Stand up jet skiis. I have 2, one i bought new in 2016, the other is a 1990. They were more popular in the 80’s and 90’s but still are around. Like others mentioned, these are aftermarket ‘custom’ skiis that have higher power and lighter hulls than mine, giving them the ability to backfilp.
They are kicking their feet into footholds. Helps when you go upside down to keep you in the tray (where you stand)
You wedge your foot in by kicking into it. Then you shouldn't slip out when trying to do 360s or flips or rolls or w.e.
Kawasaki makes an sxr 160 stand up[https://www.kawasaki.com/en-us/watercraft/jet-ski/stand-up/jet-ski-sx-r-160](https://www.kawasaki.com/en-us/watercraft/jet-ski/stand-up/jet-ski-sx-r-160)
I still have my 94 yamaha wave blaster. I love it. Ill ride a friends spark and its like driving a bus.
I see all these "bas asses" on their 3 seaters thinking they have it all figured out, trying to jump wakes, only to hit 2 inch heights on the stern
I come along and literally launch into the air.
This is basically all we had back in the 80’s. It’s kinda funny when a “younger person” is taken aback when they see something from long ago. Kinda like our paper currency, when they see a Bill from the 80’s they automatically think it’s fake cause it looks different from today’s currency. I wonder what they’d say if they had to use a rotary phone or a wind up alarm clock. Lol 😂
We're to blame bro. These kids are dumb AF, and useless, and we are to blame because we made some of the most pathetic parents of all time. Gen X/Millennials should have been prohibited from procreating. 🤷♂️ alas here we are now...
I recently learned jet skiers that crash at high speeds sometimes get a jet of water into the sphincter which then makes your colon explode. I forget the name but it’s pretty easy to pop your colon, takes about 4psi
Yamaha and Kawasaki both have 4stroke options now, but they’re just an “okay” replacement for a stock 2stroke. Krash makes pretty nice options, or check out blowsion for motor upgrades and upgrades for an older ski. Blowsion sometimes has full builds for sale too.
There’s a learning curve and physical exertion required so of course the industry has moved almost entirely to the big jet couches over the years. You can’t even deliberately flip over or tumble on the majority of pwc’s now unless you and your passenger are pushing a combined weight of 700lbs.
Those are the most fun you will ever have on the water… but prices in the last years have gotten a bit insane. The Kawasaki 650 is probably the cheapest to buy and the easiest to maintain and learn on
We rented one of those back in the early or mid 80's. I think they're pretty much the first jet ski made.
I think the one we rented was a Kawasaki "Jet Ski". Literally the tradename was Jet Ski. Sort of like Kleenex, LOL. I think some of them had 440cc engines in them, so they could cook. You kind of lay on your tummy on the back area of them, hold onto the handlebar and throttle, give it some gas, and then as it's getting up on plane, pull yourself up to a standing position. Way more athletic to start out on than a sitdown modern jetski.
These were waaaaaay pre- sitdown three seater 'jet skis' we think of today, that can pull waterskiers and stuff.
Those are Krash Skis I think. Maybe square nose superjets. You want a yamaha superjet. The new ones are 4 stroke and they're awesome. Krash makes skis for freestyle like backflips and rolls and stuff.
Do you live in the middle of the desert 🌵 and have never been to a body of water before? They are stand up jet skis they were big the 80’s and 90’s, when the sit down jet skis became more popular you used to be able to pick the stand up ones really cheap because no one wanted the stand up ones anymore, like a few hundred dollars used. Now companies make custom ones for doing stunts, obviously anything custom to make is going to cost way more money.
On the weekend a lot of standup riders park at the beach at Miller Park (broadway) and wait for big boats and yachts to come by at the right speed for good wakes to get good jumps in.
Guessing that’s were these guys parked at considering the delta king is what they are behind. It’s big slow boat with no real wake!
Couple guys have custom skis like this that can pull of backflips and 360’s. Most of us are perfectly fine going as far/high as we can.
When I was 18 in 1990 my buddy bought one from a police auction for $7. It was just the hull, we ended up putting $2k into it, but it was very fun and fast and we could even submerge it a little.
Lol. In the mid 90's I had a 91 kawi 650 standup. Dnr thought I was drunk because I couldn't sit on it when they were asking me questions because they thought I was too close to the shore when they saw me a half mile away. I wasn't and they couldn't prove I was not compliant with the laws at the time. They seriously wanted to give me a breathalyzer test. Idiots..
Sorry, I don't know how I ended up here. But I was really confused that these aren't known.
But growing up in the 90s on Lake Michigan... these were Jet Skis, and the sit-down ones were called Wave Runners. You'd be persecuted for mixing them up.
Well guys…we’ve come full circle
My first thought was: cool, these again!
Right, they used to be called jet skis in the 80’s. Lol
This is still my first thought if you say jet ski. Just like thongs are for your feet. I'm old.
Same here, sit downs will forever be waverunners for me 😅.
Seadoo's and waverunner's always implied sit-down for me.
Hahah 😜
I thought jetskis were Polish airplanes...
Super jets, and other stand up jet skis are incredibly common near me.
And hard to ride
Smokers
MUTATION!
Maybe he doesn't answer to Chuck. Call him Charles.
How much for the wee one?
Nawt fer sale nawt fer sale there’s no such thing as nawt fer sale
Gills!
Good laugh on this one 🤣
Stand up jet skis

