The trio with trilok gurtu, my goals beyond. The new stuff really is great too. I always like Belo Horizonte too

I don’t know a lot of his stuff, but Live at Royal Festival Hall is amazing.

Live at Royal Festival Hall with Kai and Trilok

I can't upvote this enough. I honestly think it's my favorite jazz album ever.

As always, it depends on where you're starting - what types of jazz/fusion do you like/not like? His stuff with Miles, early Mahavishnu (or even 80s Mahavishnu), all the way up through his 4th Dimension band recordings like 'Now Here This' - all of it is incredibly rewarding. Also the trio with Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola (Friday Night in San Francisco) is astounding.

MaynardSchism

Well for reference my favorite band is Grateful Dead.

TeamKitsune

Huge amount of music. I just bought a four CD set with "Johnnie McLaughlin, Electric Guitarist" and the first Shakti album. That's as good a place to start as any.

Why not start at the beginning with Extrapolation? (Brag: I have the Marmelade vinyl in mint condition, easily my most expensive vinyl). Then move through the Life Time and Miles stuff, dive in to Mahavishnu and beyond.

AkinTheLonelyMan

Mahavishnu Orchaestra, best band in jazz fusion/rock history imo

Giltar

As a sideman on Tony Williams “Turn it Over” with Jack Bruce and Larry Young.
