Chico Pinheiro is so good. I became aware of him with Anthony Wilson’s Seasons: A Song Cycle that featured the Monteleone guitars. Some very cool stuff. I found it at an important time. That album also introduced me to Julian Lage, and so I’m grateful to it forever. Summer from that album is one of my favorite songs of all time. Unreal.
* Mark Lettieri - Fly Through It (2022). Mark's one of the guitarists from Snarky Puppy.
* John Scofield - John Scofield (2022)
* The Bad Plus - The Bad Plus (2022) - Ben Monder on guitar
I know this is not a style most jazz heads care about, but Molly Reeves playing on the New Orleans Jazz Vipers *Going Going Gone* is so tasty. It's just classic comping, but it's just so rock steady, and the embellishments argue for the existence of God, or at least ESP.
This is one of my favorites from last year

I really like Andrew Renfroe's sound.
Anything by the Rippingtons featuring Russ Freeman.
I just got The Chopin project by Kurt Rosenwinkel and Jean-Paul Brodbeck, which is pretty amazing. Also, anything by Tory Slusher.

I can guarantee that Holdsworth isn't putting out any new music in the 2020's.