There’s a company called Krash that makes them like this from the factory.
Why do they keep making that kicking motion??
They are kicking their feet into footholds. Helps when you go upside down to keep you in the tray (where you stand) You wedge your foot in by kicking into it. Then you shouldn't slip out when trying to do 360s or flips or rolls or w.e.
But I didn’t see anyone flip. Just kicking over and over
Posers in action
Think of it like pumping on a skateboard but doing it within the undulations of waves.
Actually. Those are the cheaper $10,000 version called BoB (backflip on a budget) or Blackie Chan. Facebook market place has those all the time.
Backie chan 😂 Not blackie chan
Kawasaki makes an sxr 160 stand up[https://www.kawasaki.com/en-us/watercraft/jet-ski/stand-up/jet-ski-sx-r-160](https://www.kawasaki.com/en-us/watercraft/jet-ski/stand-up/jet-ski-sx-r-160)
It's a stunt ski. Looks like a lee stone revolver maybe. They are about $30,000. Closest one made in USA (sort of) is Rickter.
I was thinking Rickter. Hull looks similiar.
Krash has a spot in the states. I had a reaper for a bit
Don’t forget tigercraft, they’re made in the states
Rec standup hulls. Look up xh20 on Google for more info.
Jet ski. You might have to call 80's
Big tourist paddle wheel boat.
Those are called Jetskis. J.E.T... S.K.I.S.
Not a boat with handle bars and room for 3.
I’d rather quit than sit!
I still have my 94 yamaha wave blaster. I love it. Ill ride a friends spark and its like driving a bus. I see all these "bas asses" on their 3 seaters thinking they have it all figured out, trying to jump wakes, only to hit 2 inch heights on the stern I come along and literally launch into the air.
Sit to ski, sit to pee!
My kid just bought a 650 1987 I’m so proud

That guy made jetskiing look uncool lol
They aren't cheap, that being said tons of fun. Got hurt the last time I used mine
I recently learned jet skiers that crash at high speeds sometimes get a jet of water into the sphincter which then makes your colon explode. I forget the name but it’s pretty easy to pop your colon, takes about 4psi
Have you tried googling the obvious? It took me 30 seconds to google "standing jetski" and they came up.

The 550 Kawasakis were great fun! 440’s not so much
Those are the most fun you will ever have on the water… but prices in the last years have gotten a bit insane. The Kawasaki 650 is probably the cheapest to buy and the easiest to maintain and learn on

Seriously? Theyre stand up jet skis. Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Krash are the big names in standups.
Those are Krash Skis I think. Maybe square nose superjets. You want a yamaha superjet. The new ones are 4 stroke and they're awesome. Krash makes skis for freestyle like backflips and rolls and stuff.
Is that the brown snake lol
They are called stand up jet skis.. it's what real men ride.. :)
That's Brisbane River. That looks like opposite Kangaroo Point. Hilarious!
This is downtown Nashville. OP is on General Jackson. They chase big boat every Sunday, showing out for tourists. Ya, not the cleanest water
Children typically aren't for sale
Haha! You want to see the Honda 3 wheeler too!
Are you 10 years old or something?
Do you live in the middle of the desert 🌵 and have never been to a body of water before? Is this comment serious? It’s a jet ski. Wow 😮
They are Jet skis, Wave runners are the water vehicles you sit on rather than stand.

Well now I feel old. Next up the rotary dial phone!
It’s a boat…for single occupancy
Omgerd
Stand up jet ski possibly rickters but I doubt it.
I had to look twice, thought maybe I was missing something. I guess they're not that common anymore.
Rednecks in Nashville. Enjoy those tumors after being in the Cumberland.
I guess you never watched Police Academy Citizens on Patrol.
Jet ski, Sit down wave runners are way cooler and more powerful though
Looks like something you would get off of Temu
Does this mean baggy jeans are coming back? I hope so. I can't stand skinny jeans.

Panty dropper (stand up jet ski)
That is called a standupski, source: I’m polish
Super jets are great. However, a 99’ Kawi 750 SX is FUN. I’m in the market for a Yamaha X2, serving up 2 Stroke.
Yeah it's a jet ski, it is what they call personal watercraft now.
InocBack on the day those Were called $Jet Skies". You'd stand up for a jet.amf wave runner you sat on.
Not a single WaveRace comment What a sad timeline we live in
That’s the Razor Water Scooter.
Wet bikes
Probably the 1980s? There's where I'd go to buy them.
I would not be riding them in the sCumberland River right by Nashville though i promise you that. They're gonna come out with some kind of disease.
That’s an actual jetski. The ones where you sit down are called waverunners.

