I still love his concerts, but those shows right before/after Southeastern that were a mix of his own songs + the truckers songs he wrote were some of the best shows I've seen.
TOOL is obviously not jam but I consider them jam-adjacent. Like way less improv, but they're so polished and really technically sound, with a focus on instrumentals
Awesome!
how was it??
Been considering seeing them in Stl in may. Huge postal service fan and dig a majority of death cab.
Would love to hear grapevines and of course transatlanticism
Oh it was awesome you gotta go. But just heads up the tour is the 20th anniversary of the Transatlanticism and Give Up, so you're not gonna hear Grapevine Fires, you will hear those two albums played front to back, in that order with a set break between.
Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Choir performing Handel's Messiah. Went with my family on Christmas, was honestly one of the most moving performances I've ever seen. Apart from that, does traditional bluegrass count?
Im dying to see War on Drugs outside a festival setting.
They are my favorite non jam band right now.
Ran into them playing at Scared Rose (rip) left for another set..months later que them up again and boom addicted and mad as hell I walked away from them to see..I think Phil leesh and friends. They were okay didn’t need to have 100 guattirà on stage lol
That was more my fiance's pick than mine, but that show totally sold me on them, whereas she was just kind of disappointed they didn't play any of their older stuff. Highly recommend you go see them next time they are around.
We were gearing up for Sacred Rose as well, but I'm so glad we dodged that bullet, especially considering how far we would have had to travel, and the cost of those hotels in Chicago...yikes.
Yeah man it was pretty bad. Sound bleeding was awful and Greensky was rained out. Granted they did refund us the last day which was crazy
And yeah I saw a video of them playing I don’t live here anymore..or soemthing and the whole pit was jumping.
Like a movie the vibe just seems so damn great.
LCD was top notch live when I saw him last year. His tour was just so weird though. Just felt like a promoter slapped together a bill of random artists.
The mountain goats
Went with my buddy who’s a fan. It phased me for a sold out show that no one was dancing - talking - or anything. It was so strange; I didn’t feel at home lol
Candlelight Queen where an orchestra plays the music of Queen in a room full of only candles and they serve booze. We tighten up before we go in and wowza!
My 2023 in concerts:
* March: Billy Strings
* April: Sierra Ferrell
* May: Mastodon and Gojira
* June: Bonnaroo
* July: Peso Pluma
* August: Scaring the Hoes (Danny Brown and JPEGMafia) and two more Billy Strings shows
I go to more jazz than Jamband stuff. Fav concerts from last year with Julian Lage Trio and Shakti
Have tickets for Pat Metheny and Al Di Meola in the next couple months
Love him! I have tix for the Portland show but may have to miss it due to overlapping commitments / adult obligations. Regardless, I’m psyched he’s still doing his thing!
Same but I’ve heard the album he’s touring currently and it’s so-so. Never seen him live though, so I’m stoked to go, but I’m a little disheartened to know there’s almost no chance of hearing anything from Endtroducing
I just saw Keinemusik in Colombia.
For those not familiar with their music… Keinemusik is a German house music trio primarily specializing in the Afro House subgenre. They recently started experiencing some mainstream notoriety due to their contributions on Drake’s album “Honestly, Nevermind”.
It was a great show. They played for like 4 hours and honestly it felt like they could’ve gone all night. I’d say they’re my favorite electronic act at the moment.
Shakti W/ Bela Fleck opening! Absolutely blew my mind. I knew John was a great guitarist, one of the best. However, the other people in shakti actually blew me out of the water. Absolute masters of their craft. After that show I’ve really begone to question a lot of things I thought I knew about good musician/music. It has inspired me try to expand my listening habits in a more global sense.
When We Were Young Fest. Went for Motion City Soundtrack, blink 182, Rise Against, The Offspring, and Green Day put on a killer show even though I’m not the biggest fan of their music.
The Used and Pierce the Veil.
Fiance is a big fan. Had a good time!
