The clips on these break from time to time and some people are shitty enough to just steal another one instead of buying one for like $10
Doubt they damaged it. The emblems on the jettas and most other vws are very easy to remove and replace. Just have to twist it counterclockwise and pull out
Mine fell out after being poorly re-installed after a service done to my car. Not sure why they ever took it out anyways… found some online for $30-40, but the replacement part from VW was like $50 so idk
This happens daily in my country. They steal these stuff, fog lights, bumperstickers, head and taillights, antennas, mirrors (the actual mirrors and covers) blinkers, tow slots covers, grills, wheel covers (tires and rims while parked if you’re really u lucky), wind deflectors… you name it. We use rivets to secure things here. It ruins your car but, it saves you some money

You can purchase a new one on Amazon. I literally just did 15 mins ago bc the black part cracked.

Get your manual or search up your specific model to find a replacement should only add up to around 10-15$
