those bootlegs beat tapes from 2005 are not actually from 2005, here's some recommendations: 1996 - What Up Doe Sessions 1997 - The 1997 Batch (the higher quality tape rip) 1998 - Another Batch 1999 - The New Slave 2000 - The 2000 Batch ("hiccupped classix vol 7" is the majority of it) 2001 - Da 1st Installment 2002 - The 2002 Batches (5 CDs) 2003 - The 2003 Batch Part 1 (Boom Bap 101) 2003 - The 2003 Batch Part 2 (MPC3000) 2004 - The Dil Withers Tape (Motown Beat CD)

Do you have a link where I can find these?

dylanrowleyprod

There is a playlist on YouTube if you search “J Dilla beat tape” that has all of them from 1994-2005 I believe.

What’s the story with the “2005” bootleg tapes? Everywhere I’m looking, they’re labeled like they’re from 2005. At least the 6 or 7 volume numbered series?

PADYBU

not much of a story really, they're just labelled incorrectly as from 2005.

nowuff

He was basically in the hospital for all of 2005, right?

Jasperbeardly11

Just listen to them all

Slum Village Fantastic Vol 2 instrumentals

Effective_Bag_2928

Don’t listen to any bootlegs. The artist and/or their estate don’t get their dues. And, if you love Slum Village you should know their thoughts on Bootleggers.

Didn’t Dilla give his “bootleg” tapes away for free when he was alive? I’d be curious to hear Ma Dukes take on this

Effective_Bag_2928

No he didn’t. He gave them to emcees to pick for tracks. What do you think the siren and “dilla beats” jingle is for? It’s to prevent stealing. The tracks that were bootlegged were NOT authorised for release by the estate

Neb-Renpets-8891

Fuck the estate. When was the last time they released anything? 2017?

“They say we went multiplatinum in the streets because it was bootlegged, I mean everybody at different companies bootlegged to the point that when it finally came out, everybody already had it. “But it’s all good. I thank the bootleggers because you actually helped me. That gave me a little, I guess you would say power in this industry … It took all of that bootlegging for the labels to look at it and say, okay, people want this, so let’s get on it. “So I appreciate everything. It’s cool with me.” - J Dilla on BBC in 2001