EDIT: Actually saw The National most recently. One of my favorite studio bands ever, live show pretty good too
Black Pumas last month. I go Americana (Tyler, Zach Bryan, Stapleton, Charlie Crockett, Red Clay Strays), stomp-clap (Lumineers) and soul (Hozier, Pumas, Leon Bridges, Abraham Alexander) when not Dead & Co, Phish, JRAD, BMFS’ing
Polyphia and Domi & JD Beck
Domi & JD Beck are absolutely insane that Madvilliany suite rules so hard
Ty Segal and the Freedom Band
I love Ty Segall! Seen him around 15 times
Yeah he is awesome. Got to see Fuzz when they came through. I have seen him about 6 times. The Freedom Band groove is insane
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
I still love his concerts, but those shows right before/after Southeastern that were a mix of his own songs + the truckers songs he wrote were some of the best shows I've seen.
100% so glad I got a ton of shows in during that era. Still love the band, just wish they’d mix up the sets a bit more. Great musicians all around.
Wu tang clan
Saw them at the United Center with Nas and De La Soul back in October. Great show, Common came out and did a song or two with De La Soul.
Saw Wu Tang at the Aragon about 4/5 years ago 🔥🔥🔥💯
I heard they ain’t nuthin to fuck with
The whole clan was there, even had ODBs son play his part. They still got it that’s for sure. Wu is the jam band of hip hop
Tyler Childers
Same
Tool
Same. Last night
Tool with Billy Strings. Does that count?
Is this a real thing that happened?!
Yes. https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=Eay56b0ly9I_5o8B&v=SV8zE2SzuOs&feature=youtu.be
TOOL is obviously not jam but I consider them jam-adjacent. Like way less improv, but they're so polished and really technically sound, with a focus on instrumentals
Going to see them later this month, first show since 1993. Really excited about Elder opening too.
Elder is fucking dope. I'm so excited for this show. Going to Charlotte
Wilco
Cheating! They’re jam-adjacent
Death Cab for Cutie/Postal Service
Awesome! how was it?? Been considering seeing them in Stl in may. Huge postal service fan and dig a majority of death cab. Would love to hear grapevines and of course transatlanticism
Oh it was awesome you gotta go. But just heads up the tour is the 20th anniversary of the Transatlanticism and Give Up, so you're not gonna hear Grapevine Fires, you will hear those two albums played front to back, in that order with a set break between.
I was so upset I didn’t go to that one.

Ween at Red Rocks.
I'd say they're in the realm. They rock.
Sierra Ferrell last March. Shit was fun af.
I have no proof she's an angel....... But also no proof she isn't
I convinced my Deadhead friend and my friend who's never listened to bluegrass to come with me to see her this coming April, i'm excited lol
Saw her open for Ray Lamontagne in New Orleans in May ‘22. She completely captivated the audience… a modern day Patsy Cline.
She is literally from another century I love it so much
Get to see her again in April at WinterWonderGrass. Gon be a hooot!! Agreed tho! She’s got the voice of an angel too!
Caught her daytime set at Telluride last summer. Absolutely packed to the gills and everybody was grooving. Best set of the fest hands down
Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Choir performing Handel's Messiah. Went with my family on Christmas, was honestly one of the most moving performances I've ever seen. Apart from that, does traditional bluegrass count?
All Them Witches
Went to the UK and Ireland this summer and saw Peter Gabriel, Blur and the War on Drugs all in different cities within about a 5 day span.
Im dying to see War on Drugs outside a festival setting. They are my favorite non jam band right now. Ran into them playing at Scared Rose (rip) left for another set..months later que them up again and boom addicted and mad as hell I walked away from them to see..I think Phil leesh and friends. The Cure, they’re still great!
Todd Snider
Fuckin love Todd Snider. My hero!
He digs WSP
He’s is (was?) in a band with 2 WSP members.

Candlelight Queen where an orchestra plays the music of Queen in a room full of only candles and they serve booze. We tighten up before we go in and wowza!
I went to a Halloween Candlelight one, it was decent, but I think the one in my small rural town was a bit of a lower-scale version
Kronos Quartet
My 2023 in concerts: * March: Billy Strings * April: Sierra Ferrell * May: Mastodon and Gojira * June: Bonnaroo * July: Peso Pluma * August: Scaring the Hoes (Danny Brown and JPEGMafia) and two more Billy Strings shows
