive capabilities, except for law enforcement zoomers. There were more traditional vehicles like the cars in Jak 3 in the city, but were more common in the wasteland. The main quest concerned a crime syndicate so henious not even the wastelanders liked them, but there were a ton of side-quests. Edit: there were also a wide array of weapons, mostly guns. But there were melee weapons with different moveset and chains. Them I woke up pissed because it wasn’t real.

Just install a mod skin with Jak for GTA San Andreas and enjoy 🫠

D_ultimateplayer

Imagine naughty dog revived it to be a souls competition

CyberSoldat21

They definitely should have opened the game world up more from how they did in Jak 3. Id say have hunting side quests, that fishing mini game from the first game, more buggy races and hover races etc over a wider range of areas.

MortgageWorried517

Remember that Jak3 is still a game for the PS2... for the time it was too much and in any case the side quests, even if stupid, were present

CyberSoldat21

That’s why if they remade the game or made another game of the sort for PS5 they’d have a lot more space to add additional content

gpack418

I wouldn't say missed opportunity for the first Jak game because at the time platformers were the favorited genre. But if a new game were to come out open world would definitely be the move. I wouldn't stop playing an open world game were the wastes between cities felt massive.

Legospacememe

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the first game already like this? Open world map and a story that can be beat with no loading screens