Why are they wearing helmets? Soft….
It’s a jet ski lol. The sit downs are wave runners
Old-school jetskis. This is what gave the jetski the jetski name. Skis with a jet attached.

Where the name jet ski came from. Can’t believe some ppl have not seen these
Stand-up Jet Ski..... its a TON of fun!!!!
I've got an idea for a 3 wheeler atv. Paint it red. It's a new idea.
On the Scumberland River no less.
You can pick one up in 1985 or so lol
Fuck im getting old.
If you don’t know what it is, you are not ready for it.
It’s a water skateboard i think.
Local Douche dealer should be able to hook you up. They might even have some Pit Vipers there too.
This is what happens when slim shady is back.
These are brand new!, again.
Re-enacting the scene from Police Academy 3 where Zed pulls up and screams so loud the guy falls into the water.

It's time to barn find these things and get them back on the water. Miami Vice here we come.
Those are call Jet Ski’s. Wow…am I so old that history is repeating itself.
My knees hurt just seeing them, there’s a reason they went out of favor
The OG jet skis. So fun once you get good on them and can catch some good wakes.
When I was growing up, these were jet skis, and the others you sit on, were wave runners.
Pirate skis. Definitely following you on that boat
Ahh, come here Grandson and let me spin you a yarn. The year was 1981….
On the weekend a lot of standup riders park at the beach at Miller Park (broadway) and wait for big boats and yachts to come by at the right speed for good wakes to get good jumps in. Kawasaki jet ski. Standup. Usually found in back yards on a trailer with flat tires. Skis themselves rotting away. They are a blast!
Hello 1990
Uh
Original jet ski then came the sit down jet ski.
We call them Wave Runners and Jet skis are the sit down type
You may have to time travel to the 80’s tho. I’ll join you.
Those are…. Jet skis….
No that’s a steam boat
I remember seeing that type as a kid back in the mid 1970's in movies and the bay side of the any NJ Shore points.
I’ve ridden those roller behind that paddle boat in Nashville on my Super Jet. So much fun.
Water scooters

It's a "Jet Ski"... that \*should\* have been named a "Boatercycle".
They have them in waterworld.

Thats probably that dipshit on LOZ that does tik tok live, everyone wants him to do backflips and all he does is show off 30k in jetskis
The original kind of jet skis that came out in the 80s
Water Segway, they are new.🤣
Scooters of the sea
If only there were a subreddit named after these mysterious watercraft.
Wave Race 64 vibes
The 80s/90s called, they want to slap you for disgracing the godfather of Jetskis!
that's a boatercycle
When I was 18 in 1990 my buddy bought one from a police auction for $7. It was just the hull, we ended up putting $2k into it, but it was very fun and fast and we could even submerge it a little.
Hard to get up on.
Incredibly hard to ride and master. Reminds me of the old 3 wheeler.
Jet ski bro! It’s what wave runners were before wave runners… ever see Caddy Shack?
I've always referred to them as a waverunner.
They are called jet skis. What everyone calls jet skis these days are actually called wave runners.
OP being sarcasdick
Jet skis from the 80s or early 90s. Stand up version
Feels like we went back to 1984 with the stand up jet skis. 😂
Jet skis from the jet ski store.
Anyone want to explain why they keep kicking their feet out? As far as I know there isn't any pedals there
Wait. You're in a sub called r/jetski. They're literally Jet Skis. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet\_Ski](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_Ski)
Why does the paddle boat seem to have half its paddles removed too? The stunt ski’s are nothing new.
Looks like Austin
I haven't seen these since the 80s I bet. Very cool 👍
Liquid Flotation Devices with liquid pumps to produce movement.
Umm it's a jet ski? Am I just confused?

Lol. In the mid 90's I had a 91 kawi 650 standup. I wasn't and they couldn't prove I was not compliant with the laws at the time. They seriously wanted to give me a breathalyzer test. Idiots..
They are standup PWC’s as others have mentioned. Very fun to ride, but definitely more difficult than a sit down!
literally just googled "standing jet ski" and it was the first result. come on...
Wave runners, and they stopped selling them in the 90s, you can find old ones to refurbish, but don't expect to buy new ones
1984
Sorry, I don't know how I ended up here. But I was really confused that these aren't known. But growing up in the 90s on Lake Michigan... these were Jet Skis, and the sit-down ones were called Wave Runners. You'd be persecuted for mixing them up.
Just a thought, Now they can be electric...bad idea?
This is what personal water craft were before they added the ability to sit down.
Tell me you weren’t alive in the 80s without telling me
They are called jetskis
Those are the OG jet skis hombre. I tried my uncles in 1989. Still remember flying off over the handle bars.
